Yikes how hard are those Berserk Figuarts going to be to get? Seems most Figuarts forums I check out have lots of people getting hyped, these could be some hard to secure releases. They both look great, I'm glad I never bit on the Figma with the giant hard-plastic cloak.

Probably hard to get from Japanese sites, but like all the other releases, easy to get from a U.S. site. Just you have to pay the ease of preorder taxes

No ink for the printer (hasn't been for nearly a year now); and I went to Carlos' aztec templates on SSM (firs thign I thought of). But they are in all different resolutions (400 dpi, 300 dpi, etc), and they don't match up with one another let alone the ship. I was actually trying to get them all to fit on 4-5 sheets of decal paper (and nearly succeded), but when I realized they were badly mismatched and off, I gave up. :( .

Even worse: I couldn't find anyone who had the aztecs for the 1/1400 E-D that didn't go multiple times what I spent on the model.

Thanks anyway Thom, but if i can't get the stuff I need to build my projects without continually running into shortfalls or needing help (which is a pain for everyone!), then I need to accept the fact I'm done. That and my hands are acting up.... just sick of it.

Anyways, let me get off the boards now and let the real modelers (like you) post.

Don’t cut yourself short. Frustration and questioning your own abilities are a sure sign of being a “real modeler”. Sometimes you have to put things aside for a short time and compose yourself and often a solution will come. I know things for you are tough and may be getting tougher, but I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one that has confidence that you’re still able to turn out a great project here and there.

NICE PHOTOS!!! @electric indigo  I think I've just been spoiled with nice Japanese kits for too long.

I feel like a lot of people get that way nowadays. Some kits need a lot more work than others for sure, but I think the key is not to be afraid to try and put some effort and a bit of sweat and the reward is something to really be proud of.

    Hi

Here's my 1/144 "Eye-Zack" Reconnaissance-type MS. The aircraft is a support unit for the Titans' Test Team and is equipped with the sub-arms and a 120mm Zaku MG. The build is conversion of the HGUC Hi-Zak and the 80's Ewac Zak kit. I added ball joints in the head and torso, lenses in the various sensors and gun site and various other antenna and details. Painted with Mr.Color. Thanks for looking.

@wm cheng - I'll post a scale pic later on for you.

@pengbuzz - NICE find!  I've built that kit twice, and purchased the clear version TWICE. The first one I built as a kid in the late 80's. The 2nd I built in the early 00's and gave to a buddy of mine, (I don't know what he did with it), the first clear one went INTO A WALL in a rage of frustration about 10 years ago and shattered , the 2nd clear one waits for me in a dark closet with full aztec's (they GREY ones, NOT the Generations BLUE!) along with PE upgrades and lighting supplies. I don't feel like I'm there yet...LOOL! Someday maybe, however, I know I WILL sand off all the raised detail before I start this time around.  I've watched a LOT of YT videos of the build which kinda helps.  The only thing really holding me up is finding a 100% sure way of painting/scraping the windows for the light to come through, that's where the RAGE came from 10 years ago, by the time the primer and paint was thick enough to block the light form the outside, it was TOOOO thick to scrape off effectively.

I’ve never built that or any StarTrek kits, but was curious if on your previous attempt if you tried priming the inside as well as the outside?
I was just thinking on a clear kit masking where the light shines through on both sides, but going a bit heavy on the inside might make things easier on the outside.

I’ve never been a ship kit guy, but I do admire the work others put into it and love seeing those projects.

Action Comics #1 premiered on American newsstands on April 18, 1938 (cover dated June). The iconic cover marks the first appearance of Superman, created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Marks the beginning of the superhero genre. The event which began the Golden Age of Comic Books.

That cover always made him look like a super villain. The comic itself is pretty hilarious in the way he deals with bad guys that have no chance

You should see his version from the comic books of the the original 80s-90s run. The guy literally had half of Cobra that was disloyal to him(including his own son) buried under a mountain with a cache of rations with the orders to dig themselves out to prove they deserved to live. He had the rations poisoned before hand so anyone that did manage to escape would die anyway. That is if they weren't executed the second they reached the surface.

I sometimes forget about the death toll in the comics versus the cartoon

If this line will help expand the Valken/Leynos lineup, I will gladly support it.

That’s my big hope. I really love my assault suit Leynos kit, but it was a lot of work and is a bit clunky and I’d love a newer somewhat easier one that would have better articulation. Not only that , but some of the bad guys in those games looked great too and I’d really love kits of some of them

Man, Power DoLLs is a weird first release to launch a line with.

Not saying it's a bad design or anything, just that it lacks a bit of star power to really bring in attention.

I kinda thought it was an odd one as well. Plum seems to have mostly video game franchises, so they pretty much have a limited group to pick from as far as classic mecha video games and since they already did a couple kits from Power DoLLs, they probably didn’t have to do a new license.

previously they had mecha kits from the Assault Suit franchise, Cloud Breaker and Power DoLLs and maybe only space ships from a few classic shooters from what I remember, but who knows, maybe they’ll get some new licenses for this new line.

I’m always curious about a new line of mecha model kits and hopefully Plum has learned a few things from their older kit projects

There will still be seam lines, but it looks like the c clip joint connections allow for easier clean up and painting. There’s no hand options shown, but those may come up in an option pack since it has connections shown. They also negated the wiring on the lower legs for better movement, but it probably won’t be too difficult to modify it by drilling a few holes and adding your own. F24BDDA2-382B-4E1B-BD45-810D37E389EC.jpeg.15ba3859c07624c3dff59efabc83942e.jpeg691FC695-D522-425D-92DB-A5D8E5C743D9.jpeg.181bdf20ff3aacf39a5df0c2f086d1a1.jpegjust thought I’d add some pics of the old 1/35 kit for comparison. I do think the older one looks a bit better, but it’s definitely more work and has less range of movement.

I’m just really hoping this new line does well enough to get more Assault Suit Leynos kits. I wouldn’t mind an easier more poseable kit from that game

I know you're being facetious, but that's actually an important concept in Japanese sci-fi...

What made Robotech stand out among shows like Transformers, Robotix, M.A.S.K. etc. was a story element that American cartoons lacked: the ability to empathize with the antagonist, establishing the possibility of peaceful coexistence.  Once communication was achieved, mutual understanding led to a cease of hostilities.  We see this with the Gamilas in Yamato, with the Zentraedi in Macross, and with the Invid in Mospeada (and even intended for Southern Cross, where the Zor would've been revealed to be simply humans displaced in time).

I got really into anime because the stories weren’t just good against evil back in my younger days, but now I feel like It’s been so over done and the bad guys are always one simple conversation away from ending a war that shouldn’t have started and now I kinda just want to see bad guys being bad because they’re bad. I don’t need a background as to why they’re bad either, kinda a rough explanation as to what they’re after and maybe that’s all I need once in a while

  12. Those big thin decals can be tough. I have less trouble with them since I stopped using decal glue. Just water and a gloss surface. Then something like micro sol after the application and a bit of gloss over the top. I do have occasional rips and tears with those, but the water seems a bit more forgiving about wrinkled messes and repositioning.

Are there any decal sets that have that one on the tail that you could use. I think hobby search had quite a few in their aircraft or military section

If it keeps them wanting to produce more kits, then I’m all for it. I’d rather have all the options available rather than having to hunt down one that is short printed.
I’m just glad that they see a market in releasing the oddball items as well

I can see where they can be a menace to mechs as big as the Tread.  Those tentacles could do damage to the joints and actuators and or be used to hold alphas down if they can....not to mention capturing humans in ride armor. :o

They’re probably just wanting hugs. They’re just misunderstood

It is rustoleum universal bonding primer, I recently had a big mishap when it sprayed out like dust but I think I will be able to avoid that with the tips given to me by @arbit, @Bolt and @pengbuzz. But I also thought that people made a coat, waited for it to dry a bit, then made another coat. Is this what I should do? Or could I literally just do one coating session as you said, and move on to painting?

I sometimes am a bit lazy with primer and just do a quick dusting
