Alto makes Hikaru look like Focker.

I'm starting to think that is Alto in the grand scheme of things. He seems like a less strong, less passionate version of Hikaru. With all the parallels Mac:F draws with the original M:SDF, we go from simple stuff like "What if Hikaru rescued Minmei from 'falling up' into vacuum rather than falling down to Macrloss City?" to "What if 'Big Brother' survived?" I think that through a combination of Alto's inner nature and the outcome of certain events, Alto hasn't had much of a chance to grow so much as Hikaru did in M:SDF. Seeing Alto in M:F vaguely reminds me of seeing Jean Luc Picard in the TNG episode "Tapestry". Certain events led to missed opportunities, which turned the most famous captain of the federation into a nobody. Whatever the outcome of M:F, I doubt Alto will be anywhere near as prominent as Hikaru was in the history of Macross, but we shall see!

Alto is too indecisive to end up with either Ranka or Sheryl. So in the end, he'll lose both, then he'll "sort of" go back to kabuki (while still holding a position in NUNS and STILL wearing the SMS uniform, because he's so indecisive!). Alto will then dress up like a Kabuki and be his own woman in the final frame. THE END!

I haven't bought any non-DVD/CD Macross Merchandise in ... a very long time. Probably not since the late 80's early 90's. I'm a newbie collector, but I'm a Macross Frontier fan, as well as a big fan of the original SDF-Macross. Are there any relatively new "Must have" items I should be aware of?

Could Ranka be named after the island kingdom of Lanka -- the land of demons led by Ravana which was later conquered by Rama in Ramayana? In episode 22, Ranka goes to the homeworld of the Vajra. Vajra and Lanka are both Sanskrit words in origin. Any thoughts?

I've heard Tae Kwon Do mentioned, and one nice thing about it is that a great deal of dojangs market it to children. But I wouldn't just consider one style before making a final choice. I see you're in the Bay Area, which should have no short supply of variety. Of course, I am partial to kendo. See if any of these are near you, and above all, if they have childrens' classes. The con is, kendo equipment can be pricey; but the good part is, the vast majority of kendo dojos are not for profit, so you wont be paying as much for dues (it's usually just to pay cost for the space used as a dojo). I marvel at how kendo can cultivate the spirit and wish I had started at an earlier age.

Even if SDF Macross was at its pristine limit with the Animeigo release, wouldn't they be able to put the entire series on one Blu Ray disc? If so, that would greatly appeal to me.

VF-25 Brahmastra I think it fits well with the series enemies having a sanskrit name (Vajra).

Is it true that Lynn Kaifun's name in the Philippines dub was "Teddy Typhoon"?

I saw Robotech in 1985. I was sad when they got rid of it. Once I saw the original Macross, and DYRL, I was like "wow, this is so much better!" Despite the Robotech hate, and how I prefer Macross over Robotech by far, I am glad Robotech introduced me to an outstanding anime series. Not so glad that we're dealing with licensing issues here in the states

Sad. I figured Macross was like Star Wars to the Japanese; i.e. timeless classic. In that case, I suppose Mospeada songs are completely out of the question
