  1. Well, we're punting the pre-order stuff into a new thread. Maybe if we could also punt the countless pages of pictures into one of the picture threads, and the discussions and reviews to a specific thread for them, such as the "recent purchases" thread. Typically a new thread is started once a prototype is shown or an official announcement is made. Just seems for the DX releases they all ended up in one big thread, rather than spread out like other releases are.
  2. That unit is likely a prototype, and may be completely painted.
  3. Yup, still available for order. So if you can find a proxy that hasn't used up all their ordering addresses, you can get one that way.
  4. Not even confirmed they'll actually be producing them yet.
  5. I suspect it's due to the relatively poor sales of most of the Macross HMRs (the Nexx, most of the VF-1 variants, pretty much everything except the Regults, the SSP VF-1 packs, and the CF). Obviously Macross fans in general are much more hyped for the DX Vf-1 series, given how they all instantly sell out and not one yet has seen an aftermarket price as low as the MSRP. Since the DX line is doing so well, makes sense to push that for at long as it's hot.
  6. Got mine off evilbay (for a surprisingly decent price) and had to double-check that the box wasn't empty.
  7. Finally took mine out the other day, was really surprised how light the VF-11 is.
  8. Mine was covered in DHL's "repackaged" yellow tape. The VF-4 and box inside were completely fine though.
  9. Got my family tree display up. VF-0S, VF-1S, VF-4A, VF-11B VF-17S, YF-19, YF-21 VF-171EX, YF-25, VF-27γ YF-29, YF-30, VF-31A
  10. I'm good now, just wanted one or the other rather than the pair. It's actually a birthday gift for a friend, which is why it's still wrapped up.
  11. Oof, mine came though without any damage, but it's luck of the draw with cheap ferry shipping out of China. I'd definitely drill+pin that if you attempt to do a glue repair, unlikely just glue will hold.
  12. This just arrived, been looking for a while and one finally showed up for a (somewhat) reasonable price on YJA. Supposedly the interior trays have never been opened. Just don't ask me how bad the shipping cost was
  13. Just got charged by Amazon Japan, looks like they'll be shipping out soon.
  14. With the slow down in macross releases, I've taken to buying nicer instant noodle packets.
  15. The cycle of collecting: Get too many things to display Get more display space to display them Get more things so you can fill your display space Repeat 1-3 until out of space in house/condo/apartment Get new house/condo/apartment with more space GOTO 1
  16. I recall there also being supply issues that popped up at the start of COVID, and likely they're still there.
  17. They ship different things at different speeds. The Gurren Lagann definitely went out surface, but after they shipped mine I also got something else (a much smaller item) shipped air and it showed up in like a week or two.
  18. Yeah, mine shipped in late September, and showed up in December. It's slow-boat shipping.
  19. My day-job mostly consists of doing design work. Most of that design work isn't coming up with the initial CAD model, it's doing the tolerance analysis and putting together the drawing packets to actually produce something from the CAD models. I might spend a day modifying an existing assembly for a new project, and then 3x as much time making the drawing packet for the modified parts. If I were to copy an existing part, sure I can get the basic model into CAD, but I still have to do all the tolerance analysis and drawings regardless
  20. $130 VF-1 $13 of that is eBay fee ~$10 of that is shipping (or at least used to be shipping, based on ShowZStore Prices) How much do you think it costs to produce the injection molded runners? How much for the metal parts? How much for the assembly? The painting? The packaging/stickers? The QA? (Even these will have some minimal level of QA/parts rejection just due to things that can't be assembled) The manufacturer's profit margin, as it's unlikely they're using in-house manufacturing? I'd guess the per-item cost would be at least $40 to Valkyrie Factory, that's before accounting for the NRE (molds, generating CAD files/drawings). They're not 1:1 recasts of Yamato/Arcadia, at best they might use a few cast-off runners. They're a business at the end of the day, and as a KO factory they'll absolutely shut down if they're not making money rather than eat a loss in the name of customer service. If the profit per unit dips too far, of course they're going to delay release, or just outright cancel. They're in this for the money. Anyone who thinks their profit margin on these is more than 50% should do some research on what it costs to commission manufacturing/assembly runs.
