    1/55's revisited

Ive seen one on Ebay as well went for a high price it was on eBay Uk though and Macross prices over here can get a little inflated.
  2. Added myself though it shows me living about half a mile from where I actually do. This uses the same maps as Google earth shame you cant put in co ordinates from that. You can see my house and my works van parked on the driveway.

Wow I didnt think there were that many. Well at this mo I have at least one of all the Jetfires and the Galaxy Command one ( no boxes ) so it safe to say I have a few to get.
  4. Awesome work guys. I wish I had the skills to help you but my 3d Max and Milkshape skills are lacking compared to what Ive seen here. I do though have the Showji Kawamori art books an I have another winging its way to me from Japan ( I forget its name but its more of the same) so If you need hires scans etc just pm me and I will see you right.
  5. Yeah A few years ago I would have disagreed with you but Bandai have really stepped up a gear, some of the old 1/100 scale stuff was awful. May be Hasegawa are in league with the Filler and Primer manufacturers all those little bit that need finishing all that filler used, must earn them a few pennies.

    WOW!

The more modlers in our number the better I say. Brings new ideas and new competition. Welcome to our world.
  7. Great work Here is where I am at latitude 50.846 50° 50' longitude -0.782 0° 46' Hope thats right
  8. Yup the key is the moment your mind starts to wander or you get distracted or are tired then put away the glue and paint and save it for anotherday. Ultimately the longer you take the better the job. Hasegawa kits are one of the better kits and their transfers are to quaility. on a side note ( not wanting to steal your post ) does anyone use decal seal. I have had mixed results with it over the years and was wondering which brands if any are worth the bother.
  9. I also like most of the modelers here spread the work out over days, so acurate hours are hard to count but I usually have a good read of the instuctions and a really good look at the sprewed parts first looking for potential problems and miss cast parts etc. Basically take as long as you need, nobody will punish you for taking two weeks to paint the cockpit. If you are happy with the results then thats all that counts. If your one of the Hack and Slash brigade then about an hour to do the model and 2 hours to paint it and 20 mins to decal it provided by that point youve not go bored and started doing something new or completely hashed it. On the subject of Tamiya paint you could try adding a bit of Tamiya thinners to the tinlet as these paints sometimes thicken over time. Be sure you use Tamiyas thiners as others will do strange things to the paint, also use the right type. Im not trying to teach you to suck eggs, but these methods have worked for me. Cant help you with the air brush as mine is different to yours.
  10. Good job he dosnt want to dress as Minmay the zero G would play havoc with his dress. Seriously though the sooner NASA and ESA and all the other space agencys start to realise that ordiary people want to go into space the sooner the goverments will give them more funding. More funding will mean more discoveries and more money input from private companies, this in turn will push the space race forward again. Some of us will then get that dream before we die. At the present rate ( no disrespect meant to anyone who has lost their life ) we will still be just sending astronauts up in orbit to stay in the I.S. or float arround in the Shuttles. While the rest of us just look on and remember the old days when guys walked on the moon after going there in something with less complex electronics that a modern family car.

    My Chase max

So thats the Battroid mode whats it look like in Gerwalk mode I know that U.N Spacey had money problems but the budget cuts have gone to far now.
  12. Well my friend Steve lives in Tokyo and he went there two weeks ago. I wouldnt have thought it was open much before then as he practically lives on the Streets of Aki half the shop staff recognise him when they see him. Steve says "It`s F**king huge you need a road map to go round it." He also said that the prices were ok much the same as everywhere else in Aki.
  13. TRUE!! Go with what you know. After all would you buy a Bentley just coz it costs more than you`re V.W. It has four wheels and seats and can only legally go the speed limit so when you drag it down to the basics I.E transportation needs its the same.
  14. Well Thats another place to visit when I go there in April. Shame it wasnt there when I was there earlier this year, mind you my wallet was probably better for it.
  15. Well the Automotive stuff works really well on Vinyl kits and recently I have used it on a couple of Transformers l have been restoring. It also works well on 1/55`s. I think I will try it on one of my Hasegawa kits. Least that way if I mess it up I can still get replacements.
  16. Well Ive had the first series and pilot on DVD since before they finnished airing it in the U.K. I got the series in my local MVC (part of the Woolworths chain) apparently it wasnt available yet but they had one copy for some reason, I had to bag it. In the U.K its only been available on Sky and Cable Both of which I dont have. Most of the last series I unded up downloading via torrents. Does anyone know where a good place for the second series torrents, as it as far as I know has yet to be aired in the U.K. The Sky and Cable in this country can be so slow at airing stuff sometimes, they also have a habit of showing you some of a series and then cutting it. They did this with Sliders a few years ago and regularly miss episodes of the Simpsons. We are still seeing Simpsons from the early 90`s here
  17. I hope that this hasnt been asked before, if it has could someone point me in the right direction. In the old days I used to use a matt white as a primer for my kits, on the whole I had good results, but some times you end up killing the detail on the model before youve pput all the paint on it. As Im getting back into models again after a few years I want to do it right. I have spent the last few years doing real cars and R.C car lexan shells, totally different to models I have an automotive acrylic plastic primer which is silky smooth and great for doing 1/55s but i think its to much for 1/72 stuff. What do y`all suggest I use, please bear in mind I live in the U.K so mail order is probable as there arent many good modle shops near me and also I have converted to using acrylics as they are much better than enamels.
  18. As far as the color of the Valks is concerned. It does bare an uncammy resemblance to the Vf17`s in Macross D 7 in particular the Diamond squadron. I only say this as I have a Wave 1/72 kit of one of those waiting to be built. I may be wrong but looks like it could be an earlyier version of that squadron. Or it could be that the people painting the frames couldnt be bothered to do it properly one Friday afternoon. Well thats my pointless small curency anyhow.
  19. Well I have one reserved that the Captain has at the mo, But if he sells it before I get the funds together count me in.

    1/48 VF-1S

Well thats cool as mine is better than the forth but almost as straight as the second. When you see them all together like that it becomes very apparent. Thanks for taking the time to producce the pictures.
  21. Dont forget masking tape, you can use it for binding parts together while they dry if clothes pegs wont do. Also get you self a nice self healing cutting board from a stationary suppliers (when you can afford one), They can be expensive but will last years.

    1/48 VF-1S

Well mine turned up yesterday. Wow Im impressed I thought the 1/55`s were big. It`s my first 1/48 scale. I have given it a really good look over and there are a few parts where they could have cut it from the sprews better and the seam lines on the gun are bugging me, but any problems with Jolly Rodgers are not evedent on mine. The fast pack box had some minor damage to it dispite the sturdy packaging it was sent in, but not to worry as its packed in the cupboard now and the Vf`s on display. It dosent quite stand straight in Gerwalk mode, Ive not tried it in battroid mode as it wont fit on the display shelf as it will be too tall. I may well fix the gun and do a minor change to another seam line which is not right, but I think I will fit some water transfers to it rather than use Yamoto`s stickers. Over all though I think its ok. Im just glad that it got here in one peice.
  23. Sorry to all of you who came here looking for a Gundam Mech. I as I said deliberatly keep away from Gundam and other Mecha stuff just because if I didnt my house would be over run with cool little robot models. I do confess to owning 2 Gundam DVD`s so it will only be a matter of time till Gundam gets its own display shelf.
