  1. I don't know if this is going go to be a widespread problem or if it's just with mine. The point where the black part of the upper arms connects to the red part of the shoulder is only held in place by two extreeeemely tiny prongs. Mine came mis-shapen. The arm would not attach at all in battroid. I was going to return it but I deformed the pegs with a pair of plyers. It now holds on but i'm worried that the pegs will eventually snap in the future. Hopefully this is just the case with my Fire valk, but take care and keep those receipts handy. (pics coming in a moment)
  2. Despite the need for stands to support the arms, the Mac Quarter Flounder is looking better each time I see it. Yamada denki in Ikebukuro has one on display and it looks massive in person. Probably be gettin g one of these just after Xmas.
  3. Wow. The hands on this ARE kinda puny. Look like the regular sized RT valks hands.
  4. Yep. I broke the wing off of my Michel 1/60. Broke off right at the hinge. Also, broke the "BP8" on one of my Roy 1/60s. Seriously!!!!!!!! I'm like the Death of Valks. I must exude some corrosive substance from my finger tips.
  5. Yep. My self and Renato both agree that this is the best series to show non-anime fans who expect Macross Front-and-Rear levels of fan service from typical anime. Didn't know that the guide compiled a list of the homages. Gotta get to Mandarake after work and see if I can get that puppy.
  6. "My Funny Valentine" supposedly had a George Cloone looky-likey in WhitmeJy Hagas Matsumoto. Watanabe always went on about how they could have the biggest name stars for no money. Even the jabbar look-alike looked only vaaaaguely like Jabbar.
  7. I think that's probably true. The second hand shop down the road from me has about 50 used Beta tapes.
  8. I'm still um-ing and ah-ing over doing that myself. My VHS have served me well, but the thought of Cowbop in glorious surround sound with crisp picture.........but it's like 26,000 everytime I see the collection I want. Speaking of cassettes......havn't seen the episode in a while, but why the hell did Faye record herself on BETA?!
  9. On the subjext of in-show references , in episode 3, Spike walks past an old Chanbara film being projected on a massive screen. The subtitle he pauses in front of says "Only a true Samurai can kill him". I really don't think that THAT was a coincidence.
  10. That's also one of my favourite scenes. An in-show reference I noticed was the frog on the stairway in "Mushroom Samba". Is that the same voice actor as Viscious doing his Viscious voice?
  11. You owe it to yourself to do so It's one of the richest animes out there with a sound track that just blows any other away. The music is by Yoko Kanno by the way.
  12. Pierrot la Fou is definitely one of my favourites. The Pink Floyd cover IS pretty awesome. As for Spike, his name is also a reference to Spike Jonze (Being John Malkovich) whose birth name was Adam Spiegel . The "horror" episode "Toys in the Attic" is a great one for Sci-Fi buffs. This episode references at least a dozen Sci-Fi movies and a few horror flicks. It even goes out on a pretty overt reference to 2001.
  13. For those who know this excellent anime series, Cowboy Bebop manages to squeese in a huge number of subtle and overt references to Western pop culture in every episode. I was watching the episode "Jupiter Jazz" today and the Ed Wood reference in that episode is pretty funny. And it's just one of a dozen such references in every episode. It's things like this that make this such an awesome show. It can be enjoyed on a hell of a lot more levels than some other shows (and not just other anime) If you've noticed a reference which amused you, post it here.
  14. I'd have preferred a small arm to hold the figure for standing poses. The weighted legs will probably wear the joints on the hips over time.
  15. How much die-cast is in this guy? So far, i've noticed that the shins are die-cast (yeah, once again weighing down those legs Bandai. Why?). The over shoulder/under arm straps are also die-cast. Someone mentioned that the joints on the fig are also die-cast internally.
  16. Nipped out this morning and grabbed one of these. I was trying so hard to to buy this transvestite of a doll but failed completely. This totally trumps the 1/60 25. This toy succeeds far better than the deplorable effort that was the 1/60. Pity that they didn't pull a CMs with the helmet. Always creepy seeing Alto hold someone's decapitated head.
  17. This isn't actually a low-viz tho. It represents the 1S in DYRL which was randomly painted gray in one frame or so.
  18. Um....how do you know that for a fact? I've read more than a few news reports of ex military men going ape-S$$t and gunning down innocent people.
  19. He's a survivor of a Vietnamese POW camp. I think he has every right to be a little upset. First Blood always stands out for me. It's quite a powerful look at what that can do to a man. The sudden change to the big pecs, blowey-uppy action of the subsequent sequels was really random.
  20. I'm pretty sure that it's also in the original version somewhere.
  21. It's not really that silly. Just a little over-the-top.
  22. It's surprising how often you do hear it. I've heard it in numerous Japanese productions including a few anime. I'm pretty sure that it's a Zentraedi soldier who screams it. This is gonna bug me for ages
  23. This is a very random question. I swear that I heard a Wilhelm Scream in one episode of SDF Macross. If you don't know what that is, a quick Wikipedia search is all you need. Anyone know which episode it may have featured in? Cheers.
  24. Haven't seen one single Aoshima Tread on the shelves over here. I guess I should have ordered one. Seems all the things I wnat are sold out in minutes (EZ Collection Devbs etc).
  25. I don't think that it has been pushed back. That's the regular release schedule.
