  1. I have been semi-retired myself. In my opinion the quality of available Macross cels has been low for some time, but strangely, the prices have been high. The same dozen or so cels have been up on Yahoo Japan for as long as I can remember (I don't collect Macross 7 so none of those interest me). I still keep track though of what is going on with the various sources in hopes a "must have" item shows up. Here is the last thing I bought, a couple of months ago now I think.
  2. For anyone who collects/is interested in Robotech: The Sentinels, the Robotech Academy project running over on Kickstarter has just been updated with a pledge level that includes a cel from The Sentinels (along with the other things specific to the project itself). https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1381502542/robotech-academy
  3. Nice stuff jvmacross. I would share something as well but I haven't bought anything new in quite some time. So it goes. Oh and I dig the avatar Swann. I have the cel for that I think over in my gallery.
  4. Those are 0.5" squares in the pictures so the model is about 3" x 1.5".
  5. I just recently got in an order from Shapeways for a couple 1/200 Gnerl Fighters. Very cool stuff. I was impressed with the quality of the 3D print. Each fighter is a single piece. The only down side is there is a little bit of surface texture left over from the printing process. Not that big of a deal as I intend to use these as tabletop gaming pieces. The other models shown for scale are by Nichimo, except for the Q-Rau, which is a gashapon figure.
  6. Outstanding! I vote for offering them in 1/200. My wallet is out and ready. Name your price!
  7. Sorry, none of my cels are for sale. I would suggest watching the Yahoo Japan auctions and the private dealer sites. There are always Macross cels there of one type or another. Just depends on what exactly you are looking for and how much you are willing to spend. Mok
  8. I like how it's coming along so far. Nice to see my original production sketch is of some use, even if some details may vary from other sources. I expect your first prototype will be quite impressive.
  9. I vote for 1/200 scale! I collect the Nichimo line of kits and am always looking for other Macross mecha and vehicles that would match this scale. It is a fantastic scale for table top gaming, which is my ulterior motive here. I am also super interested in a cat's eye recon in this scale.
  10. Haha, thanks Marzan, although that should read, if YOU have any cels for sale you should be letting ME know, lol. I typically don't sell items from my collection but I am always interested in trades for other Macross artwork.
  11. Thanks for the compliment rusted180, and the plug for my gallery, lol. I can't say I have been very active lately in the community, probably due to a general lack of cels out there that interest me and the crazy high price lately. Here is my gallery for those who haven't come across it yet. http://mokman.rubberslug.com/gallery/home.asp And here are a couple of my favorites for you to look over.
  12. Glorious stuff jvmacross. Thanks for sharing.
  13. Hello all. I was recently contacted by a friend of mine and fellow cel collector who is looking to sell two Miriya cels through a private transaction. If anyone is interested send me a message and I will get the two of you in touch to pursue it further. *edit I have put all of the relevant information in the for sale forum.
  14. Thanks all. It's not what I want, obviously, but not that big of a deal with the job. I am not hurting for cash but there isn't any for "extras" like cels and such. But then again, with the way Macross cel prices have been going the last few years even if I had a job I probably wouldn't want to spend that much anyways, lol.
  15. Nice grabs there Reflex Point. I particularly like the Southern Cross and Mospeada ones. There were a few Southern Cross cels on Yahoo Japan last week I think it was but alas, with no job at the moment I couldn't justify the expense. It has been quite a while since my last cel purchase at all now that I think of it, lol. And yes, the $2.5k boundary is a scary thing to approach, much less the $2k or even $1k. I did so for my holy grail but don't think I would again for anything else. Anyways, thanks for sharing. Nice stuff there.
  16. I would be interested in a 1/200 scale version to go with my Nichimo kit collection (a variety of other craft as well as a matter of fact), but sadly 1/72 scale doesn't interest me at this time.
  17. Haha, no not all the Macross cels, but if there is a character out there that I don't already have chances are I will go for it.
  18. Here is my latest purchase, just a minor find. It was cheap though, probably because it is an unimportant character and was listed as an Orguss cel, lol. The background is most certainly not correct and is hopelessly stuck to the cel. Oh well.
  19. I have not been very active in the cel community of late (economic factors and a lack of available cels out there that I am really interested in) but I thought I would share my latest acquisition. I had been aware of this cel for some time and watched it listed and not sold several times. Finally something of a bidding war opened on it and I was able to find the financial backing to win the auction. Gotta say I am very happy with it, being my favorite character, Max, and his wife Miriya.
  20. Hey VeganMike, sounds like you are well on your way. I am also writing some Macross miniature combat rules (centered on aerial dogfights, no ground action at this point) and decided to go with the 1/200 scale. I have found the scale is easy to work with and the models base nicely on 60x60mm bases. As mentioned by other members this scale is close to the Battletech game and also quite similar to other 25-28mm miniature games like Warhammer and Warmachine. The main factor that went into my decision though, as I am sure you have found out, is the availability of the various mecha in the 1/200 scale. The Nichimo model line has regular, super and armoured Veritechs, all of the Battle Pod types, and all of the destroids except for the Phalanx and the Monster, which can be found from ARII in 1/200 scale. So the only mecha missing really are the Destroid Phalanx and the Zentraedi Fighter Pod and Male and Female Power Armors. There is a Female Power Armor from one of the Gashapon sets that I have found works very nicely so really there are only 3 mecha not available in this scale. I don't think you can do quite as well finding all the mecha in either the 1/100 or 1/144 scales. I have also found that if you want to have humans or Zentraedi modeled on foot outside their mecha, 10mm and 28mm figs respectively work ok and can be found at any good hobby game store. Anyways, good luck to you. The 2 pictures I have included are a scale line art drawing from the Perfect Memory book and a few of my models (left to right: Yamato Battloid and Veritech, Nichimo Battloid and Veritech, Nichimo Officer Pod, Nichimo Battle Pod, Gashapon Power Armor, and a 28mm sculpting dollie). Also as a side note on modeling, when you get your Battle Pods (I think you got Nichimo kits, correct?) you will notice that they come with the pieces to make either standard pods or the missile pods. I built mine with small magnets in the body cavity and pieces of sheet metal under the missile pods/gun turrets so I can make any combination of pod varieties I need using the same models.
  21. Lol, that is always the key. There is a very nice Minmei on Yahoo Japan auctions at the moment. The seller had it listed previously with a buy out price of $1.5k if I remember correctly but it didn't sell. So it is on regular auction now, current bidding around $300. I expect it will see allot more action before the auction is done.
  22. Now that Anime Expo and Comic Con are behind us, anyone find any treasures that they would like to share with us all? I didn't go to either con myself. A friend of mine did find a cel for me though at Comic Con from the Canadian show Rock & Rule. I will post it in my Rubberslug gallery once I get it.
  23. Rubberslug galleries are quite easy to make and fast, depending on how much time you want to spend adding text and banners and playing with the colors. There is no website design skills necessary to do it. It is all form based with drop down boxes for most of the options. You just fill in the text info you want in the appropriate fields and upload a scan of your cel and away you go. It shouldn't take you more than a minute per cel to add it to an established gallery once you get the hang of it. I am in the Rubberslug chat room most nights if you find you need help with something.
  24. I have added two new cels to the collection. Both are fan cels but are of the utmost quality. It is my understanding that the Max and Miriya cel is taken from some magazine artwork (the Misa is obviously from Flashback). I have been unable to find any images of the appropriate magazine. Has anyone seen it before? Can you point me in the right direction please?
  25. Ah it is then. Thanks TheLoneWolf. I guessed that the Minmei cel was from the PS1 game as well but like I said, I couldn't find it in any of the YouTube videos I watched so I wasn't sure. Thanks again.
