  1. Don't know what the yen rate was of the real grade zaku but asking of a tinted plastic nose sensor isn't too much. Not like I am asking for the engine impeller fans to be molded in gray or silver. Or better yet a consistent scale ie 1/72 like all the other Macross F models. If Bandai is releasing a fixed mode 1/100 and then variable 1/72... Fine but if the only offerings in the future are 1/100 models and 1/60 DX toys then that sucks because nothing will match with the Hasegawa Macross models. Edit: It does have a display stand so that is nice but the wings leading edges are molded in red and not white. That will be a real problem to decal or paint.
  2. Ugly little thing. Nose sensor being a decal is a lazy cop-out. Why is the Alto canopy clear plastic and not tinted. For the Sheryl scheme and Ranka hope and glad they aren't tinted. But honestly, different color canopies? Are they like an aircraft version of a mood ring?
  3. The launch arms and mini-VFs give your SDF-1 the detail of a Faberge Egg. This is truly a museum quality build.
  4. Andy, Welcome to the VF-17 club. Glad to see this still stirs up interest. I hope that your work will inspire Bandai to release a VF-171. Please post pictures of mod.
  5. Another child star gone bad nasty? or the lime green?
  6. NO not the live action. This one We can keep Queen for the ending credits like at the end of Spider-man 1.
  7. Flash Gordon, The Greatest Adventure of All. Great animated movie that needs a live action version to match... or at least a DVD release of the original movie.
  8. That is what is so sad about the day counter on HLJ. I went over 260 days since last purchase and then jumped in on the last websale for the GNU VF-11, YF-19 and YF-21 fastpacks. The last big purchase, non HLJ, was a Bandai YF-25 last month and it will be my last for sometime to come. Really wish it would get a general release.
  9. Have done business with then about a half dozen times. Haven't had a problem.
  10. Very disturbing, Since they were in the box, no light, hence no UV. Could it be oxidation of the plastic? I could understand a deterioration due to a cleaning solution reacting with the plastic yet again never left the box so doubt they would have needed cleaning. Need a chemist to determine what compound is deteriorating/venting from those particular formulas of plastic. Since my Alto Super pack version has never left the box, wonder what it looks like.
  11. Mommar's theory has me really worried considering that it is valid assumption with David's observation that the DX VF-25S didn't have the correct back plate.
  12. Wow, that Ranka version will be difficult to decal. Too bad it is 1/100 and not the same 1/72 as the other idol versions. Hope that the white stripes are cast in white plastic and people are not forced having to paint white over red plastic. For the pictures of the YF-25, the white stripes over the orange didn't work too well.
  13. Interesting point. Like the VF-22 much better than the YF-21. Yet to be true to the constant MW bitching had to suffer the sound force VF-11 MAXL Kai before seeing the VF-22. Thought the YF-19 was great. Like the VF-19A. Took time to warm up to the VF-19 Kia. So it is not the wings. The new valk has element of aircraft that are great on their own. The YF-19, SV-51 and VF-25. The engines on the wings are ES-11D Cat's Eye-ish. Put a radome on top and it may make a interesting electronic warfare variant. As the saying goes "Looks good, flies good." and we have only see the fighter. That is only 1/3 of the product. Need to see Gerwalk and Battroid. If it is an ugly design to make a better toy/model, how about making the VA-3. That is an ugly aircraft that I'd love to have. It only takes some effort to manufacture a good toy. Just look how far Yamato has come since the 1/72 Macross Plus valks. Edit: On making good toys just look at the customs people have done with the old Bandai 1/65 VF-17 or the excellent models from Captain America.
  14. The more pictures, the worse it gets. If Bandai just wants to make more valks then make the VF-171 and VF-171 EX, both fighter and Elint versions. No controversy over a mashing of designs with a Nirvash livery. Does this mark the end of the golden age of Macross? Call it Macross and see if the fans will lap it up?
  15. I like the Nirvash but if I wanted a Eureka Seven colored valk then I would make my own. Even Focker isn't drunk enough to think this looks good. Clearly disapprove in both the toy and model thread.
  16. Graham, Thanks for the link/pics. Really like the YF-25 with armor. Makes me want the model even more.
  17. Never in the history of Macross has a design worked so hard to be disliked by so many.
  18. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=26951&st=0 Not the best on the street but a decent job of making a toy of a model considering this is what a future VF-100 VF-2SS would be like. Without the resin conversion kit you can buy two plastic models and some sheet plastic to make one VF-2SS with removable SAP.
  19. The plot for Macross F the Movie II, Alto crashes on Macross Junk World and has to build a new aircraft from left overs to escape.... Ala "The Return of Starbuck". Now that is being cynical.
  20. Asked the "Why" in the other thread and the how about.... After thinking about this cobbled together thing. All I can say is Robotech. There was a comic "Malcontent Uprising" or something similar where the antagonists/renegade zentradi had build mechs from parts of destroids, valks, and other bits of junk. Sadly, the YF-29 reminds me that. I hope this an early April Fools joke.
  21. WHY? No VF-171, no general release of the two seat YF-25. Not in scale with the 1/72 VF-25 and VF-27 models. Sorry but this is a waste of effort.
  22. I bought a 1/72 VF-4 and the wing warped a little. It was one of those "no manufacture listed" models but was the only thing on the market. Here is a link that I used for help when I built mine. http://www.starshipmodeler.com/mecha/bb_vf4.htm Other than a good washing of the parts, it is a good idea to use metal to reinforce the pieces. Mine is stored in a box somewhere but wouldn't mind getting another one in the future.
  23. Yeah, and if someone had wrote that there was a proposed Macross series where the main character doesn't fight and flies with a guitar, first impression would be ????. That is why first impressions are a bit off base. I love the new 19 but the last time I liked a mech without know the story it became a serious flop.... Engage Planet Kissdum. Hope that Ride is so good that we get models and an OVA out of it...or at least some new valks to unlock in the PS3 or PSP games that are due out.
  24. Agree, if you want a VF racer just remove the transformation mechanisms and weapons. Less weight goes faster on the same engine but not a very interesting story plot. Just hope that Hasegawa or Bandai give us some models from this series since I really like the new 19.
  25. Vote with money. I like that theory and wish I had more money. Too bad we can't play with a VF-171 in a game and have it count as a vote for toy and model production.
