  1. For satarters Kit # 65717 is called simply VF-1 Super/Strike Valkyrie -- no 'S'.

Which gives you a clue as to what the difference is.

65717 has an extra sprue 'F' which contains the parts for the 'A' head - otherwise the contents are identical.

    Thanks Chas.

So trying to build the super VF-1J (for max and miria) using the 65705 or 65717 will not be possible?

Does the 65717 have the J sprue for the J head too?

If not, I must try to find some J head for fighter mode (maybe steal/borrow it from my other VF-1J hase kit).

  2. I wonder if anyone know if there is any different between:

    65705 VF-1S Strike Valkyrie

    and

    65717 VF-1S Super/Strike Valyrie

The model section info said that the 65705 only have one micro missile launcher, so it can be build only as strike but not super.

But I checked page 2 of the instruction, there is clearly 2 micro missile launchers in the parts diagram.

If anyone have both kits, could you help with some details?

    Thanks

  3. Samurai Monkey doesn't live in Japan any more.

You should be able to get replacement parts through either HLJ or Rainbow Ten. Not sure what they'd cost, though.

I might be able to throw Q-16 into a mold at some point, but my Q-15 is already glued to the wing, so I'm not so sure about that one...

    Ken,

If you are planing to mold these two pieces, I can loan my Q-15.

I now nothing about mold, but if add one extra piece is not a big problem, then I happy to help. Can't leave cokefiend without his missing piece.

PS: Rob posted a kit from Japan for me the other day. So I got the impression that he is still in Osaka. My mistake.

  4. Missing part for valkyrie13 is Q-16 and cokefiend want Q-15.

If you live in Japan, you can cut the cupon from the instruction sheet and order a replacement spruce.

Sadly, I don't live in Japan. I am sure there are MWF member who live in Japan (samuraimonkey for one).

I have some friends there, I could try to help, but the 3 ways arrangement will be a bit complicated.

I do have a VF-0D kit, I could be pursuaded to sacrify the Q-spruce. I will not build this kit for a long while and I can try to order the replacement when I visit Japan in the future.

  5. That bottle looks like a general household laundry bleach. So I will try one that have sodium hypochlorite.

I have the same kit (just recieve it yesterday).

Thanks nomalbill for sharing this, it is a big help.

English is hard for me too. But you have lots of picture, a "picture" can be a thousand words.

  6. Those, Ryuji's Minmay kits, and G-System kits (i think) are the only originals original resin kits I'm aware of that Hobbyfan has sold.

Sorry to go off topic here for a bit.

Ken, do you know if all the 1/48 VF-1 from hobbyfan is by G-System ?

The reason I ask is I brought one the other day and was wondering if it is by G-System (still waiting for the kit to arrive).

BTW, did the cheque clear ok?

  7. I can see that the SHE recast turn out really nice. I am seriously tempted, I was under the impression that all kits are sold.

The one thing that I am worrying about is the fact that a tranformable kit will need to have some screws. Not sure if I like a model that have exposed screws.

Do you mind posting some picture of the completed recast SHE kit?

Maybe, I will wait for your new project next year.

Got a recast SHE VF-4G kit if you are interested :p

  8. How much will this original yellow sub kit cost?

I've got this one up for grabs, I left it back in California when I was there last March. If you are interested in this one I will check to make sure its back at home. Its new sealed in bags and not a recast. How much is the recast going for?

  9. Which kit for the VF-4 there is the yellow sub one, club m vfx, and a tranforable kit. Which on are you looking for?

Sorry for not making clear which one I am looking for (gosh, there are so many different version of them).

I am looking for an 1/72 VF-4 either club-M or Musasiya.

Ofcouse, the original might be hard to come by and I might not have enough cash for them.

So a recast is my best bet I think.

The 1/100 and !/144 VFX one by yellow sub (or its recast) is also ok too but on a lower perference (I might give up on the 1/72 scale consistency if the price is attractive).

    Thanks for trying to help.

  10. Hi,

I missed the chance to buy this kit.

Is there any left or if anyone wanted to sell theirs?

I know hobbyfan says that a new batch will come in by mid Dec. The price is quite resonable. But I am concern about the quality. How good is the hobbyfan VF-4 kit (god knows where they get that from)?

    Thank you in advance

  11. Guys:

I'm based in Mexico City and the toy offer here sucks, and everytime I order online I have to pay an eye for shipment and taxes.

My girlfriend is going to New York on thursday and I have a long list of items for her to buy for me. I haven't been in the Big Apple yet, so I need some info about interesting toy stores in Manhattan.

    Thanks in advance, people.

I understand your pain. Postage cost is killing me too.

Check out image anime, they are at 103 West 30th Street

    http://store.imageanime.com/info.html

I brought from them once and it seems like they have some nice item in stock.

    Best of luck.

  12. Want to put a VF0-A head on my Reactive armor zero, It only comes with the S head. I could use a gun pod too. I have resin copies of the little vending machine ride armors from Mospeada for trade, or cash. My ebay user name is grantjr if you need references. Thanks!

I think I have the VF-0A head hanging around somewhere. Will confirm once I get home.

  13. That said Future is a bit difficult to find in the U.K. Years ago when I just used it to polish the kitchen floor it was everywhere. Now I want to paint Macross stuff i cant find it anywhere.

Which is the best method/s for using it. I have read so many differing ideas on the net I`m not sure now at all.

Swanny's said that in UK it is called "Johnson Klear".

I found it in ASDA, I am sure the other supermarket stock them too.

  14. Hi Devin,

Just like to join in and say thanks for the minmay guard decals. Best of luck with your phD.

    Regards,

    kk

PS: this is a bit off topic, but following from the discussion above regarding samual decal.

I have just contacted them (to buy some virgin road decal) and I ask them if we provide the scan, are they willing to print decal set for us.

I know many of us here need decal for 1/48 custom (and I myself might need one set for my UD VF-1), that is why I asked him.

He said that he can do it if we provide 600dpi scans.

Seems like a posibility. Not sure how much he will charge, but if we pool our order together, maybe we can get a good deal.

I have never buy from them before this, so not sure what sort of quality they give (hopefully as good as Devin's).

  15. Sorry about hijacking this thread for one short moment...

I would also like a price check on a hobbyfan 1/48 detailed VF-1 resin kit. How much (estimate) would you have to pay to get one ?

    Thanks

  16. If I understand you correctly, then maybe this might be of some help. Want that kit too, but can't afford it right now :)

    ChaosWarrior

    Thanks ChaosWarrior.

    That it the kits.

But whatever you do, don't place an order for it from Toy and Joys. You will get totally no joy (and toy).

I make an order in August, but was told it will be on back order after waiting for more than one month. I complained and after another month, I finaly got my money back.

It was a painful and frustrating experience. I hope no one will go through the same process.

I had been searching for this kits high and low. The only place I found it listed as available is at toy n' joy.

A chinese aution site also have it on offer but buying from them will not be easy (no easy way to pay them).

  17. WOW i'm jealous! as a newb i'm just curious was it just the decals that you added or did you have to paint the valkyrie as well?

now i'm waiting for someone who's willing to sell theirs =) since i missed out on the decals..anyone selln one =) either one of them is fine ^_^

If you are looking for 1/72 (both v1 and v2 minmay guard) decal, you can find them in ebay.

I got two for myself, still waiting for them to arrive, so can't tell you how is the quality compared to Anasazi's (got one set from him a while ago).

Just do a search at ebay using "macross decal".

  18. Cool! I didn't understand two things in part 2:

    1. After washing the panel lines, what's that white stuff he using w/ the Q-tip to clean up the wash?

    2. What's he spraying on the wing after applying the "no step" decals? Clear sealant or is it lt.grey paint to blend the decals in?

    Thanks for the videos! :)

With my limited Japanese, this is what I understand (please correct me if I am wrong):

    1. Is the 9800 polishing compound (he also uses it for polishing the canopy)

    2. Is "smoke" that he is spraying. He is doing it base on how he think the air flow will affect the oil stain.

I can't seems to be able to see the different after the smoke was applied.

I did enjoy the video. Learned a few new things. :)

  19. Thanks for the hint, Penguin and Noyhauser.

Ok, to be on the safe side, will try to avoid mixing them whenever possible.

Because, once you mix them, there are two types of paint, and using either thinner will not be good, as Noyhauser said.

So I guess mixing these two types of paint will works (as Penguin has experienced) but maybe results in paint with poorer performance.
