Ok, finally saw the movie last night with my wife and the best I can say about it is thank god we got in with a coupon on half off night at the theatre. I'm sorry I'm not a Transfan but that movie blew chunks. The only, and I do mean only, good part was when the A-10s came in and tore Scorponok a new one. I could do a scene by scene break down of why it was so bad but let me just do the short version. Bad dialogue, seriously they could have made the movie somewhat serious but instead hampered the whole thing with cheesy dialogue, puns and gags. Unneccessary characters: The hacker chick and her buddy could have been cut and all her "revelations" revealed by an unnamed character or the head sector 7 guy. Sector 7: Don't even get me started, but let me at least say this, horrible casting on the lead field agent, that character was a complete joke. Freezing mechs: Ok, here I am a giant alien robot that has somehow traversed the vast reaches of space without a space ship to reach earth, and I'm shut down by freaking arctic ice. Damn I guess someone turned up the thermostat in space. Product placement: Hey who wants a chevy, a mountain dew, a Nokia, Burger King, eBay, etc... ad nasuem Reciprocating Saws strong then bullets: Hmm, here I am a 4' tall robot that shurgs off bullets but I can't stand up to a battery powered reciprocating saw or flying cerated CDs. Stupid Humans: How does no one notice a freaking 4' tall shiny metal robot running around a freaking airplane, or a radio that grows eyes that look at you, WTF? Slow transformation: I'm a 40'+ tall battle robot that takes 5 minutes to transform, hope my enemy doesn't catch me mid change and kill me. Where were the other two autobots when Prime and Megs were fighting, heck at least 1 decepticon tried to help out megs. Since when are Predators jet powered? Since when does Air Force 1 transform from a 747 into a KC-135 Speckled Trout? Why is Optimus Prime Suicidal, why didn't any of other autobots step up and say, no let me sacrifice myself instead of you our most powerful leader and warrior? What parent is that cool about having a girl your room after curfew? What teacher would give a flying butt nuget about whether or not a kid got his first car? Seriously it was a terrible movie, the only good points were the kid who played Sam, who while a complete and utter dork played the part well and made trannies all over wish they could be him. The action sequences were also pretty cool, but really couldn't save the movie IMHO. The movie could have been executed much better without so much cheese, heck throw in some 80s hair band music and it would have been right at home with the '87 animated movie. Edit: Forgot a couple: Dumping the mechs: BULL$H!T that would never happen. Those things would have been torn apart, disected, and every single little thing about them analyzed six ways to sunday to find out how to build our own. More stupid humans: All human tech is derived from Megatron huh, even cars and airplanes, yet they said that they didn't start to analyze him until the mid 30s. Didn't cars and airplanes come before then? Also if he has been so analyzed all these years why is he not partially dissassembled? All Spark Radiation: How can it be channeled through multiple device into its little chamber and not effect any of those devices? Also what happened to the mechs that were accidentally made in the fight and why were they automatically evil? City escape: Hmm, we have a device that all the bad guys want so lets take it to a heavily populated city to evac it instead of, oh I don't know making a rendezvous in the desert away from innocent civilians. Or if you go to the city, why not go straight o the freaking airport and commendeer a freaking airplane? Peeing dogs and robots: 'nuff said. Mass shifting: I thought there wasn't suppossed to be any mass shifting in this movie, hmm, alspark goes from something the volume of a super tanker down to something the size of a cubed soccerball, nope, no mass shifting there. Optimus is shown behind a freaking peterbuilt dump truck and is much more massive then it. Scorponok changes size at freaking will. Rant complete for now

I slammed this out real quick at work. Very close, very nice, only minor proportion changes taht I can see so far.

Suprised no one has done a line art comparison yet

If we want to be realisitic then the most likely candidate for the fuel source contained in the FAST Packs would probably be some form of liquid hydrogen. This would allow for some very nice reaction mass and if the FAST pack, or any fuel tank, was breached by a sufficiently energetic weapon then it would probably undergo an immediate state change. Going from a cryogenic liquid to a vapor gas in an instant would be quite the violent reaction and would mimic an explosion, if not cause one in the presence of enough oxygen. In terms of what we see on screen in SDF, DYRL, Plus, and 7 this makes sense. The explosions we typically see in space occur as short lived spheres of light, basically the reactor goes critical due to a hit and violently burns off the last of hydrogen, in essence forming a miniature short lived star, a tiny supernova baby. In plus when we see fast packs get hit and ejected there is an immediate explosion that follows. This also corelates nicely. The fuel tank ruptures and starts to vent violently, the breach is then sufficiently hot enough and the pressure difference high enough to force a violent state change in the liquid H2 that results in an explosion in the oxygenated environment. As for how the thermonuclear engines operate i think that has already been touched on sufficiently. BUt basically you have a fusion reaction burning in each one, which requires some fuel, in this case probably H2, convinient eh? In atmo the compressors and turbines work just like a jet engine, drawing in outside air, compressing it and then funneling it into the combustion chamber, but instead of jet fuel being added the compressed air passed over the reaction furnace. This superheats the air resulting in a state change that ignites the oxygen and hydrogen before forcing it out the back for thrust. In space with the absence of air the same fuel that fires the reaction furnace is directly piped into the combustion chamber and flash ignited, this also has the added benefit of still turning the turbines to produce power, in case the reaction furnace doesn't produce enough already. This does however result in the fuel being much more rapidly consumed and mandates the use of external fuel tanks, or FAST packs for extended operations. Afterburner would still act in much the same way as a conventional jet engine by simply forcing the liquid H2 fuel into the afterburner can where it would be flash ignited by the already superheated gasses.

I checked it is a planned capability but not yet implimented to my knowledge, will have to look more, could have been a proof of concept test flight.

Looks better then a superposable, but I think Revoltech should have done the destroids and enemy mecha instead, in 1:60 scale. Would have been a better use of the joint tech IMHO.

Notice the length of the nose and the seem lines, me thinks they will be using the same, or similar, transformation method as the old WF exclusive, maybe they are basing the sculpt off it, sweet.

Let me look into it, but are you sure he didn't see a V-22 and a helo getting refueled off of a KC-130?

Most likely the valkyrie's engines act like plasma engines in space, check the atomic rocket site and look up torch ships.

Well if you read the linked thread there really is nothing he can do about it, and he really doesn't want any money at this point, just some recognition for his work, a line in the credits would be enough.

Adding some fuel to the fire, looks like lucasarts used this sci-fi meshes member's ISD Model for the ISD in the cutscene.

It was good for the most part, but had its bad moments, most of them forced by Hasbro, especially towards the end. Ex: Serpentor (though it was handled better then the toon), star brigade, ninja force, eco force, et al... Some of the best stuff is in the early run, and while Serpentor was a bad move forced by the toy company his intro and surrounding battle was awesome. Pick it up if you can it is worth the read, though it meanders a little bit for the first ten or so issues then really hits is stride and gets better.

Dang it show us the nose fold joint, i want to see how that thing folds back on here and doesn't require removing the nose gear.

That is one really slow loading website

Anybody know of a good JSF flight simulator, I ask because I need to get to know the aircraft better since I may apply to be an FTE on it.

Question about the macross universe
Knight26 replied to Max is a Genius's topic in Movies and TV Series
I read somewhere, probably not official, that the cloning process was a variant of that used by the Zents/Melts, and that it did not produce true clones because it would introduce variations into the gene sequences, and prevent the creation of hundreds of identical individuals. It was these variations that eventually led to the problems that shut down the program. -

In regards to the use of Spiritia in MZ: It is established that the Mayan Islander's were direct protoculture dependents, with regular human blood mixed in there. The priestess' like Sarah and Mao were more then likely those of purer blood line. Combine this with their clos proximity to several protoculture artifacts (i.e. the bird human, the temple in the rocks, etc...) and you have a focal point for spiritia energy. Now Sarah and Mao do not know the details of the real protoculture or of their lineage but have some latent telekinetic powers still in place, they are just not likely to be able to concsiously focus them. The singing by Sarah is obviously the only way she knows to be able to focus and exercise her telekinetic abilities, possibly making the song she sings some old protoculture training technique for focusing the mind. The intent of the song is of course lost over the eons but the song itself remains and is known by the priestess' as a way to focus their own latent energies. Mao on the other hand gets a major kick start to her abilities when she is given the blood transfusion from the bird human allowing her to actively use her abilities in the same way Sarah does once she interfaces with the bird human. Fast forward to M7: Here comes Basara, he is most likely a descendent of the Mayan, maybe Mao's son, or as I have theorized before Sarah and Shin's son. He does not know the spiritia focusing song for some reason, mommy never taught it to him, didn't know it (in the case of Mao or another islander) but learns that his own songs have an unusual effect on people. He is brought up hearing all about Minmay and how her song won the war, or hears about it after coming back into contact with human colonists, and thinks that her song had a more profound effect then it really did (culture shock). He then begins to experiment with various methods to focus the song energy of his ancestors, which is really more a form of mental telepathy that is better focused when one is singing. Basara is found and scientists who knew about the Mayan and Mao and Sarah realize the potential he has to start on building his special VF-19 with hardware designed to artificially focus and enhance his abilities. Then the spiritia obsessed doc comes along (sorry forgot his name) and comes up with the sound boosters, which once again are really more telepathic boosters that draw and focus the spiritia energies even more so. Certain peoples are also shown to have latent spiritia abilities, possibly due to exposure to various radiations emitted by protoculture artifacts, the interbreeding between humans and zents/melts, the cloning of humans, etc... and these people are also given craft that focus their energies. I think if M7 was made now and was made the much more gothic horror it should have been that explination would work even better. Heck were a whole relaunch and redo of the whole series' to be undertaken I would have started Basara out in a heavily restored and patched up, and underpowered, custom VF-0A that he inherited from daddy, then have him upgrade to the VF-19 after it gets pummeled. But then that is just me. -
arrgh, can't see the pictures dang it

Yes, yes we need the semi-nude valk girl... -
Wait they are finally going to make a big screen Cthulhu movie, and it will be Blair Witch style, give me an F'n break, Blair Witch was the biggest steaming pile I ever saw, and the Great Dread Cthulhu deserves much better.

Looks like we were both wrong, it was in 2005 that the poster appeared: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...3&hl=poster I mean its the same freaking poster, pretty much. And except for the text I prefer the original.

This one seems relevant under the circumstances:

Didn't you or someone else basically do the exact same poster last year?
