The article left me ambivalent. There's nothing wrong with the TOS technology if it's capabilities could be expanded. A large clunky hand phaser is fine if it can blast through 10m of unobtanium. A brick sized communicator is fine if it has a transmitter that can hop 1.21 Jigawatts of frequencies to a starship in a geosynch orbit. Definite groan about the politics that is apparently infused in the thought processes of these guys. This is an interesting article on a he says/he says about Shatner cameo: http://popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/2008/10/william-shatner.html

I think I'm going to get one. I was 50/50 yesterday, but I'm thinking this is great custom potential. Have any links to some good guides online for painting a realistic low viz scheme? Or anything you might recommend? I'm tossing the idea of getting out my dremel and trying to fab up a custom weapons bay and opening door... maybe i'll get 2 and completely dissect one...

Hell yeah. Not only much more powerful than the first time through, but generally more proficient. Certainly not having to figure out the various "mysteries" (like pulling up the floor panel, etc) while fending off enemies scaled to your current level, etc.

I checked out that F22 today. Looks pretty nice. Not sure I like the external wing pylons but I guess opening internal missile bays isn't practical on something at this price point....
-
Definitely. This thing is starting to look like a train wreck. Not only will it not draw an audience from teh general public groaning at Star Trek, but it will completely disrespect most of any remaining fan base. Great job!

That F-22 does look bad ass. I can well see that with an accurate low-viz paint scheme...

Easily solved with a customization. I first put some 500th Vader legs from the knee down on there (simple boil and pop). I'm thinking of using an extra "Darth Stalker (Secret Apprentice Sith Lord version), though, since the "wrappings" look the same.

Doing my 3rd go around. Mostly, I'm messing around with cheat codes and the different skins and what not. Secondly, I'm trying to find all the holocrons. Original pass through, I was getting about 1/2 or so. 2nd pass through (with the Sith ending), I am getting about 10-12 out of the 13-15 there are, so only leaving 2-3... but thinking might have to check a cheat guide or something since i thought I damned well scoured the level. Ah well, might keep working at it, but surprisingly more replay than I thought there would be. Half the fun is just playing in the Sith Stalker armor, which looks bad ass (one of my favorite recent Star Wars figures, too). Much better than the Sith Robes I had been using previously.

KOTOR is, in a way, getting TOO planned out. They should go back to the Great Hyperspace War era maybe...

I don't own ANY 1/6 aka 12" scale toys and I am very seriously considering the Mark 2 (Silver armor). Wish they could do a 1/18 25th anniversary GI Joe figure (swappable limbs, etc).

5400 rpm is the speed on all OEM PS3 drives. As I posted before, I have a 320GB I got from Frys for a hundred bucks. Also 5400rpm. Some people have put 7200rpm drives but there was no noticible performance increase, and possible risks of (heat). The PS3 does encryption on it's HDD so it's possible any speed increase is rendered moot by the encryption algorithm.

Best Buy had the best in-store price IIRC and it was $25. You can turn off the BD-Live internet connection stuff from the BD/DVD settings menu on the PS3. I only had to wait for about 2 minutes on iron man. Target had the special mask/case version and was 27.99 IIRC.

WTF? I bought mine in Nov 2006. And i've already upgraded the HDD twice (first 160 and now 320GB).

They need some space action. I want to fly around and blow up some TIE fighters and attack a Star Destroyer.
-
Interesting. I would almost guess a Mr Fantastic for the blue one. Have no clue on the red one....
-
I've seen 2x Rattler's at 2 different Targets. Trying to avoid buying vehicles since I have enough SW ones lingering around and don't really have anywhere to put them.... but like I said, the Conquest was pretty appealing.

Right. The PS3 is going to be far faster, has far more storage space, and is the most common denominator for studios to test against for at least the next year. That will translate to less glitches, etc. I would rather go another year and stay on normal DVD and save up another two hundred bucks than get that Insignia. I just don't believe Blu-ray is in the position for the penny pincher, especially at this stage of the adoption game. YMMV, obviously. You don't need to play games and can easily ignore that aspect of the PS3, if you want. I doubt you'll see $100 this year (even on BF), though maybe for Black Friday 2009 for something like the Insignia or Funai, etc.

Passed on the Conquest a couple times, but most likely going to get it if it's still there in the next couple days. Do any of the other toy and/or model scale weapons fit on these pylons with minimal modification? Those yellow missiles (and thruster nozzles) are buggin and I know I'll be customizing later on if/when I get it...
-
The only reason not to get the PS3 as your blu-ray player is: not enough money. and I'd argue one should stay away from Blu-ray, if that's the excuse cause the PS3 just isn't that expensive anymore. everything else, there are multiple good solutions for (from IR/bluetooth on).

Great movie, great PQ, and great AQ. Haven't bothered with any of the extras yet. Maybe this weekend.

More of a lavender definitely.
