  1. So... as some of you may recall, I told myself I would try cutting back on my Macross toy collecting. I tried to resist, I really did try. But with homework, 2 term papers, midterms coming up, and dissertation research, well..... some people stress eat, I stress shop. *SIGH* So, my acquisitions over the past month (errr... maybe 6 weeks) have included: Hi-Metal R VT-1 SuperOstriches x2 DX Chogokin YF-19 x2 Yamato 1/60 VF-19F Yamato 1/60 VF-17D Yamato 1/60 Super Pack for VF-17 Yamato 1/60 VF-11B Yamato 1/60 VF-1A TV Kakizaki Yamato 1/60 VF-1A DYRL Kakizaki with Super + Strike Parts On the bright side, I think I have gotten almost every Arcadia+Yamato 1/60 VF-1 series toy that I want now. I have Roy and Hikaru's VF-1S, the VF-1J for Hikaru Max and Miria, VT-1, VF-1D, VE-1, Armored Parts, Max and Kakizaki's TV VF-1A and DYRL VF-1A with Super + Strike Parts, ... I do feel this part of my collection is mostly complete., except for the VF-1A DYRL Hikaru with Super + Strike Parts, and maybe the CFs. My Macross Plus line also feels relatively complete, with the YF-19 (Yamato, Arcadia, and DX Chogokin), YF-21, and VF-11B.. all with Fast Packs. Macross 7 is feeling close too, with the VF-19 Kai, S, and F, as well as the VF-17S, and VF-17D, plus the Fast Packs for them. I think I am just missing the VF-11C, VF-19P, and the Sound Booster. Geez, I started collecting back in March? See, this is what happens when I stress shop!
  2. Yes.... YES!.... YEEEESSSSS!!! VF-11, top and bottom mounting brackets, top and bottom-mounted boosters, a top-mounted AWACS dish, fast packs, and armored parts.... That would be perfect! Oh, season 3 of "Man in the High Castle" just premiered. YAY! I have midterm exams to study for. BOO!
  3. Given that Mandarake sold one for 35,000 yen... errr, I still feel like this is overpriced.
  4. Is it bad that I kind of want to take one of my valkyries over to the aero/astro department on campus and see how well the fighter mode performs in a wind tunnel? I am sure the toy would rip itself apart spectacularly... but it would be kind of interesting to see at what point wind sheer tears the wings off. (It is times like this where I wish I majored in aero/astro rather than math and computer science...)
  5. I am kind of in agreement as well. Love how the 31 looks in fighter mode. But gerwalk feels too long to me. I like that the VF-1 becomes more compact in its gerwalk modes, with its tail portion folding into a backpack. I also like the VF-11 in that its tail portion becomes an arm shield and its variable-swing wings are mounted near the center of the plane body, like the VF-1. But gerwalk mode for rear-mounted reverse-angle winged planes like the 31 (and the 19 to some extent) always looked awkward to me. I think maybe in part this is because I feel the wings look less sturdy as there are gaping cavities in the plane body between the wing mount points in gerwalk mode, cavities that could pose structural weakness from an aeronautical engineering perspective at times of heavy turbulence, G-forces, or wind sheer.
  6. CDJapan currently has a single DX YF-19 in stock for 25,000 yen (about $220 USD) before shipping.
  7. Really? I guess I have been lucky that none of my 13 Yamato and Arcadia 1/60 VF-1 toys have experienced that issue. The DX's tail fin just looked very flimsy in that video, I was honestly surprised they did not do a re-shoot of that portion.
  8. I am a bit discouraged when I see Bandai's own video showing the tail fin almost fall out when folding it onto the backpack.
  9. Mine did not pop off that quickly. In my case, it popped off when I was attaching the fast packs on.
  10. I had that same problem on mine... and on the same leg too.
  11. YF-21 parked next to Chaser 1, 2, and 3. Chaser 1 here is a YF-19 rather than a VF-11, since the original Chaser 1 was totalled when Isamu tried saving Guld in Macross Plus episode 1.
  12. I think I have 7.... Yamato YF-19, Arcadia YF-19, Bandai DX YF-19 x 2, Yamato VF-19 Kai, Yamato YF-19S, and Yamato YF-19F. And yet, I only have one YF-21. *sigh*
  13. I am surprised you don't have 3... one for each mode.
  14. Mandarake has the DX YF-19 for 35,000 yen, before shipping: https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/detailPage/item?itemCode=1096833204&ref=list NY has it listed for 31,600 yen, before shipping: https://www.nippon-yasan.com/figures/24885-macross-plus-dx-chogokin-yf-19-excalibur-full-set-pack.html I see a number of listings on eBay for instant purchase, starting around $330 with shipping included.
  15. Are the 2 white missiles positioned closest to the gun pod the internal leg missiles?
  16. My poll response: 2 YF-19 valkyries received, both antennas were good.
  17. My second YF-19 arrived Wednesday from CDJapan via EMS, 2 days after my first one arrived from AmiAmi via DHL. I opened the box, and am happy to report that the head laser arrived intact. YAY! Now I need to figure out what to do with this second valkyrie. I had originally ordered it as a sort of precaution, after having seen how people's VF-31A pre-orders from N-Y had gone so horribly wrong. I just wanted to make sure that I secured one, hence the 2 pre-orders I did for the YF-19.
  18. My YF-19 (from AmiAmi and delivered by DHL) arrived with its head laser intact. The left tail rudder did pop off on me while I was attaching the fast packs, but I was able to just push it back into position, and it will stay posed in whatever angle I place it at, so long as I do not pull on it. Mounting the gun pod to the arm cannon was a bit of a pain for me. The weight of the gun pod would sometimes overpower the hinge it is attached to, causing the gun pod to droop towards the ground, rather than staying flush with the bottom of the aircraft. So, overall, no major problems, just a couple of quirks that don't impact my displaying of the YF-19. I have a second one coming in from CDJapan via EMS. I am hoping that arrives safely. One thing I like about the Arcadia YF-19 over the DX is that I can stow 2 reaction warheads under a single Arcadia hard point, whereas for the DX a hard point is consumed by a single reaction warhead. Oh well, first-world problems I suppose.
  19. Congrats! Great choice
  20. Wasn't Isamu's YF-29 part of his Macross Frontier movie cameo?
  21. 33,000 yen? Jeesh, already getting marked up in price just days after release.
  22. Is it just me, or is it a real pain getting the gunpod to attach to the arm cannon in fighter mode? Took me many, many attempts to get it to affix, but finally managed to get it and put it on display.
