  1. I have an updated ship/weapon listing document for anyone who wants to try to aid us in setting up properly proportioned health/armor/damage values ("balancing", some might say). Anyone who wants to give it a go, PM or otherwise contact me ASAP. I would also encourage anyone who wants to help out in areas such as research tree design/development and adjusting build values to contact me ASAP.
  2. I started to go into some form of withdrawal with my MW. Especially with my work on our HW2 Macross project starting up again. Glad that balance has finally been restored to the universe again.
  3. ATTN: The_Major - please contact me ASAP! We are, in fact, back in action again. Expect some preliminary screens of the currently-being-updated effects soon (primarily the main guns - "buster cannons" - on the UNS and Meltrandi Gun Destroyers). In the meantime, please feel free to join our new IRC channel - #DYRL on irc.quakenet.org Also don't forget to check the thread on the Relic boards periodically as well.
  4. Have you tried any of the Sig 220 series? Not sure myself how well those with smaller hands deal with them (I'm the type who finds the Berettas with their larger grip circumference), but definitely worth a look. Everyone I know who I've gone shooting with has shot one of my friends' 220-series (either a P228 or P229 - basically the same anyway, IIRC its just a difference in metals used) really likes them. I myself am looking to get a P226 when I can afford it (being a college student who's into Macross and primarily a shotgunner as far as firearms are concerned, I haven't had enough "spending money" to start getting into handguns for myself that much yet) Also, if I recall correctly, there is a single stack or two in the 220 series. Isn't there a single-stack compact Glock as well? That may be something to consider. I'm not a terrible glock fan though; while good guns, I myself prefer a USP or Sig. Are you going to stick with the standard front sight / gas block? If so, I say go with the former. Not terribly useful to have a folding rear right when your big front sight is still there. If you're going with folding sights, I'd go all the way and replace the front with a folding sight gas block too. At least that's my opinion, and I also haven't tried an AR with only a rear folding sight and optics, so it's probably not much. Regardless, EOTechs are the way to go.
  5. It is up to you to some extent - one of the main things we need before a release is the Macross. And you're the one fixing her up now.
  6. But then you would need a whole new forward fuselage, cockpit and canopy. The cockpit and canopy on the VEFR-1 is basically the same (maybe identical to) that of the VF-1D. It does not have the VT/VE style bubble canopy, or the cockpit / forward fuselage that goes with it. If this is done, it should be done from a VF-1D base.
  7. I'll be there. Not sure if I'll be there for Friday (last day of finals here at the University, and I'm unfortunate enough to have one then), but I will definitely be there for the rest of the con.
  8. Downpayment sent for me as well!
  9. No, it's called a PM. PM us for direct contact details.
  10. OMFG. I need to start saving for some of these. Now.
  11. I'm in for one, assuming I can keep enough spare cash around until then...
  12. The game is just amazing. Had I not been out of town for the weekend, I would've been playing it nonstop.
  13. Need (and have needed) to pay some bills, so my Maya has been set up for work stuff and not SWO stuff... Give me a week and I can start getting stuff together again. EDIT - Major, those forums are off-site, hosted by a guy who was enthusiastic about both projects. Seemingly he has disappeared off the face of the Earth, as his main site is still like that too.
  14. The biggest thing now is that both the MPAA and RIAA seem to be going after the means of transmission, not the offenders. They go to shut down torrent sites and the like as a means to try to curb the piracy. The thing is, such applications and media are used to transfer and share perfectly legitimate content. Examples: an artist puts their own work out there (as previously mentioned); in the case of torrents, normal publicly-released (free) files are shared and distributed (game patches, trailers, etc). It's really rediculous. It's like trying to go after the postal service because people can send illegal copies of books, movies, and albums to one another through it. It's not going after the criminals - it's going after a legitimate means of information transfer, which happens to be abused by a number of individuals.
  15. I've heard this complaint several times from ex-Bundeswehr individuals (regarding the red-dot, primarily). Probably the reason why KSK and other special forces units are often seen using the single-optic carry handle with EOTech's monuted on them. Such a pity. German optics are generally excellent all-around.
  16. Either, just give me some Destroids! And some Zentradi mecha (e.g., Regults), too!
  17. Do not forget the UNS Oberth and Calliara destroyers. Eighteen large vertical launch tubes for reaction-warhead missiles. With forward observers to locate and identify the targets, these would/could be very powerful indeed. (Recall that the Oberths and ARMDs got the crap blown out of them partly because they had effectively no advance knowledge or warning of the enemy forces.)
  18. This is already pretty well replicated with how I have the weapon accuracy, positoning, and "aim box" (I forget wtf HW2 calls it, but its the percentage of the extents that ships aim for). There are also allotments of different "caliber" beam weaponry; that is, there is allowance for varying effectiveness for the beams, so few can be very powerful, some can be pretty powerful, and the bulk can just be alright. The other thing is, I suggest disregarding HW2 values altogether, and base everything on a totally new, arbitrary scale. This prevents trying to scale things in any way to stuff that's already in existence.
  19. To all those who want to help: I will be compiling a list of all ships and thier weaponry and posting a link here. It may be best to have several people working together, as it will be boring, pain-in-the-ass type of work (well, at least IMO).
  20. Alright, I'm going to make this short for now (just lost my whole original post ) It would be much appreciated if someone could lend a hand to the MDYRL:SWO HW2 project in the role of "Weapons Analyst". Not somebody like Nanashi (a technical consultant to the project), but someone to go over and set appriopriate damage, penetration, armor, health, etc values for weapons and ships. Right now things are a bit jumbled in that area, with units that were put in at the same time being in scale with each other in these respects (thus leaving us with sets of units which "make sense" in these terms, but each set conflicts with the others making things a bit incorrect) Basically, we would like someone to go over the current lists of ships and weaponry and assign appropriate values to all of them (not saying all values - just the aforementioned basics: health, armor, damage, and penetration). We've got our hands full at the moment with other aspects of the project as well as real life, and would appreciate the effort.
  21. I think he's talking about the top view - how the engines have that sharp transition about halfway back. Would probably be worth an extra row of polygons to have it not be so sharp.
  22. Best bet would be to save in numerous common formats supported by your app, so that we can then see which converts the most cleanly and easily over for work in Maya.
  23. EDIT - Found the scans that somebody put up on MW a long while back. Here you go. If anyone wants other parts of the scans, I saved all of them. Thanks to whoever originally scanned and posted them.
  24. Several thousand for capitals should be fine. Actually, I've been increasing the detail of some of Lestat's Meltrandi ships lately by adding more "goblin" type structures (i.e., making the raised bumps actual geometry, which is faded out as sort of a "bonus LOD" in between 0 and 1) The only problems arise with the really big ships - LOD for the large flagships doesn't work so well, due to the sheer size of the ships and the fact that the more advanced lighting in HW2 is basically only on LOD0 (though it seems to also be distance-based; whichever comes first, I think). This causes more abrubt and noticable switches on the very large craft. And it's best to have a balance of geometry and textures. Too low-res of textures will result in an incredibly bad-looking result, no matter how much extra detail is in geometry; the key is to acheive a good balance which is effecient and effective.
  25. I've had some health concerns to take care of, and have been working on paying work lately instead. I will most likely be working more intently on SWO after classes start in a week (as then my other works slows).
