  1. Started translation of the book: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/index.php?topic=2103.0 I probably won't do much more, other than some of the other mecha.
  2. Macross Guru - image is a rough of the VF-19 Kai. Someone posted picts from the RVF-25 kit (either this thread, or another). I did some translations of it herein: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/Sketchley/S...VF-25/RVF25.htm Namely: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/Sketchley/S....htm#BACKGROUND (line about QF-4000) and http://www.macrossroleplay.org/Sketchley/S...#WEAPON_SYSTEMS (Head Mounted Sensors) If I find the time, I'll get the stuff on the Radome and Antenna translated. If... heh.
  3. Ah hahaha... kinda let the typing of the Oberth slide... anyhow: completed: Mechanic: M7 UN 09a: Macross 7 Fleet Escort Warships Started: Mechanic: D7 ETC 01a: Patrol Corps Mothership Also started: Worldguide 18a: Macross Frontier Fleet http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/index.php?topic=2102.0 (the titles within the pages have got me interested, and I'm definitely interested in completing this one.)
  4. The VA-3 should be earlier - possible the same block as the VF-5000/9 Given the size of the cockpit, the VF-14 is out of scale compared to the other VFs. VF-11 MAXL KAI (as opposed to the mention, but never seen VF-11 MAXL) is too small - should be the same size as the VF-11.
  5. Those older numbers don't make sense, as whenever we see the interior of the Factory Satellite, even for Buritai's flagship, it's cramped. However, the Furubusu Burensu Class is shown with an entire fleet parked inside of it's massive central chamber. The current Compendium article is a mess of old and new info, but my favourite line from it is: If that were the case, why would they need to be more massive than a Furubusu Burensu Class, especially as we only ever see one Furubusu Burensu Class per fleet? Why would a Furubusu Burensu Class even be needed, when the much more massive Factory Satellite could fullfill the same role? So yeah, the old numbers are inaccurate to the animation, and the new ones are more accurate, and raise far less questions.
  6. As Chronicle is being published under the auspices of Kawamori-san, it can't be wrong, right? Me thinks that what made the Furubusu Burensu Class is the same thing that made the Factory Satellite. Anime52k8 - you're still wrong. The Furubusu Burensu Class should be at least double the size of the Factory satellite. 1,400 Km > 3 Km 1,400,000 m > 3,000 m
  7. You do realise that 1,400 Km = 1,400,000 m, right?
  8. anime52K8 - your sizes are off: Furubusu Burensu Class: 890 Km x 510 Km Factory Satellie: 5 to more than 500 Km. (info from Macross Chronicle)
  9. My, this is a biased statement. It's a big world out there, sunny, and most of it does NOT speak English. Speaking of English... it does have some, and yours... well, japan vs Japan. Big difference!
  10. Yes. Newtype has (or had) a brief episode synopsis up to a month before the episode aired. I'm sure other guides on TV had larger synopsis. It's only the people who can't read Japanese that were blindsided. Re: ratings: looks like we'll have to include ratings for the Kansai region in addition to the Kanto region. Nevertheless, I think most fans with a HiViz TV would want to record the show on BD, if not watch it live in it's HiViz glory. I don't think any of the raws every got close to the broadcast level of detail. Nevertheless, this is all tangental - as my point was the writers/creators/producers/directors of the show listened to the audience, and changed the show to maintain and gain audience. Ratings are just one barometer of many to check.
  11. Shouldn't the VB-6 be in the "5th gen" or "6th gen" spot? (Possibly even the 4th gen?) ... as it appears in VF-X2, which takes place in 2050-51, meaning that it was developed and produced in the 2030s and 2040s? Not to mention the lack of "standard" 2040 and 2050 era VF tech; such as active stealth and PPB.
  12. I'm having a flashback of Captain Wilder. Other than the clothes and the name... not even the facial hair...
  13. my 2 cents: the writers were most likely reacting to the whims, wishes and demands of the fans. By this, I don't mean any communication other than what episodes had the highest ratings, what episodes had the lowest ratings. If memory serves, the mecha porn episodes (it may have just been eps. 07) had the lowest ratings. Changes probably happened after that (or not, given the amount of recycled animation, especially in combat sequences) to both maintain or gain viewers, as well as keep things within budget and delivered on time. So yeah, the series changed from its original vision, not necessarily because a new writer was brought on to collaborate with. Let's move on.
  14. That's just a silly extreme. Silly in that: how would they be built? How could they move without utterly obliterating everything in existance by the gravity disturbances? Silly.
  15. Picked it up today. The sequence is an interesting way to both truncate the blowing up of Gallia 4 and the following battle with the Frontier Fleet into a sequence that is both new, interesting and quite a big twist. Kudos for the writer for that. Again, the art is... nothing special (where are the backgrounds? The set-up shots? Why are the mecha bent?) Hopefully, he'll keep improving. At least to the point that mecha stops being bent.
  16. You were clear. What you're not realizing is: a) there are other people who aren't as inclined to buy the publication and would rather get it for free b) that the majority of the art in the publication comes already coloured and don't require any further retouching/processing/whatever Please start thinking about the big picture, and not only about yourself, thank you.
  17. You'll be waiting for a long time. It's a publication still being published. Scanning issues (partial or completely) equates to less sales, which means an increased likelihood that the publication will be ended prematurely. Go out and buy it, and support the cause. Running through Iss17: I'm a bit disappointed that the YF-19 C sheet is only on the transformation... The sub is cool, and if I'm reading things correctly, it fired torpedoes at the wood boat Mao Nome was in in M0! The big Sheryl Nome cover, as well as the focus on her for the Mihoshi Campus High School worldguide sheet is... well... couldn't they have given us a picture with something else more relevant to the high school? I'm sure having her on the cover will boost sales, but not following through (or following through in an oblique manner)? The Grande Cannon tech sheet provides another imagination stimulating image; the article reconfirms that there was only 5 (planned, not necessarily completed) cannons. I'm quite surprised that there isn't a gallery sheet nor history sheet this issue... saving up for Hikaru's big date? (In the grand scheme of things, it's not that big of an event, but (character) storywise, it's a pretty big scene.)
  18. Tentative, or planned. The Vajra scene isn't new - refer to the first episode of the series.
  19. It's actually quite surprising the number of Macross vehicles that don't indicate they are designed for atmospheric use / aerospace use / water use. I'm now of the opinion that if it doesn't specifically mention it, it's not designed for it. Take the Guantanamo Class vs. the Uraga Class: the former is called a space carrier, the later is called an aerospace carrier, and it is mentioned as having water going capabilities (I'll have to look a bit closer, but I believe it means not only able to land in water, but operate underwater.)
  20. Cause of the part in Chronicle that says "not based on the Valhalla III". Seriously - it only looks similar to the untrained eye because both are drawn by the same artist. Look at the engines. The location of the bridge. The VF hangar/launch mechanism (or lack of). Not to mention that the shapes are really, really, really, really, reeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy different. Does it also need to be mentioned that one is capable of atmospheric flight and water landing, but the other is described as an "attack submarine carrier" (but isn't necessarily capable of atmospheric flight)?
  21. To keep the main gun connected to the engines (that's why it had to transform in the first place). The iconic image probably was another factor as well.
  22. Given the size of these objects, their angle and speed of approach, and especially the limited amount of time between spotting the object and it passing (or worse, hitting!) the Earth, there may barely be enough time to determine the trajectory, let alone narrowing it down to hitting a specific continent or ocean! Personally, I'm more worried about a micro-meteorite hitting an airplane that I'm flying in, than one of the larger ones hitting. The actual impact won't be too bad, but the subsequent explosive decompression can give one nightmares about flying.
  23. You do realize that Macross Chronicle's stats are far from complete. Take the VF-1 for example. There are oodles of sheets, yet I have yet to come across mention of the number of AMM-1 missiles it carries - which are standard loadout in SDF:M. By far, the vast majority of info on SDF:M and M+ mecha comes from Perfect Memory and TiA Special: Macross Plus (specifically the Valkyrie report). However, until the exact source is confirmed (it may be a model kit ), I'm not about to waste precious time trying to locate what may not be in either of the aforementioned books.
  24. VF-1 and VT-1 are related. The Galaxy Patrol Ship and the Variable Stealth Carrier are not.
