We all know that Anime was often (nearly always?) butchered when brought to the US in the seventies and eighties - but this is what somebody in Japan did to the closing credits for Space 1999.  Made the worse by the English version only have music (and darn good music too) so there was no need to translate anything.  (and yup, not the record for thread necromancy but this one is old)

This is just how Japanese teach sex education and the subject of fertilizing an egg

On a comics forum, I was instructed that Storm's magical background has comics precedence. That's probably not enough for me to justify a magical girl transformation + Saiyan hair growth, but I thought it looked cool. I was also reminded that Storm transformed her civilian clothes into her Jim Lee costume in the original show's pilot, so at least there's some consistency. But anyway, seeing David Cockrum's Storm design on screen is a big win IMO, regardless if it makes sense.

I didn't really care as much for the Shi'ar plot. As I mentioned earlier, Deathbird failed in her coup attempt against Lilandra, and I think the show's continuity would be better if there were more apparent consequences for her treason. I like that you pointed out that someone's been jailed for "murdering" Xavier even though every X-Man knew he was recovering in outer space. If you've never seen the classic Fox Kids show, this would be pretty jarring.

I like Superman and a lot of Superman pastiches, so I thought Gladiator was pretty awesome in this episode.

    Spoiler

As far as our guy in jail for “MURDER” , they showed him in the first episode of 97. And in the last episode of the original series everyone saw Xavier go to space. Even Morph pretended to be Xavier in a television broadcast to try and make it appear that he was completely fine and dandy. Obviously the shows are connected, it’s just a weird thing that everyone pretended that he was dead and accepted a will from Xavier as well.
It probably wouldn’t have bugged me if I hadn’t watched the old episodes right before starting the new ones, because I’d forgotten a lot of the show over the decades

Few episodes in and I like it, not love though. My wife is meh with her opinion, lol. Neither of us played the game so that may matter?

I don’t think playing the game matters. My lady and I both loved it and think it’s the best show of the year so far . My daughter did play the games, and she likes it as well

    What did I just watch?

Kid friendly designs bouncing around doing physical comedy. I understand that's for the really young kids but who is the humor for? Adult fans? Nope to them Transformers is serious business. For the little kids parents how have to take them to see this? Cringe dialog like that is going to make their experience better. Doesn't matter what the Transformers say kids will enjoy the bouncing robots.

    Car Keys the Movie.

This is toddler friendly at best. G1 transformers seems like adult animation compared to this

I am definitely not in the age group for this movie.  I still do not like it.  I hate murderous B-127.  One positive is no Humans in the movie I hope.

The age group here is maybe three. Anyone older than that would probably be disappointed by the treatment of the characters. A child at four or five probably already knows the main characters and would be thrown off by their goofiness. As far as humans, probably not, but from this preview they’d be an improvement for once

  6. Finished the most recent episode of X-Men 97 and it was an odd mix of good animation, meh animation, good action and an bunch of cringy moments.

    Spoiler

At least they finally got back to showing the Professor. I still think it’s weird that there’s a guy in jail for his murder and a will for a guy that everyone knew was still alive. The whole classroom thing was the silliest bit of cringe though. Do those people even understand the whole Apple thing.

Storm got her powers back in an odd fight against tight spaces and if anyone remembers her from the old episodes, she doesn’t like boxes. Oddly her nightmare was animated really well. But on another bit of odd cringe she somehow gained the power to make a new costume in mid air, and change her hairdo. So now her powers allow her to control weather, be a hairdresser and tailor all at once. I kinda get the feeling that the animators really liked Sailor Moon. At least Storm might not be afraid of tight spaces anymore, because that was an annoying weakness.

Oops I didn't make the link earlier between Bandai's and Takani's art. Too bad Bandai didn't make a sample of Milia's GBP. Although Max's look alright, I am thinking her's might look too striking as I imagine hers being color swapped of Max's.

Haha not only BBTS didn't update the pic, but they didn't update the price either. It's USD100 on KC's site now.

I guess bbts has the discount price then, cause mine was $87.99 and then there’s the $4 for shipping and that’s still about $8 cheaper

  8. Moderoid mark 2 and economy both went up for preorder at the usual spotsIMG_2585.webp.bb888509c5627ed01d26ca3939c01781.webpIMG_2586.webp.0f06e64d983c65af4e3d51382bc5710b.webpwas getting a little worried. We hadn’t had any new moderoids for Patlabor in a lil bit. Hope there’s still more to come.

    25th Anniversary.

I still watch the show when a new episode hits Hulu, but it’s been lagging the last few seasons. They should bring back Herbert. They haven’t had that old man in a long time and I also really miss Death even after he was recast

Yeah, you really can't see inside, but it would have been cool if you could pose it with him eating a shrimp with chopsticks while the visor is open🤣! - MT

Definitely would have been worth a few extra bucks, but I was just thinking that there’s a few other spots like the human leg parts that would need to be different. Kinda wondering if a second release might happen that also includes shrimp’s chopsticks as a bonus

I thought the lack of a Koji face for the pilot was inexcusable. 😒

I would have liked it as well, but I just think about it as the test type that it was with a generic test pilot. It is strange though, but definitely not a deal breaker especially when it’s tough to see inside.

Seeing Gladiator serving Deathbird got me interested right away since last we saw Deathbird, her coup to take the throne from Lilandra failed.

EDIT: This takes me back to the height of Game of Thrones, but first thing I see when I go to YouTube was a video with a spoiler for today's episode in the title. 🤦‍♂️

It’s best to avoid any social media with these shows like this until you’re caught up. It’s unfortunate that people will try and spoil things in the teaser box making it tougher to avoid

Just for clarification, Macross II had nothing to do with either Shoji Kawamori or Studio Nue.  Mecha designs were by Koichi Ohata.

I think that’s why he said sorry, as in he felt guilty for liking the non Kawamori stuff more than his designs other than the vf-1

Obviously, Kitz Concept failed to provide them with accurate photos, but how long did it take them to inform BBTS of the "important design change?" 🤨

Really?  I ordered as well and haven't heard squat from them.

I got that message the other day. They may have just got the numbers for international retail orders and are finally shipping them out

  15. Finally got through to the last episode. Definitely the best show of the early part of the year and another great for Prime. I really can’t make a complaint about this one. It was a great mix of fun and dramatic and horrifying and action packed and hilarious. It was definitely a great season and really want more
