This is why anime is better.

There’s a few bad examples of recent animation from America, but I’d take Castlevania, Invincible, X Men 97 and even Vox Machina over any anime that’s come out in the last decade or so. Anime has really been in a bit of a rut lately. It’s been either really pretty, but cringy and dull or a bunch of Tron fanfiction, or just derpy humor that’s just not funny or forgettable remakes of older shows with bad cg

    Could they be on backwards?

No the smaller heels are to reflect more realistically how the feet would transform. They used a bit of old school anime magic to make the larger ones fold in, but the shape actually changes and these smaller ones actually would be how they’d look in real life

    Kids, wath out with drugs.

I watched that old witches ghost movie with my daughter when she was very young. I was actually surprised that that and the zombie island movie were pretty good. It’s too bad the lead singer of the Hex Girls started taking heroin and passed out in the sun for ten hours

I grew up on the animation, and yet my adult self prefers the 'real world' style.

I’ve seen enough of the real world style stuff that I’m glad that there’s finally a modern option for the anime style. I personally prefer it. Even with other brands like Gundam. They’ve put out real grade and mg ver.ka of the Sazabi and others that go way more overboard with details, but I prefer the hguc version of the Sazabi since it looks more like the anime.

there are times when i think a redesign is fine and Hasegawa did a pretty good job of redesign while still keeping the feel of the original. But I still like the max factory versions better and hope that hasegawa can update their designs a bit more for better action

This will likely make money... still won't save the MCU.

I was kinda thinking a bit about this and a part of me wants to think Disney would learn from this, but they’ve been given lesson after lesson and still mess things up badly. I think they’re too hard headed and stuck in their ways to be taught anything and the only successes they have are flukes with the like Guardians of the Galaxy or Spider-Man. Personally I liked the last Spidey film the first time I saw it, but after a second watch it’s definitely too gimicky. Hopefully Deadpool doesn’t end up feeling like it’s relying on a gimmick

My parents, both in their sixties, who are boring as hell and watch Price is Right, Andy Griffith, and Sons of Anarchy over and over binged the entire season and absolutely loved. Not only do they have no knowledge of the games, they have no gaming knowledge to speak of at all, they went in completely unaware of anything they were about to watch, and they both absolutely loved it and wanted more episodes when it ended.

It doesn't hurt that they love Walton Goggins, everybody does, but they loved everything about the show, all the characters, the world, the sound and aesthetic. This series is a total win for Amazon, fans of the games love it, and it's accessible enough for non-gamers, even boring old people, to get in to.

Definitely a great show, I’m a little surprised though about the level of brutality that your parents could handle. My mom absolutely will not watch anything with a lot of gore. Unfortunately my father passed away when I was much younger, but he was the one that took me to see Robocop in the theater back when I was only nine or ten. I don’t think he quite knew what we were getting into and I sure was in for a bit of a shocker since that was a game changer as far as acceptable violence in a non horror movie. I think he might’ve been ok with Fallout, but my mom would never give this show a try. She’s definitely more old fashioned and may get a kick out of the flashbacks, but that’s about it

After watching the first episode, I definitely feel like Fallout expects me to already be familiar with the setting from the games and I definitely feel like I'm missing some critical context and/or knowledge.

I wouldn’t worry about that at all. Pretty much everything gets some explanation with a few things that feel like they will be least for the next season.little things happen here and there and it’s like little revelations surrounded by extreme violence.

I’m a fan of cheap films like stuff from troma and for me it’s almost like a troma film without a budget. It has it absurdity and action and it has odd explanations for why things are messed up

I feel like the front of the lower legs is just a little too rounded for my liking.

The thing I like about the Hasegawa kit is that it's believable as a jet that can somehow origami itself into a humanoid shape to find giant aliens. You see a lot of the jet DNA in the battroid.

The Max Factory kit is fun and definitely brings back memories of watching the show, but it also feels like something designed to look like a cool robot, without needing to acknowledge realities of the other modes.

But I'm not kidding anyone, I will be getting a copy, along with any other variants in the pipeline.

I do wonder if these will include a decent amount of decal warning stencils and such. The demo in the photos doesn't even include the U.N. Spacy text from the gunpod and the side of the legs. Or the ID number on the lower stabilizers.

Most of the pictures have a definite curve that is easier to see in the lines in the upper part of the lower legIMG_2599.jpeg.0c4238137e52ee004c817348a60d2ecc.jpegIMG_2600.jpeg.2820ee4667a5f86875909ae72c197406.jpegIMG_2601.gif.f02f9aec17321e89c6de7bf28ebfb0e4.gifmost toys and kits usually have it very flat though.IMG_2602.jpeg.03dfcd61857d9b3fca15b4f370fad750.jpegIMG_2603.jpeg.b1f2890fc84e82c6b30f4bb848549f6f.jpega couple poses that I liked that weren’t on the previous page. Not sure what the decal sheet will look like and I’d imagine we’ll get a pretty good idea when the VF-1J battroid kit comes out , but this is definitely very anime compared to the hasegawa realistic style. The leg on this can clear the wings as shown when posing the legs forward, which is great to see.

Watched Rebel Moon Part 2 as well.

Whereas the Part 1 was almost in the realm of 'so bad its good', this one is just a snooze because everything is just predictable. Kinda thought there's less use of non-sensical slow motion though, but man the scenes that's supposed to evoke emotions are really cringey. I haven't this much urge to look away at some of them since seeing Anakin & Padme rolling on the grass.

It's mind boggling how they can even announce that it's gonna be a total 6-parter flick.

6 parts……I had a tough time in the first part as well. The second one really did a number on me. It took three attempts to finish it off. It did feel like less slomo, but I think that’s because there was less action going on. It’s mostly farming. They knew the enemy was coming in like 5 days and spent most of it farming and the last two days on preparing farmers for battle. I don’t know how these idiots lost and how they dug those tunnels in a couple days and still had time for hair cuts. I liked the tanks, until they sucked and that didn’t take too long. The entire highly trained extremely well equipped enemy just sucked against a handful of farmers with a trap so obvious the enemy figured it out before the battle and still failed somehow

On a side note Fallout's VFX reminds me of The Boy's (especially the gory violence FX) so I wonder if we'll see similar qaulity in Henry Cavill's Warhammer 40K series? The Brotherhood of Steel's knights costumes are probably a good test for Space Marine's armor I wonder too.

I mentioned that as well. I think this at least gives hope for what sounded a bit far fetched as far a quality with armor in a tv series or straight to streaming movie. Visually I think the Warhammer project will look great, but we’re gonna have to wait and see about the story itself.

Well, the alternative would be for the show's producers and writers to pull a GoT season 8 and just make stuff up; thereby guaranteeing that they bollocks thing up and end up pleasing almost no one.  That they respected and adhered to the source material is a glowing testament to their restraint and deference to the book's author... a rare and commendable thing this day and age.

A book is a different thing that relies heavily on imagination. A show is something that we have to be shown to be satisfied, especially when the entire buildup of the show leads to something that is only hinted at with many things left unfinished.

When the kids were looking at the helmet and talking about its damage and just showing the main character rolling in bed without showing that great battle was a giant middle finger to the audience.

It reminded me of the episode that made me stop watching startrek DS9 when a bunch of Klingons were going into an epic battle and instead of the epic battle it cut to them singing and partying. I think I stopped liking Startrek for a long time after that

Looks like someone didn't read the book or watch the original 1980-miniseries. 😁 They all end the same way.

      Hide contents

The whole idea is that Toronaga skillfully manipulated the situation to benefit him and he barely has to lift a finger. Everyone turns against Ishido guaranteeing when they meet at the Battle of Sekigahara, Ishido's forces WILL lose.

I did read the book, but saw the original many years ago and have long forgotten it. I think that’s a poor excuse for a terrible final couple of episodes.

https://collider.com/zack-snyder-twilight-of-the-gods-image/femme person with red hair and pale skin and bold neck tattoos looking skyward in twilight of the gods

Remindes a bit Cartoon Saloon style (The Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea and Wolfwalkers)

It’s Zack Snyder, so it has a god chance at being terrible. He should probably go back to doing zombie stuff, his other things are pretty bad. Hopefully this doesn’t rely on slomo, although the animators would probably appreciate it if it did

So, the latest ep, the plotting was a little weird to follow:

      Reveal hidden contents

Rogue touches Gyrich to discover what exactly?  Main X-Men get the call from Trask, but decide to make a detour to pick up Rogue first?

And yes, they’re still playing loose with the continuity from the old series.  Jean already read Cable’s mind during an old ep and discovered Cable’s ties to hers and Scott’s (then) future.  So, a minor retcon there.

And where the hell is Storm?

    Spoiler

Storm’s on a ranch gettin busy. Although after finding out things were a mess she should have shown up

and they really are doing some odd things with the continuity since as I’ve said before Morph pretended to be Xavavier in good health on tv so everyone around the world would think he was fine. As far as Jean knowing Cable was Cyclops’s son, I can’t remember if that had happened before or after she was replaced by the Goblin Queen. I know it happened, just can’t remember exactly when.

Overall was a pretty good episode Rogue showing off a bit was fun and definitely looked better than her action scenes in the original episodes. Wolverine still has a weird sounding voice in these episodes. But at least there’s more Nightcrawler, just too bad they had to kill off a member of the team to add him in

  15. Up until the last couple episodes, I thought this show would be in contention for best show of the year. Now I see that it’s in contention for either the most hated or hopefully forgettable shows of the year. It started out so good and kept giving hope things would go somewhere interesting and it just gets more and more depressing and ends as a total teaser with nothing but depression.

    Spoiler

Second to last episode is like putting a loved one on suicide watch because the main lady keeps trying to kill herself only to be stopped constantly. There’s action scenes, but they come off more as rich people ordering their subordinates to die for them to prove a point. The lady finally dies after trying constantly trying to either kill herself or get killed by others. This gives hope that in the last episode we will finally see Crimson Sky.

Towards the end of the last episode we find out that Crimson Sky already happened. It was all just manipulation of perception to lead to a final battle that we will never see. All that training with canons and such basically for nothing, just a distraction. The main character is dying a horrible death and seems blind and bedridden back home while kids hold the helmet he was given in defense of his master in a battle that never gets shown. We are left waiting for an epic end in a final episode that’s just an epilogue to the events of the last episode. Whe don’t even find out how the main character gets back home

Overall, I feel manipulated by the creators of the show into thinking this was gonna be a great show with a truly epic conclusion and felt completely let down. It’s pretty and gruesome. And a lot of depressing people doing a lot of depressing things.

Seriously..F..k this show, I wish I never started it

Looking into starting this one tonight or later this week

How necessary is it to have played (or at least be familiar with) the game series?

(Asking because I have never played the games and have basically zero familiarity with the franchise beyond hearing some friends complain about Fallout 76.)

I’ve never played the games and didn’t feel lost at all with the show. Just about everything you might be a little lost on gets a bit of an explanation as the show rolls with a few things left for season 2
