Most Ridiculous Amount Of Money You Have Spent
Uxi replied to ComicKaze's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Probably any of Yamato 1/48. Most I've went was $130, though (2 Low-viz and a Hikaru 1S is all so far). I really like the looks of the VF-0S but $160 is kinda steep. I'm hoping I'll see these for $130-140 at Frank & Sons. -
I grant all movies some liberty. Otherwise I'd be running around bitching about how everything flickers at 24Hz. 398467 You need a better TV that uses reverse 3:2 pulldown to eliminate "judder"

I guess its an age thing. Those of us who saw them in the theaters, who grew up knowing them one way, want to be able to see them that way again. For us, the SE films detract from the experience, not add to it. 398027 I DID see them on the theaters in the original run. At least TESB and RotJ and I think I might have been taking as a toddler to the first one, but that's just speculation. I remember standing in line with my dad and had to take two complete circuits around the theater for RotJ.

I mixed about the Stealth. Some angles I really like... others I wish they would have just done another Low-Viz as a limited 1J. I second the motion to use another squadron than Skull Squadron if they're going to do stuff that's not actually on screen.

VF-0S looks awesome on the USS Flagg. Now I gotta get raped trying to get the Flagg.
-
Just read the review. Good one. I disagree about the nosecone and flaps, though. These were a problem with the initial VF-1 releases, but were corrected once the nose-cone got the "notches" (and I never had a problem with the flaps falling off.. if anything, I want proper aleirons, flaps, and a rudder. :ph3ar:

Someone needs to politely tell Kawamorisan to keep the toy designers in mind when he does his designs... particularly on variations.

I saw the VF-0S at Frank & Sons today. Pretty sharp! The pilot doesn't look THAT tiny, either. I really wish Yamato would revisit the VF-1 with some modern technology... but it might be too soon for that, I suppose. I mean practically every element of the 1/48 design and add-ons should be possible for 1/60 scale. Make that damned BP8 part metal (if not one solid "loop"), though

I kinda think Nintendo is taking a big risk with completely marginializing themselves (especially if they focus exclusively on the 'Wii-mote'), though alleviate it simply by offering the 'classic' controller as well as the backward compatibility for the generation that grew up on the NES and is now starting to move into the Boku Bucks category. I'm not too keen on the Apple-aesthetic that Nintendo seems to have adopted, though. I myself doubt I'll get the Wii (still a stupid name), just like I didn't get the Game Cube or N64.

The more I think about it, the better a move the gimped version of the PS3 could be... only if they would make it CHEAPER, though. $399 would be perfect for the cheaper PS3. The high end model at $599 is not enough that I'm not going to be buying it (after all, I have a $4000 HDTV and didn't even blink at buying the 360 premium... once I saw it at retail in a store) and I think most of the hardcore types are going to get it come hell or high water. The videophiles alone (excepting the most partisan HD-DVD Nazi's) are especially eager to finally have a 1080p media that's not coming from a computer. AVSForums was abuzz that MS supposedly posted the price of their HD-DVD add-on on their own site as $199 (before it was yanked, presumably after Sony's E3 announcement). I think a pricing drop on the 360 is inevitable if they're to have any hope in taking the console lead (at least in North America and maybe Europe - I don't think they have a prayer in Japan/Asia either way). One thing I will say for the pricing of the lower end PS3 is that it does match the price of Toshiba's HD-A1 (the cheapest HD-DVD player), as well as the price of the Xbox 360 Core with an HD-DVD add-on at $199. And while the cheaper PS3 doesn't have HDMI, component can output 1080i for the short term and possibly indefinitely if ICT is never enforced), which is all HD-DVD is currently slated to do, for at least the short term.

What should you be spending that money at 30? Hell, by 30, you should be able to afford that without parents is the logic I use.
-
I think I agree with you. I just love the 360's wireless controllers and the trigger design is much easier to use than the Dual Shocks... I really like the way the "bumpers" above the triggers click, too.
-
You're probably right it being related to the lawsuit. I think it was more due to any royalties and further losses they would take over each PS3 sold with those controllers. I just don't think Sony gives a lick about Microsoft. Sony's real enemy in the PS3 endeavor is Toshiba...

They just need to make Megatron an artillery piece (like a primitive galvatron) or something and concentrate on his robot form. Transforming into the shrinking (man-sized) gun was even more ridiculous than shrinking into the Transformer-sized gun... That Starscream looks VERY cool. Does it have removable/switchable faces or something? Or does the wry grin face slip on Zartan-style over the 'regular' face? That crown is a must, though.

I've pretty much decided against getting this set. The SE are far superior to the THX versions in SFX. If and when they have this exact set (if not a 6-pack Diamond Encrusted "Force" sexology) in 1080p on Blu-Ray, I'll probably get it then... When did this rule against animated avatars come out anyway? After the last board crash?
-
No, not kidding. The BD drive justifies any increase over the 360. HDMI, bluetooth, etc are just icing on the cake. 60GB is also far superior to the drive my X360 premium came with. Only the best for my 60" SXRD. But seriously, though, I think MS should leave the 360 core right where it is, but the Premium SHOULD have an HD-DVD drive built in (not add-on) and a bigger hard drive. HDMI would be nice, too.

I think I like the boomerang version better... I'd much prefer the vibration rather than the motion sensitive business... $600? Not TOO bad. Hopefully this means there will be greater supply available.
-
I enjoy my Alphas. I wouldn't mind a Beta. $200? Who do these guys think they are? Yamato?
-
W3rd. On both accounts. I bought a DVD-9 copy of the Chinese laser discs sometime back. Even has Dolby Digital. I wouldn't dream of watching anything other my special editions. While I wouldn't mind seeing Han shoot first, I don't think I could stomach seeing the strings on the TIE fighters again. I'm glad for the grognards like Hurin, though, so they can hopefully enjoy it without acrimony. Enjoy Hurin. Just don't hold your breath on the high def version.

Wii is a retarded name... I wish MS would have decided to prop up Sega or something. I always liked Sega's consoles better than their Nintendo equivalents... and Sega would have a clue about the Japanese market, which MS can't find. I still like my 360 and await the better games to join Blazin Angels and Oblivion and GRAW amongst the rest, but I am still awaiting PS3 and Blu-Ray the most.

I'm thinking the redhead from Guy. Ishtar from M2 would be a good runner up. I would enjoy keeping Minmei shackled up as a love slave, though.
-
I wish there was someone doing recasting for the 1S head that would make the mold front/back rather than side to side. I hate hate HATE the seam going down the middle... But yeah, the holographic and hollow lasers sound really cool. The LED I'm so-so on. I certainly would rather have it and not want it than want it and not have it...
-
With OEM toys, they don't look very good IMO. I'm using my set on my Hikaru VF-1S. The TV version might look a bit better. That custom r0x0rs your s0x0rs.

That scheme is kinda gross.
