  1. when they changed the character designer?
  2. Is that ドラグノフ" or ドラグノフ? Please use [square brackets] when quoting Japanese. (Or one better, the actual Japanese quote marks 「」).
  3. Easy. Option a: copy and paste "VB-6 König Monster" from another source on the internet (ie http://www.macrossroleplay.org/Sketchley/S...riable_Fighters ) Option b: copy and paste from your text editor (and use the text editor's features to get the accented ö). Option c: learn ASCII code: http://homepage1.nifty.com/tabotabo/ccc/asci.htm Press and hold [alt] + 246 (for small) or 214 (for big) on your number keypad - may or may not work, depending on your version of windows (J-Win, K-Win, etc.) and/or your keyboard.
  4. From the compendium: http://macross.anime.net/story/chronology/1999/index.html There's nothing that states why, though as it was in the midst of the UN wars and text in the 2004 or 2005 section mentions a collapse in the world economy, it's most likely the result of both - personnel needed to fight in the war and no money to maintain the base. Not to mention that with destroyers and other space going ships becoming available, the need for an advance warning stationary facility on Mars was greatly reduced. From what I remember of the dialogue, it's implied that the Zentraedi placed those mines.
  5. As Mr.March said, and exactly how big would those buildings be if the ship is 5,000 m long? That fan conjecture certainly didn't have much logic behind it...
  6. Possibly. I haven't really done anything other than a cursory scan for what I can comprehend without having to pull out a kanji dictionary. I'm leaving it to Gubaba, as I've got my own Chronicles translation headache(s). The one other thing that I noticed is that it mentions the Planet "Messiah" and said planet being the 3rd in a star system (don't have the book in front of me, going by memory as I type.) Which basically is the same as what Azrael posted awhile back in a different thread regarding the development of the VF-25.
  7. See: http://www.macrossf.com/information/information.html for title info. BTW, the name of the CD is "VOCAL COLLECTION「娘たま♀」" or "VOCAL COLLECTION ALBUM 「娘たま♀」", which *may* explain why people aren't having much luck finding it in searches. Released today.
  8. Haven't read the compendium much, have you? Try: http://macross.anime.net/story/chronology/2013/index.html , Dec. 2030. And, lessee, for example, if a base population of 1 billion reproduces at 1% per year, that's 1 million people. In Macross, we even have cursury evidence that multiple births are promoted - Max and Miria having 7. EDIT: oops, it appears that Killer Robot already answered that. So I have this to add: with the OTEC medical care available, coupled with the culture of multiple births, IMHO the birthrate would be higher than 2%.
  9. Me too. Though, with the last 5 issues, I stopped removing the ad pages and adding them.
  10. Who knows, as it's a full-scratch build, the creator may "garage kit" it, and release it himself! Though, it looks like some to a quite a few parts are taken from VF-1 kits. The article even mentions uses the tips of GU-11 gun pods for the nacelle beam cannons.
  11. drifand, try: http://www.omniglot.com/writing/zentlardy.htm Basically, the text says "There are normal and Zentraedi type stickers! use whichever you like!" The binder will be onsale (or released) at the same time as issue #11. It doesn't look like there will be any changes to the first binder, other than the stickers. Hopefully they'll include additional dividers for the special sheet section...
  12. In case you're wondering, here's one of the images from the mag: The article even says that the VF-4 has six (6) engines!!! Jet engines, rocket engines and ramjet engines (though I can't figure out where these last ones would be located. Perhaps in the fuselage between the engine nacelles and the center pilot's compartment?) The article also states that the semi-recessed missiles, of which there are 12, are AMM-1 type (same as the VF-1.)
  13. Quickee scanlation of the VF-25 article I did: New info from Chronicle #10 on the VF-25S Length: 18.72 m Height: 4.03 m Width: 15.50 m Empty weight: 8,450 Kg Max G: 27.5+ G Engine: Shinsei Industry/P&W/RR FF-3001A stage II Thermonuclear Turbine Engine x2 Max thrust in space: 1,620+ kN x2 Max Speed: M5.0+ at 10,000 m Weapons: option of: Remmington ES-25A 25mm machine gun / Mauler ROV-25 25 mm beam cannon x2 Mauler ROV-127C 12.7 mm beam machinegun x4 Howard GU-17A new type 58 mm gun pod x1 Energy Conversion SWAG system Pin Point Barrier System Active Stealth System Chaff & Flare & Smoke discharger system AK/VF-M9 Assault Knife: equipped for use in battroid mode. Gaabaa Otec company. 1.65 m. Stored in the shield block. Super (something, probably the material) and able to be coated with the pin point barrier. In addition, some groovy stuff from Model Graphix #290 (I'm not sure the canon accuracy of the following): VF-24 from 2055 VF-25 from 2059 They also have VF-25's with the following squadron paint schemes: NUNS 25th Long Range Immigrant Fleet "Macross Frontier" Escort Force 5th Wing 1178 fighter squadron "tricksters" Shinsei Industries, LTD. Macross Frontier Arsenal/LAI Variable Fighters Development 50th Anniversary Marking (and another with "2nd idea" added) The mag has some other groovy things, such as: VF-0 "Moth Ball" (yup, a model of a moth balled VF-0!) S&C Weapons System VF-1QR (a VF-1 with a GU-17A new type gun pod) Full scratch build of a variable VF-4! Not only is there some new lineart (engine nacelle w/o missiles and landing gear extended (shame that it's a picture of the lineart lying on a table... >.< )), we get a nice rear view, as well as a wicked looking loadout: 2 UUM-7 missile pods mounted between the center fuselage and the engine nacelles, along with 4 RMS-1 missiles on the wings!
  14. It's possible if the planes were already badly damaged ("strap a few boosters on it, son. Just make it fly straight and level") or if the people doing the test wanted up-to-date combat performance data. There's always the real-life reasoning as well: it'd be far easier, cheaper and also give a sense of in-universe continuity/consistancy if a design was recycled. Though, come to think of it, they do have the practice drone in the first episode. So, there is a specific reason why a VF-11 based target drone is used.
  15. BTW, neo is a prefix, not a suffix...
  16. It could be a previously unknown and unseen unmanned fighter. Perhaps the UN Spacy continued to rely on the QF series while they worked out the bugs in the Ghost X-9. I'm tempted to say that it's a Ghost X-9 with a QF-3000 AI controlling it; but that's wild speculation at this point.
  17. If they're old units destined for the scrap yard... not to mention that these things happen in real life. Refer to all the nuke tests using captured and retired navel vessel.
  18. Already exists - the QVF-11 (not sure if QVF is the canon name of it. Nevertheless, the orange coloured VF-11's blown up real good in Macross Plus.)
  19. Ooo-aaa. I felt like a kid in a candy store when I went to the book shop today. Two new modeling magazines, featuring the VF-25 on the cover AND rather largish articles on Macross and Macross plastic model buildings (less on former, more on later.) I can only remember the first one I glanced at, Model Graphix. Why? They have a build-up of a VF-4. And lying next to the model in the picture is lineart of the VF-4's engine nacelle line art! *drool* I'm debating wheither I should pick it up or not. Nevertheless, total coolness seeing all the Macross related content taking up a large amount of bookstore shelf real estate.
  20. Agreed. I've cut back on Newtype, and I've already decided that if this latest Macross magazine is monthly, I'm going to have to give it a pass. Not to mention that space to store it all is running out...
  21. Speaking of that... in Macross 0 the VF-0 would not transform unless the VF was travelling below a certain speed. I can't remember if a speed is actually mentioned or indicated, but given the manuevers they were in the midst of, it was definitely below mach 1.
  22. If we're talking butchered pronunciation, even Klan could be. Different speakers of English have different ways of pronouncing, not to mention stressing, the "a". Ever heard the multiples of different ways "drama" can be spoken? Therefore, the onus is on the reader/speaker to learn or at least be aware of the Japanese vowel pronunciation. In this internet age, there's no excuse not to. If one can find and read this, they sure as heck can find and learn about Japanese pronunciation*. *Finding that link took 3 seconds. Typing in the BB code to hotlink it took 10 seconds. 3 times longer!
  23. And just think how many headaches would be solved if everyone did the Hepburn romanization and not an Anglicization. Kuran Kuran.
  24. Who says that the VF-0 doesn't have vernier thrusters? It's covered in plenty of P&W LHP04 low-thrust vernier thrusters beneath multipurpose hook/handles lookalikes. There is also a "space proving wing" version as well. Searching my feelings, I say: not having them named would make a bunch of anime fans crazy. They were named to keep the number of crazed otaku sending complaints and questions to a minimum. And we don't need a statistic for how fast a VF can accelerate, as that's dependant on variable factors (vehicle weight, gravity, friction). However, given the variables that we have (thrusts and weight) we can easily do the math to figure out the acceleration in specified circumstances.
