  1. Though not the most accurate art they are really cool shots, not ones you see often, and Culverin, what's your issue with the thread?
  2. Let's see from the realm of TV and movies only, therefore I can exclude my own designs, what can I say I am partial to them. Starfury's (B5) one of the most realistic designs I have seen on TV Viper MK2 (New BSG) A major improvement over the original, better visibility and the way they animated it, well it looked like actual physics were in place. B-wing + A-Wing (SW) To be honest these are best designed star wars craft, from a practical standpoint, while not as iconic or flashy as the X-wing or tie fighter they are clearly better designs. Gunstar (LS) Not a really a fighter but more of a light gunboat, it's design was fairly realistic and well thought out with a seperate pilot and gunner. Hammerhead (SAAB) Great transatomspheric fighter, looked real and for the most part acted real, at least it had thrusters for manuevering, though I was never wild about the control layout in the cockpit. Bad Designs (I know I will get flamed for some of these, but sorry the designs really are piss poor, even though I hate to admit it) X-wing, Ties (SW) Hate to say it but these designs are not that great, poor visibily being the primary concern, lets face it in an X-wing you have virtually no forward visibilty and in the TIEs you have only forward visibilty. Any trek "fighter" things are more akin to the scale of gunboats, bomber or corvettes, but what am I saying I think almost all trek designs stink. I agree with some of the others listed here, though you only asked for fighters and I will not mention them then. Design is a lot more then just visual appeal to me, realism and usibility count a great deal in my thoughts and a fighter with little to know visibility is junk in my opinion. Realism also counts a great deal in my opinion and most sci-fi movie and TV designs are not realistic in my opinion. A little fudging is ok for storytelling considerations but not too much.
  3. Any updates on this baby?
  4. I have no problem with overweight people, many of my friends are in fact. The problem I have with this guy is that he does not look like at all like the character he is dressing up as, that and the unitard *shudders*
  5. Oh man that is just scary, almost as bad as man faye. though it begs the question as to what kind of program he is suppossed to be, maybe some kind of FAT-32 drive partioning software?
  6. How hard is it to put a new plane into flight simulator? What modelling format does it require? Do you just plug in a bunch of BS values for the performance figures or is it more like X-Plane where it performs an analysis of the design to some up with the figures? I'm just curious because I might be tempted to try and put some of my designs in just to be able to fly them around. I've only had moderate success in other programs, ok none to be truthful.
  7. Oh man those pics from the January underway of the Enterprise got out, man, Dr G I gave you those in confidence man. Seriously great work, can't wait to see more.
  8. It is interesting I will give it that, but it is too unbelievable a design. I like the idea of the decoys, but those would be too small to really fool anyone, unless they're like those lame inflatable ones in Gundam. Also those attack drones would be a pain to seperate in flight in an atmosphere, there we would far too high a risk of collision with the launchign aircraft where they are now.
  9. Well I wonder: 1) is this official, as I don't see any BW logo or SK signature, though I may ahve missed it. 2) why mount them above the fuselage like that, it would seem that the pilot would want to launch them immediately upon entering the combat zone, too much drag and weight on the airframe otherwise. 3) are you sure those are some sort of high manuever missile and not just aam-1s, its hard to tell from the pics 4) the small pic of the VF-0 with the highlighted cockpit, what is that saying there?
  10. At least the Marge cover is funny, Paris Hilton, I'm sorry you stupid spoiled little rich hoe but you're a freak nasty.
  11. Here is video number three, sorry number two ended up too big and well turned out pretty bad too. This program Accurender is nice, but attaching textures can be a pain in the butt, I spent about half an hour just getting the textures to stich correctly. I'm still having to attach the textures by layer and create new layers as well as recreate the textures in accurender. I e-mailed the company hoping they had a way arouind this in the new version but have not heard anything back yet. animation two splicer 1000 fighter
  12. What I've always been curious about concerning that scene is where the heck is that on the SDF-1? That is a heck of a concentration of firepower afterall.
  13. those lines are from the software, it puts them there since it is only the trial version. I am still debating whether or not to buy it.
  14. Well here it is. I downloaded a trial copy of Accurender for AutoCAD, and gave it a spin today. Right now it is a bit of a pain because of how it assigns materials. basicaly I will have to assign layers to each different object and reassign their textures. Anyway here is the first aniamtion I did with it. I only used two textures so it is a little simple. I used a fly around and well i was experimenting so it is not the greatest. let me know what you think. Oh yeah this is just a simple cruiser. Anyway here it is: Animation 1
  15. Looks good for now, try dirting it up a bit, get some good low-viz decals to dress it up. Love the Phoenixs, tried any other real world armaments yets, Sparrows, AMRAAMS, Sidewinders, Mavericks, Slicks?

  17. Dude where have you been, pics of that guys costume have been circulating the net for more than a year. It is a great costume, a bit too chunky monkeyish for my tastes though, and I agree that that Minmeis hot.
  18. I would love to see or have made a 1:48 VF-1D double strike. I discussed this with a few guys before, a true strike valkyrie, loaded down with dual strike cannons, dual gunpods, maybe additional pods on the wings or just missile packs. Plus it would have to be a 1D. Any takers to make it, I will sacrifice one of my 1:48s for the cause plus pay for the parts. Color scheme would be a hard one to call though. Part of me screams midnight blue with silver white trim, like my characters fighters or a Su-35 style scheme, hmm, not sure. Oh well, I guess it's just a dream for now.
  19. COngrats Wes I rememeber when I got my liscence, now once I free up some funds I can start flying again and get my Instrument Ticket.
  20. Nice to have you back Egan, now go get some sleep man, take care of yourself. As for this neat little bit of information, come on man, give us a little hint, jk LOL
  21. Man I missed this thread entriely when it came out, and now the link is dead. Was it a translation of the MAT book? Even if it isn't completely accurate I would have loved to have checked that out, especially if it had the illustrations as well. Hey Nanshi, do you have it in PDF format? Welcome back Egan, the walking Macross database has returned.
  22. Egan you're back, we al thought you dropped off the planet.
  23. I think it's in either Perfect Memory, the GOld Book, or Design Works (sure its this one) has a diagram showing that the head laser drops briefly during landing gear cycling. Also all the line art confirms a longer head laser then is shown on the Toynami's/Bandais's etc... So far Yamato is the only one to get that right.
  24. I want them all *evil cackle*
  25. Nifty Idea, but I think doing it yourself or having someone recast the otherwise unatainable pieces is the only way it will happen.
