  1. I cannot overstate the level of want I have for this thing. Mazinger was way before my time, but I still love it. So many things pile up around the time it's supposed to come out though. I dunno how I'm gonna swing a purchase this big on top of everything else.
  2. http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/tokyo-toy-show-images-mp13-soundwave-and-minions/25096/ More Soundwave with Minions images
  3. I'm in a similar boat. I mostly confident Otacute or Nippon should be able to fill one of my pre-orders. But I'm watching HLJ too. Worst case scenario is they all come through and I sell the extras at cost to people here.
  4. These were wayyyyyyyy before my time as a Macross collector. By the time I got into Macross (about the time I joined this site) there were much nicer options. But I'd be very tempted to snag a re-issue of one of these simply for the history of the mold. I feel like my Macross collection needs at least one to be legit.
  5. Is double nuts the white/blue one? I freaking loved that paint scheme, wish I had shelled out for it when it was new.
  6. I've been messing with my 1/48 Roy a lot lately, and damn....those stock hands are some of the ugliest there is. I'd definitely be interested in some replacements.
  7. Oh I remember. I also recall discussions about the gullet, the crooked gunpod of the original, concerns that it wasn't 1/48 like the mighty VF-1's we had at the time. But the wait was worth it, especially at the time, that original 1/72 was really really awful looking. Lots of easily chipped diecast, floppy, decently ugly in every mode (especially fighter), man that thing was a mess. Most of us were just happy to have something that was an improvement. It gets a lot of flak it seems, but I still love mine, if only for Battroid mode. I remember buying it down at Frank and Sons (probably for too much) and even my non-collector/non-Macross fan friends thought it was cool. If/When they do another YF-19, I'll probably keep it in fighter. If it looks really good maybe I'll be tempted to by multiples of it even. The Macross bug has bitten me reallllyyyy hard, so I'm definitely in the right state of mind to buy multiples.
  8. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person that likes the old /160 19. Sure it isn't perfect, but I threw the FPs on it the other day in Battroid mode and it just looks awesome. Inaccurate perhaps, but awesome. That being said, I'd at least consider a new one if/when they release it.
  9. Soundwave is about as perfect as I could have imagined. And the extra cassettes, awesome. I can't freaking wait. Edit: It looks like Laserbeak may even have the camera in his head.
  10. Awesome tip Tober, just reserved one there. Between them and Nippon I feel....mostly confident about securing one. They have a pretty strict no cancellation policy, so hopefully they make good. Still intend to keep my eyes on HLJ, but hopefully it wont really be required. Also Otacute is cheaper, so I'd be even happier if they came through.
  11. Damn, that was practically on demand. That looks amazing. No regrets about that pre-order.
  12. BBTS handled the Soundwave price hike pretty well I think. At current exchange rates, Soundwave would be 198.99 USD (15800 JPY). As one of the people who pre-ordered prior to the price change, BBTS has the price at 160. That's a pretty nice drop especially when you include shipping costs.
  13. I've never been able to find the US exclusive MPs in the actual stores. I am hoping Soundwave is closer to Prime's height if only because I like larger figures.
  14. That is so damn cool. But dear god, he is 462 usd with today's conversion. I mean it's huge, and glorious, but that is a lot of money in one go.
  15. It's true, and I can remember part of why I loved Prime when I was really little is simply because he was the biggest in the episodes I'd seen. I'm really excited at the stuff they are churning out for this updated MP line.
  16. These things are like trading cards or something. Everyone just snaps up what they can and swaps for what they actually wanted later.
  17. Wow that does look really nice. So nice in fact I'm tempted to see about a pre-order.
  18. I know I'm way late to the party on this stuff, but my GX-45 Mazinger Z from Bandai showed up today. This is my first Mazinger, my first true super robot toy and my first SOC since the original EVA Unit 1. I am blown away by how fantastic this figure is. Lots of nice ratchet joins, beautiful finish, awesome sculpt. I know the SRC figures are really popular right now, but having something almost entirely diecast like this is awesome. Everything about Mazinger just screams quality, materials, paint...everything. I definitely want this to be the first of many Chogokin purchases. I've been eying items from Aoshima and Max Factory for a while now and this has prompted me to budget for some of those in the future.
  19. Will buy because Soundwave is easily in my top 3. Despite loving and owning Transformers since I was old enough to know how to play with them, I've never had a Soundwave. This MP is almost as much of a no brainer for me as Optimus was.
  20. Fair points, since I hadn't seen Frontier until very recently or bought the toys I really hadn't followed threads on the subject. All I can really remember about the first ones were bendy head lasers on the S and no necks.
  21. So is it the time frame between that makes the Renewals so bitter for early adopters? Because it seems like everyone wants Yamato to crank out another V2 of the Yf-19 or the 21 or w/e. People seem to clamor for V2s from one company and condemn another for putting them out. I don't have any Frontier Valks so I can't really share in the irritation people have about them as a whole. The supply thing, of course, I can now sympathize with.
  22. Despite all the drama surrounding the pre-order for this, I still love Bandai overall. Their choice of quantities is a little odd, but they have a pretty solid record and it's nice that they acknowledged all the flaws with the original toys and updated them. The renewals are just gorgeous looking. Originally I had wanted an Ozma, and while I still like him best of all the Frontier pilots, the G is just fantastic looking. The color and the head design are the best imo, so I fully intend to make the G my first renewal. Ultimately I'll let my experiences with it determine my Frontier collection.
  23. So what exactly is the problem with the engineering on MP-12? I've seen this said before but I don't really understand what people are taking issue with.
  24. The GIF sums this up pretty perfectly. Almost 3 am here, that's been my cutoff. I'll be really curious to see when the the pre-order actually opens.
