  1. Oh man, I love those colors. I especially like how the red pops in contrast to the blue. Fingers crossed that the production pieces are the same.

Yeah, definitely will be articulated. S.H.Figuarts are for their articulated figures. Description from the tamashii site "A new standard in action figures representing the state of the art of Bandai's design technology. Designed to perfectly mimic the range of motion of the human body, the series name is a contraction of the concepts of "Simple Style" and "Heroic Action." Standing roughly 14cm tall, the highly posable SHFiguarts figures are designed to feel like little treasures." Super sold for me. I hope this opens the possibility of them producing other S.H.Figuarts macross figures.
  3. I have several of them (although not any of the iron man figures) and love every one. I have not regretted any of the purchases or the money I spent on them. They come with a good assortment of accessories, great articulation, they include a stand to help get the most out of the articulation, durable (haven't had anything, including the accessories, break on mine), hold their poses well (haven't had any issues with loose joints or degradation of joint friction over time), and have very clean paint applications. I would highly recommend them. Those iron man figures look like they have some fabulous paint work.

I would think that it would indicate that the line is doing well. Otherwise, why make the investment to expand it into other anime. Whatever the case, as long as they keep making HMR Macross products, I'm all for it.
  5. That's my thoughts exactly. I've got so many holes to fill as well as other things that I collect that re-issues work great for me. I'm also all for a 'slow and steady' pace as well, the key word being steady. Certainly a better model than Yamato's.
  6. A little Future is great for fixing loose joints. Depending on where you are it may have different names. I'm in the western US and it is Pledge with Future. A drop on each side of the joint, let it fully dry, and no more loose joints. Sometimes multiple applications are required depending on the size and how loose the joint is. My SV-51 was probably about the worst offender for loose joints. While most of them took application after application (especially the neck) I eventually got it to where they all hold their positions very well. The hook, being a small joint with a fairly tight fit, would probably only take one application.
  7. I'm rolling the dice and hoping for a re-issue of some kind. Going off of the top of my head, everything Macross related that Arcadia released this year was a re-issue. Other than the RA they haven't announced anything new for next year either. I'm guessing that they will be filling more release slots next year with re-issues and the RA will be the perfect excuse to re-issue a VF-0.
  8. Agreed. I'm mostly in the same boat. Pretty much all of my figures have either armor or loose enough clothing to hide the joints. The only ones I have that I think could benefit from it would be Ep IV Leia and I just got Rey. Both of those have visible knee joints (depending on how they are posed) that I would like to do away with.
  9. Do you happen to have any Phicen bodies? I really like the seamless appearance of them but am wary of the 'skin' tearing or breaking down over time, especially if they are in more extreme poses. I'd like to hear more first hand knowledge before investing in upgrading any of my figure bodies.
  10. Here's a link to a fairly inexpensive knock off of a Hot Toys body. True Hot Toys bodies can be pricey ($80 - $120). http://www.ebay.com/itm/161977455680?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT There are many different body styles besides this one. Doing a search for 'Hot Toys TTM' (for male) or 'Hot Toys TTF' (for female) will show you more of the range of body types that they have produced. Also armored figures (ex. Stormtroopers, Boba Fett, Phasma. etc...) will greatly increase the proportions of the figure in the area where the stand needs to go.
  11. Oooooo, very nice. I like the side to side expansion. I would be worried that it might pinch too much at the top (front to back) though with acrylic as it isn't very flexible (depending on the thickness). It might even break on some figures as the top may need to flex out further than any other point. You're more of the materials expert on that though so here's hopin'. But even if you couldn't get it to work with acrylic I would definitely get the black version you are showing. It could be pretty well hidden and be attached to your clear arm.
  12. Those could be a good compromise for mid-air poses. My only issue is that they aren't clear. My biggest want is to have the figures posed securely but have the stands be as hidden as possible. I'd be more than willing to give up mid-air poses to have a completely clear stand. Now if I could have both mid-air poses and a completely clear stand...
  13. Thinking about it a little more it might be better to make it more like a 'J' than a 'U' for the cradle. ___ / | cradle / | \_____./__O|
  14. That's the real trick isn't it? The sizes vary from front to back and side to side. Hot Toys/Sideshow currently accommodate it with a standard U shape from front to back but it expands side to side depending on how much it is inserted into the base. Most armored figures don't fit very well into the cradle and rely on the friction from the side to side expansion to hold them in place. I'm not the most imaginative when it comes to solutioning this type of thing but the shape that would probably have the most number of uses would be like below from the side... ___ \ / | \ cradle / | \_____./__O| The 'O' would be where you attach the stand. I have really wanted something that could fit under the arms that would allow the legs more freedom for better poses and even allow the figure to be in mid air but I'm pretty sure that the thickness of the acrylic wouldn't work for that.
  15. You sir are quite the enabler . If it wasn't for the fact that I only have moths in my wallet right now (this past month or so has been brutal with the number of expensive releases for what I collect) it would be in my cart. If I am lucky enough for it to still be available later this year it will be mine.
  16. Another Hot Toys collector . I'd be pretty ecstatic to get a yeti stand for these figures. A clear adjustable crotch stand would really make my day.

+2 the enemy mechs are the reason I got into this line. As much as I would like some new valks (especially a VF-2SS) I NEED a complete set of Zentradi mechs and destroids.
  18. Very nice. I have been admiring the Orguss from afar. Taking all of my willpower to not get the Hi-Spec.
  19. I still need far far too many at this point I'm afraid. Only getting back into this in the last year I had a lot of catching up to do. My initial goal was to get one of each model number (VF-0, VF-1, VF-4, etc...). Many dollars later I've completed that goal except for the VE-1, VT-1, and YF-21 (VF-22 is a good substitute... for now). Next is to get one of each model letter (A, C, D, etc...). All that being said, Max is my favorite pilot and blue is my favorite color so a Max VF-1J is a definite need. My ultimate want would be a VF-1D Virgin Road. Unfortunately, at Arcadia's rate of re-release and the current after market prices, I don't think I will ever be able to add this one to my collection.

I can appreciate that sentiment and that different people want different things. I'd probably get more of them if they cost half the price. But Figuarts ZERO's having almost the same price as S.H. Figuarts makes no sense to me. I'm also the type that likes to pose my figures as my mood suits me, and my mood changes often. I'm willing to sacrifice some (not a lot of) aesthetics to get a nicely articulated figure. I realize though that some people are more of a 'set it and forget it' type and want something that looks awesome and is ready to go right out of the box. As long as these companies keep making money so that they can make more of the products that I like I'm all for it. And she has an outfit that is great with conforming to those curves. But i can just hear my wife now, 'what's with the space elf?'

Sivil would be such a unique piece that I doubt that I could pass on her too. Would look pretty nice hovering next to my VF-19K.

    Macross figures

I much prefer articulated figures. As a matter of fact, other than some McFarlane football figures, I don't own any static figures. I could never understand spending so much money for a solid piece of plastic. All that being said, I now have Mirage on PO.
  23. I'm hoping that Arcadia decides to compete with Bandai and announces a re-issue of VF-1J Max and Milia in the next couple of months. I'll take a VF-1D if they would prefer to do that first .
  24. So my OCD won't allow me to apply any of the stickers. Drives me nuts seeing a sticker sheet with blanks spots. Does anyone have any recommendations for where I could get some decals for the skull squadron insignia that goes on the super/strike pack? Any way someone could do a scan of the sticker sheet and print it on a decal sheet?
