  1. I doubt the Cheyenne and Cheyenne II would get short shift. Seto does have a good point. However, if it's anything like the other two pages published to date that have been on multiple vehicles, it'll be a first page cover, followed by only two (2) of the vehicles in question - making it a 4 (2 double sided) page presentation in total.
  2. Could be referring to one of the pre-Tomahawk MBR-04 Mk VI variants that is called, "destroid". Could this be an Earth Trekker??? Our first not-appeared-in-an-anime stats sheet?????
  3. Macross Chronicle is definitely "tech speak for the hard core techie". Even the wife (Japanese, native speaker), has, on more than a handful of occasions, mentioned (complained?) that the words used in Chronicle are not standard. Nevertheless, I've gotten proficient at the majority of the kanji used when it comes to ships (or at least the diction of the author of those articles.) The headache returns when I tackle the other articles. Anyhow, it is a shame that the publication is ignoring/not presenting a bunch of information on Macross II. Hopefully the translation efforts of yourself and others will pay off, and we'll be able to collate a complete resource somewhere.
  4. I wouldn't write off the Macross II articles in Macross Chronicle just yet. The lion's share of the information has yet to be published, let alone translated (if it has, sorry, and could you provide links to it.)
  5. Not necessarily. Foreign sounding words and names are cool. How many of you have written a book or played an RPG character with a foreign (Japanese?) name for the same coolness factor? グッグッグッグッグ~!
  6. Not necessarily. Macross 7 is outside of the scope of their agreement (SDF:M only).
  7. For all the answers that you seek: http://macross.anime.net/wiki/Main_Page
  8. Don't forget that the VF-0 needs extra space for fuel. It needs so much, it has extra conformal fuel tanks mounted dorsally
  9. If it's Asian, it's Korean. Here's the rule of thumb for ALL Asian names: Surname first, Given name last. Take care of your info source, as they may not be following the rule (generally social science textbooks are good for it, but pop culture tabloids are not, et naseum).
  10. (puzzled as how this thread is morphying from requesting for clarification to insulting the membership)
  11. It was quite clear: a general warning was put out to return to topic, with a warning that the next people to post off topic will get a temporary ban. You two continued to post off topic. Therefore, temporary ban.
  12. Glanced at some of the latest hobby magazines: VF-25 Full Armour mock up - looks sweet. Especially because it looks like one will be able to open up all of the missile launchers! Wing speakers and the super fold booster kit looks like it's coming along quite nicely.
  13. I think I can agree with this. There's nothing wrong with the characters per se, just the abnormally large breast sizes of some of the female characters. It is the one thing that actually prevents me from recommending the series to other (non-anime fan) people. What a turn off... @ MisaForever: next time, ignore the tangental discussions. By drawing attention to them, you're more than likely to increase their presence in the thread, thus defeating the purpose of your post(s).
  14. Did a quick scanlation of the relevant pages in "Shoji Kawamori Macross Design Works": - designed as a "voume up" (increased volume) VF-1 - refined VF-1 design; looking closer to the Grumman F-14 Tomocat - silhouette deliberately made to not look like the Armoured Valkyrie, but parts of it (I believe it specifically mentions the legs) have the same silhouette as the Super Valkyrie. - side image of the VF-1 and VF-3000 is showing the thickness of the two, to highlight how differently the two transform (it specifically mentions radome, pilot block/compartment, etc.) It does have the kanji for "that size/enlargement", but given the content of the rest of the paragraph, I believe it is referring to how thick the side profile is, not the height difference. Therefore, the 16.38 m tall version makes more sense, given the known fighter mode size. More fun info from the web:
  15. Oh how silly of me. I guess defending one's arguement in a discussion about the target audience of Macross F is not discussing Macross. Pfft. Whatever.
  16. Ah, apologies for that. Though, Mr. Caveman, your question could have been phrased better to differentiate it from the topic of Macross F not being produced for the Japanese teen. The point still stands that people from outside of Japan should not automatically assume that Japan (or any other country, nation, or culture) is exactly the same as their own. Though I find it odd that you claim that I'm bragging that I live here (Japan). Wouldn't bragging have been: "I've lived in Japan a long time, and you don't, ha ha! U sux!" instead of the "As a long time resident, who teaches Japanese teens on a daily basis," that I wrote, which is a fact added to confirm that I have first hand experience with the subject of the arguement?
  17. You're question is intriguing. As it shows more about yourself than about questioning my arguement. It basically states that you are assuming that a foreign culture and lifestyle is exactly the same as your native culture. Please do a little research* before asking, thank you. In answer to your question: obviously people who work for a living have a lot more money available to spend than people in junior high school who don't have jobs.** *Recommended reading: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_in_...ior_high_school http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juku (education isn't cheap. These kids don't have part-time jobs. Nor do they tend to have the free time to do anything but school - club (usually sports, esp. baseball) - juku - homework. It's actually "normal" for junior high school teenagers to study until 4 AM, getting up at 7 or 7:30 AM the next day. This is especially true come exam time. It's quite alarming. Mind you, the Grade 3 or 4 student I have who makes the same statement is generally agreed to be not normal; by both peers and adults.) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_in_...ndary_education (the "examination hell" paragraph) **Caveat: yes, not everyone in Japan who finishes junior high school continues on to high school; and of those, not as many continue on to higher education. However, once finished school (junior high school, or otherwise), the person joins the workforce - which I included with my original post ("just started working crowd"); which is inclusive of Freeters and NEATs/NEETs. Yes, some of them could be classified as teenagers, but as they are not persuing the typical teenage lifestyle (see exam hell lifestyle), it is more realistic to classify them as part of the workforce.
  18. I'm just curious where the impression comes from that the show is aimed for Japanese teens, let alone that Japanese teens have the free time to watch it? Haven't you guys heard of examination hell? As a long time resident, who teaches Japanese teens on a daily basis, I can say that the vast majority haven't heard of the show, let alone have interest in either watching anime or staying up late at night to watch TV. Therefore, it's a fairly safe bet to state that the show is aimed at the university student/just started working crowd/20-something generation.
  19. Go with the silent mod. No one will know who did it, thus they'll only have the boards as a target, not a specific person/moderator. It'll save you a lot of grief, and headaches. (Speaking as a moderator // administrator on another forum)
  20. Acguy is acceptable. It's funky and campy, like most of the rest of the late '70's designs in the original Gundam. For bad mecha: I know they were trying to copy Shirow-san's design from the original - but what's with the additional set of legs??? Sorry, the original design was cool. The powered suit in GiTS SAC was great. Not this troglodyte.
  21. Ignoring others (see debate in other thread): Chronicle Figures: Fulbtzs-Berrentzs: 890 Km tall, 510 Km wide Factory Satellite: 500 Km long The scales seem off for the Factory Satellite and Gorg-Bodolza fortress (at 500 Km high). The width of the Fulbtzs-berrentzs, Factory Satellite and Laplamiz fortress should be approximately the same, and all slightly less than Gorg-Bodolza's Fortress.
  22. ROFLMAO This has to be a first. Aruto is both in the #1 spot (Mr. Macross) and the #3 spot (Miss Macross)!!!
  23. G Gundam. <shudders> I think the worst thing about that series, is the mecha are pure stereotypes. Stereotypes that aren't necessarily accurate, either!
  24. Who's sketch? You mean this guy? http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showuser=1441 Re: the 10 gigaton reaction missiles: they contain 24 small warheads (call it the ultimate multi-warhead missile) and are anti-fleet missiles (I did a double take when I read that. Usually these things are anti-air, anti-fighter, or anti-ship. But anti-fleet?! That's some serious muscle.)
  25. Great Mechanics.DX 8 is out. It's got a decent sized article on the Macross universe, from Zero to F; including a new* timeline. The article breaks down into eras: M0 to SDF:M (ASS-1 landing, Birdman battle, UN Wars, SWI, VFs and Destroids, Earth, mass (vast/large) emigration period, 30 years of exploration/colonization) M+ to MF (Zentraedi assimulation, discovery of planets able to emigrate to, Protoculture, Super Large scale emigration ships**, Vajra, super fold drives, NUNS and SMS, Localized VFs) <sigh> A lot of the info looks juicy. I wish I had more time and my translation skills worked faster. *New as newly printed. Could have new info. Maybe. ** Macross Frontier is referred to as an Island Cluster Class, echoing the Macross Chronicle information.
