Bandai 1/60 DX VF-25 transformable toy thread
GGemini replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I remember that the VF-19k shown in the "Macross Fastest LiftOff!" Special had a very nice color and paint, non-traslucent plastic and it even looked bigger (probably 1/55 scale). I was disappointed when I got the actual toy. I hope the history doesn't repeat itself... Additional to the non-removable intake covers, add non-articulated hands and apparently no stand. -
Bandai 1/60 DX VF-25 transformable toy thread

I think it all went wrong when they chose the materials for the final product. Since apparently there's nothing much to do at this point in trying to correct this one, maybe they'll follow in Yamato's footsteps and make some adjustments for the remaining ones (VF-25S, VF-25G...) ... and then release the VF-25 v2 -
Additional information: The upcoming PSP 3000 (to be released in Oct) CAN'T be modded. And apparently the PSP's released lately include a different motherboard that also can't be modded.

Thanks! I guess we'll have several "unlockable" characters and VFs... the SV-51, VF-11 MAXL, GBP-1S are not even listed in the Official Site

I guess we'll know what's the official version of the head once Bandai releases the 1/100 BTW, I'll check today how the VF-4 looks like in the PS2 game... -

The SHE model had two different heads, why's that? all the battroid line-art I've seen has the one with the simple design. -

I hope that means we'll eventually get a DX VF-171 EX -

Bandai is promoting these as action figures: (from the Macross F Blog) トイ(コレクターズ)コーナーではVF-25のDX超合金や1/100スケールアクションフィギュア、そして旧作より「オリジン・オブ・バルキリー」シリーズを一挙展示しちゃいます! ... so I don't think they care too much of how many parts need to be swapped for transformation. -

According to the Official Blog, it appears that the DX will be on display (along with the 1/100 and the Origin of Valkyrie series) in this weekend's Chara Hobby (http://www.chara-hobby.com/) トイ(コレクターズ)コーナーではVF-25のDX超合金や1/100スケールアクションフィギュア、そして旧作より「オリジン・オブ・バルキリー」シリーズを一挙展示しちゃいます!

Correct. And the VF-X2 (and basically every PS game ported to the PSP) also has some limitations that are not so bad. The PSP has only 2 "shoulder" buttons, as compared to the PS (and PS2 and PS3) 4 shoulder buttons, so there are some functions missing. Good thing that in VF-X2 the speed and transformation options used by the shoulder buttons are cyclic, so it's just a bit complicated but still playable and enjoyable. Another plus: the small screen of the PSP makes the VF-X2 fighters look very nice hehehe

Not really. All UMDs (the discs used by the PSP) are region-free, so you can buy a PSP anywhere and play the game. But since you're already buying a PSP, there are many things you can do with a modded one. For example, I have VF-X2 on my PSP while I wait for Macross Ace Frontier

I did use a Pandora Battery. I had some options: go to the nearest electronics mall to have someone do it, or research the "how to" in the internet. But instead of trying to find which of the 1001 ways to create a Pandora Battery and "Magic Memory Stick" worked ( with the risk of spoiling more than 1 battery if I didn't do it correctly), I bought a set. Apparently there are some online retailers that sell the Battery + Stick. I found one, ordered it and in 2 weeks + 5 mins (2 week shipping time + 5 min actual installation time ) my PSP was modded. And best of all, I did it
