I agree the cel shows an updated style to the character design. My question though is which game and scene was the cel made from if indeed it is from a video game like the Hikaru cel is. The cel is dated 1997 so the source cannot be newer than then.

Yes I payed about $250 for the both of them through an auction site (no one else bid). I did not add in the shipping costs from Japan which were somewhat considerable because the cels are framed and kind of heavy. By the way, can any identify the source of the Minmei cel ? It is obviously supposed to be from the end scene of DYRL when Minmei finishes singing and raises the note with the song lyrics on it but the style of the artwork seems to be a little different to me. The Hikaru cel from the set is from a game cut scene so I would think the Minmei cel is also but I was not able to find it anywhere. Well in the videos on Youtube at least. Here are the cels for those who did not see them in my Rubberslug gallery.

I payed about $250 for both of them. The certificates of authenticity have a price of 30,000 yen on them but I don't know if that is each or for both. Either way I think I got them for less than the original sale price.

Hehe, thanks baronv. I didn't even know myself that they were that limited until I actually got one in my hands. I saw the set at Anime Expo back in 2005 but I guess I didn't pay that much attention to them.

Huh, very interesting. I am completely unfamiliar with the scene you are refering to. I guess in fact my dvd is an incomplete cut. Oh well, lol. And yes, the sketches are the orginal Kawamori works.

Hello everyone. Yes this is the Mokman baronv was refering to. Just came across the thread myself. Outstanding stuff valkyrie13! Congrats! I too really like the Flashback 2012 cels. I am curious about the one though with Misa and Minmei. My copy of the dvd at least doesn't have that scene. In fact I have never seen that shot before at all.
