    To be fair, the scenario involving paying royalties to HG is only an absolute in "HG's World." All it would really take is for a company (after paying those licensing fees) to be balsy enough to just ignore HG's threats of litigation. Hell, at thsi point, I think all it would take is a company like Manga to go out and get new masters of Plus from Big West, and release those here. Going by the rule of "we have copyright on the name Macross," Manga's ability to get Plus out the door before those shinanigoats started, and continue to release "Macross" without paying said copyright all these years would kill any litigation HG could try. And bonus, Manga & BE already have a history of working together with Stand Alone Complex.

    Gasaraki was interesting (but slow as all hell) right up until the end when it totally fell apart with it's slapdash ending. Definately didn't hold up to the much superior Votoms, or Blue Gender.

    IN SDF Macross, Minmay's effect on the outcome of the battle wasn't during the actual fight with Bodolza, which was out & out culture shock/distraction tactic. If the spies hadn't snuck aboard the Macross, and shared what they found there, humanity would have died, no matter how many reaction weapons were thrown at Bodolza. -Minmay's songs awaken feelings through out the Britai Adoclas Fleet. -Britai's grunts get super horny & decide to defect -Britai & Exedor wisely assess the situation, if they don't defect too, Bodolza will take them out back & have them shot due to "contamination." -The Britai Adoclas fleet provides pivotal information on Bodolza's fleet command structure. -Despite heavy losses on Earth's side, the remaining weapons stockpiles on the Macross + the last act of the Grand Cannon + the 10,000 or so strong Britai Adocals fleet + Exedore's strategy of only going after the lead ships + Hikaru's idea of disrupting the chain of communication between those lead ships & their fleets by using Minmay = Absolutely nothing without the feelings awoken in Britai's fleet by Minmay's influence. It's that concept that all subsequent Macross series (Plus, 7, Frontier) built upon. Not the simple act of the culture shock. Do you really think Kawamori & co missed their own commentary on how fleeting the effect of culture shock is for any kind of long term? Come on. Nekki Basasara is the ultimate culmination of theory that emotions shared from one person to another can influence an outcome. Sharon Apple was the antithysis of that very concept by showing the ultimate outcome of the culture shock theory. Which brings me to my favorite scene in Super Robot Wars Alpha 3, where Basara totally pwn's Sharon

    If Big West wanted to stick toes into the U.S., why would they waste time with small potatoes, when they already have a full working relationsihp with Bandai Visual (and by proxy international sister Bandai Entertainment).?

    The G-Armor, G-Sky, etc, were all Bandai/Sunrise "improvements" on Tomino's story. i.e. They wanted nifty toys to sell. Tomno thankfully cut them all out when he did the movie re-edit.

    Once you get later in the series, you'll see that Newtypes were "always there."

    What the hell kind of Macross fan are you? Do you even pay attention to the shows? Don't you remember the Macross episode "Satan's Dolls," where after extensive research, Exedor discovered that the Protoculture imprinted the genes of all life they "altered" with the Rocky Horror Picture Show?!

    I've said it before, and I'll say it agian. You want Robotech with original writing, characters, mecha? It was galled Exosquad, and it was good. Unfortunately, it wasn't an HG product

    U.C. Gundam is about Newtypes. Or more accurately, Tomino's U.C. Gundam is about Newtypes, and the struggle old types have with fighting evolution into Newtypes. And of course Char's nasty habbit of backstabbing everyone in the universe because he holds grudges like no ones business.

    I'm pretty sure 7 & Plus were in production during the same (or very close) period of time, i.e. the VF-17 was likely already designed when it came time to toss it into Plus.

    Ryu with no Shin-Shoryuken made zero sense in IV. He had a prototype version of it in Alpha, nothing here, and the perfect one in 3rd strike. PAY ATTENTION CAPCOM!
