Sadly, there's next to no lineart for the Valkyries in Frontier. Either they're deliberately preventing it from being released, the publication market doesn't support its release (people just don't buy that stuff anymore, unlike the '80's), or it just doesn't exist, and the closest thing to it is the wireframe models for the CG. T.T

If memory serves, that artwork was originally released as part of a monthly column or article in a modelling magazine, and collected in "Macross Frontier Archives". I've translated parts of that book, but I'm pasting the linky for you (and others) for the publisher/date info at the top: http://monkeybacon.mywebcommunity.org/OTMiscBooks/MacrossFarchives.php The lineart in your link comes from Pgs. 069 and 070.

That trailer... what brought a laugh to me is at the very end it says something along the lines of "simultaneously releasing across the whole country... at 6:30 PM". Japan is renown for its timeliness, eh.

Is that his answer to the question posed by George Lucas in that Vanity Fair vid linked to earlier in this thread?

Macross Δ (Delta) - announcement thread
sketchley replied to renegadeleader1's topic in Movies and TV Series
Re: What VF that NUNS is using in Delta (if they appear at all): One thing that has been reclarified in recent months is that Kawamori-san is a visual designer first and foremost. Visual design took precedent in Frontier with the deployment of the VF-19 being replaced by the VF-171 (because it is visually distinct from the VF-25), and the same will hold true in this case. Therefore, I highly doubt that if we see NUNS, they'll be using the VF-25 (because it's quite similar to the VF-31). The question that remains is what does the Sv-262 look like in Battroid, and how visually distinct that is from the VF-171? (NUNS using the VF-171 is already established with the generation of fans brought in with Frontier, and recently, more often than not, Kawamori-san has been recycling designs).- 2715 replies

What's with Macross and Thursdays?!? @ all those cursing not being in Japan: despite being here, work like totally prevented me from catching any of the live streaming stuff. >.<;;; Anywho... translations of the blurbs that were thrown up on the official website: VF-31 Siegfried: http://monkeybacon.mywebcommunity.org/Stats/Statistics/VF-31/VF-31.php Sv-262 Draken III: http://monkeybacon.mywebcommunity.org/Stats/Statistics/Sv262/Sv-262.php Not much, but they do add a few more tantalizing clues about the series.- 2715 replies

Wasn't the original poster talking about releasing Macross in general, and not SDFM in particular?

To add to what Azrael said - if it's released internationally (meaning outside of Japan), one has to get the trademark from Harmony Gold (not sure about how many TM's they've put in place outside of the US, though). An English dubbed release inside of Japan is plausible, but the chance of that happening is far beyond the other side of remote (less than the chance of the next Star Wars movie being released in the US in a French or Spanish dub - with the caveat that Macross has no-where near the same market, earning potential, or notoriety).

@ eriku: LOL About that new poster - I'm glad that they kept the optical printing artifact force fields from the original trilogy around that thing in space.

Great Mechanics 10: Macross Zero Feature http://monkeybacon.mywebcommunity.org/OTgreatMechanics/GM10.php Most of it is newly translated. Kinda neat visiting its snapshot of the state of Macross more than a decade ago.

Back to the Future: 30th Anniversary
sketchley replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The long and the short of it is that BttF2 actually has a reasonable excuse about why it wasn't as good as BttF3 - it was made back-to-back with Part 3. Even the director is on record saying that he regrets not being able to put more time into it, due to having his attention split between the filming of part 3 and the post production of part 2. Does that absolve pt 2 of all its problems? No -some of them are script level. But at least there's a reason for some of them. Does Ghostbusters 2 have a reason?- 55 replies

Back to the Future: 30th Anniversary

Back To The Future 2 is MUCH better. At the very least, they stayed true to what worked in the first movie, without trying to "evolve" it. [Or put another way, I don't mind watching BttF2, whereas Gb2 is a chore full of cringe-worthy moments.]- 55 replies

@Jenius: I approached it from the strategic sense, not so much the tactical sense (something like Roy fought the war, Shin won it or something like that). Though, I wanted to draw the VF-0A more than the VF-0S, and it's a better fit with the 'toughness defining joke'. That said, I'm finding myself modifying #2 from a VF-1J to a VF-1S (that whole strategic sense thing, not that... uhm, shouldn't get ahead of myself). @ Gerli Having played VF-X2, I can say that despite the raw firepower of the VB-6, it just isn't that manoeuvrable, and ends up being a walking target that the enemies run circles around. The Full Armoured VF-11 rocked in that game (the nuke missile was lethal - especially if the player got too close to the blast!!!), but I always found myself using the VF-22. Alas, neither the 22 nor the VB-6 are on the art list. But hey, it's not meant to be taken seriously.

Actually, it's a different one. The one in MtR first appears on the cover of TiAS: Macross Plus, whereas the one I mentioned is similar to the real life dorsal pod on the F-18 International Road Map.

There should be 2 hard points on each wing for externally carried munitions. You can see Kawamori's rough designs for "Stealth Pods" to be mounted on them on pg 078 of "Shoji Kawamori Macross Design Works".

And another one from the classic MW magazine archives. This one answering the question (for the most part): what are the High-Angels? Model Graphix #203 http://monkeybacon.mywebcommunity.org/OTmiscmagazines.php Shame the scans were cut off:

You're not the only one. I'm also getting a tingling feeling that Kodachi Ukyou, the writer behind "Macross the Ride" (about VF vs. VF as a competitive sport) AND "Macross 30", will be doing the major writing on this one.- 2715 replies

Great Mechanics G: 2015 Autumn Macross/Kawamori Content 4 pgs (colour & B&W) on the Kawamori "The Transformation" exhibit currently ongoing at the Tezuka Osamu museum. There are only a few pictures of the "no photography" part of the exhibit (and all too small to make heads or tail of), but the interview with Kawamori looks insightful. 6 pgs (B&W) on Cyber Formula, with another interview with Kawamori (yes, it's not Macross, but can you see a theme developing with the ongoing museum exhibit and in anticipation of the release of "Macross Delta"?). 5 pgs (B&W): the "Pinpoint Mechanics" regular Macross column - this time focusing on the VF-1S Strike Valkyrie, and the VF-1A Super Valkyrie. Most of the art comes from DYRL, but there are also a few pieces from SDFM. The VT-1 Ostrich also makes a guest appearance and... you guessed it, ANOTHER interview with Kawamori accompanies the article. 1 pg (B&W) reviewing the new Hi-Metal R VF-1S Strike Valkyrie (Ichijo Hikaru craft). 4x pg (colour & B&W) on the new Thunbderbirds - with the Kawamori designed mecha and blurb on his involvement included. 1/9 page (B&W) mini review of the Hasegawa 1/4000 SDF-1 Macross Fortress Ship - SDFM ver. Kawamori's regular column doesn't appear this issue.

This contact, was his or her statements specifically regarding Arcadia products? Is it the same with the other limited hobby stores you stated? Is it specifically 50 to 100 units per order?
