Umm. let's tak a tally of "Free Anime On Free Television" that had nothing to do with Macek. -Astroboy -Gigantor -G Force -Speed Racer -Starblazers -Voltron -Force 5 -Mazinger Z -(I absolutely refuse to call it Tranzor Z) -Might Orbots And I'm sure several others I'm forgetting. And let's be really honest here, there is one, and only one real reason any show from Japan with transoforming robots woiuld wind up on TV, syndicated or otherwise, the popularity of T-R-A-N-S-F-O-R-M-E-R-S. Twas not Macek wh invented the beast, he was just one of many who cheaply jumped on the bandwagon. Also, really, you need to get off of this "free on tv" thing, it's stupid, and obnoxious as all f*ck. Back to the topic though, Anime on TV didn't start to gain any kind of full steam until Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, & Pokemon popped up almost 10 years later. Much too late to count "Robotech" as a determining factor there. Despite the delusional grandure of Robotech fans, the shows influence was a mere drop in the bucket.

For anyone holding out on the blurays becausae of that gigantic box with the disc sleeves, looks like someone finally got a clue about how to package disc's. Now to wait for that price to drop a little...

Dude, I WAS THERE! I bought anime at retail prices on VHS, and not just any anime on VHS at retail prices, but SUBTITLED anime on VHS at retail prices, which easily ran $10+ over the dubbed versions, for just as few episodes. I have another realization for you, very little anime ever made it to tv period, and that which did was always dubbed, which wasn't what I wanted. TV broadcast is hardly the end all be all. I also have no doubt we'd all have seen Macross eventually, just as I've seen countless anime series without them being dubbed or on TV. Robotech was never the sole method of bringing Macross out over here, and really, had it never happened, we'd likely have not only Macross TV, but 7, Zero, and Frontier by now as well.

What do you think Robotech cost on VHS back then? And you still only got like 2 episodes per tape. Pretty sure the Macross portion was released on like 18 cassettes.

Seriously, and yet another reason I miss Bandai Visual U.S. Whle they weren't 100% going to do it, they'd have been the most likely candidate to do it.

What if you filmed yourself flying it around (zoom, whoosh, and the like), and then submitted the film to cannes as "Robotech: The Live Action Movie." Win Win for everybody.

I know you've been out for a bit, so I figured I'd mention it again, the Gurren Lagann movies are coming U.S. only straight from Bandai. If I had the extra scratch, I'd pick you up a set, but I'm sure there's someone around who can.

From what I watched of that dub, which was admittedly mostly Mari parts, she actually did pretty good. Her portrayal, though decidedly older now, was pretty damn close, and while her English is slightly awkward, she still outshines both the new cast, and the old dub cast. Also, don't blame bad dub acting for Roy's outlandishness, he's supposed to be bigger than life, that's part of his charm.

The difference is the large segment of the intentionally ignorant robotech fanbase. The part that neither wants to know the difference, nor cares about the origins of things. All they want is more rick hunter, and will scalp whatever they can in the hopes of getting it.

I'm willing to bet Akusho is part of another colony ship that was being constructed, just slap dashed onto City 7 at Max's request as a part of "Project M." Afterall, Basara had to have someplace to practice flying. If he went outside the ship, the operators would have freakd out. If he did it inside City 7, the citizens would have freaked out. Akusho being totally off the maps & uninhabited makes it the perfect training ground.

Even though Toy Story 3 looks Brave Little Tostery so far, I still can't wait to see it. Hell, Wall-E & Up both greatly surprised me, and I already loved Nemo & the Incrediles.

No reason to be bitter just 'cus you can't play import UMD's that aren't available via download even in their native countries. Fewer features + higher costs = idiots choice afterall.

It also has a smaller screen, and no Macross Ultimate Frontier which = fail! As for moviing parts, doesn't the screen extend outward from the button setup?

I don't lknow, I loved her in that cowgirl outfit. All in all, I liked it, even if it was a bit more slapstick than the first film. But my real question, wtf happened to Sean Patrick Flannery, he seriously looks like sh!t.

I've been reading horror stories on the PSN forums about 3.15 and later updates causing the BD drive to run over spec and burn out its board due to sony speeding it up to increase load times, but at this point, I figure the more paces I put my system through, the better. If it's going to go out for some random reason, I'd rather find out sooner than later. As for the fan in general, mine seems to go load whenever I try to play Valkyria Chronicles for some reason.
