  1. Poor Cannon Fodder Valkyrie, looks like I forgot to post a picture, but the enemy never forgets to take them down first.
  2. You are my hero Jesse, thank you!
  3. Well, you could ask Fulcy since he was working on improved head lasers for the 1/48 valkyrie. The head lasers are of course metal, and hollow. You could also ask all of the Hasegawa builders that hollow out the antennaes, and the Strike Cannon barrels as well. The same applies to the photo-etched parts made by Hasegawa and dozens of other companies. In most cases, these metal parts just fit over the plastic ones, and often aren't that noticeable. The simple reason is increased realism. It's easier to buy a metal head laser that is already hollowed out. Why metal, because you can easily get machined aluminum/brass tubes and just cut them to size. People buy these parts, PE parts, resin upgrade parts and so forth, just so they can make their project as nice and as realistic as they possibly can. It's not to say the stock kits aren't good enough in and off themselves, but obviously the same companies that made the kit, market metal replacement parts to improve their kits.
  4. Here are some pictures of the various items before Howard mailed them to me: Gokigen-Seimetsu Hasegawa Upgrade Items: Gokigen-Seimetsu VF-22S: Kantogakuindaigaku-Mokeidourakuka YF-19 Battroid 2005 Improved Articulation Version: I'll get all of the items from the (3) sellers together, and I'll post some updated pictures. Later, Christopher
  5. I received permission to post the name of the creator of these awesome valkyries. Here at MW, he goes by AchtungMacross, and his name is Thomas. Here's his website: Modeling Homepage
  6. All right, that's all of the pictures for now. (6) more custom valkyries are planned, before we move on to Macross Plus and then Macross Zero. I decided not to use 1/48 scale Yamato valkyries because of the large size. The Yamato 1/60 scale was considered, but I just can't get passed the too thin nosecone. I already commissioned a bunch of 1/55 valkyries, so that was not an option. For me, the Hasegawa kits are the perfect choice because of the detail, decals, and the options. Thanks to Devin and a custom decal order that was placed last year, I was able to get all of the limited Hasegawa sets reproduced, plus I commissioned some new sets, and ordered some of his existing sets. Here is the list and some pictures: 1.) Devin's Blue Roses (Dark Blue/Yellow Trim) 002 x 2 (with blue rose emblem) 2.) Devin's Blue Roses (Blue Camouflage) 004 x 2 (with blue rose emblem) 3.) Devin's Blue Roses (Desert Camouflage) 006 x 2 (with red rose emblem) 4.) Devin's Blue Roses (Green Camouflage) 008 x 2 (with green rose emblem) 5.) Devin's Low Visibility Squadron Set x 2 6.) Devin's Enigma Option Set x 2 7.) Devin's Minmay Guard Battroid Set x 4 8.) Hasegawa Option Set 1 x 4 Copies 9.) Hasegawa Option Set 2 x 4 Copies 10.) Hasegawa Option Set 3 x 4 Copies 11.) Hasegawa Limited Edition Minmay Guard Set x 4 Copies 12.) Hasegawa Clear Valkyrie Decal Sheet x 4 Copies The vibrancy of the decals appear muted because of the decal paper, but once applied they are just like the original, but you don't have to worry about spending a lot of money just to cut up the original Hasegawa sets.
  7. Hayao, the lamented pilot who was so tragically killed. His fate was decided before he lived, because someone in the squadron had to die. One of my favorite valkyries, because I like green, and one of my favorite pilots because he also enjoyed two of my vices in life, women and steak.
  8. Max, the ladies man, and the next in line after Roy to pilot the VF-1S:
  9. The reluctant hero, Hikaru, in the ever popular, Strike Valkyrie:
  10. The fearless leader, Roy, flying his venerable Strike Valkyrie:
  11. One of my favorites because I'm into WWII airplanes, and I don't believe anyone has done a Hasegawa like this. Some of us old timers of course remember Rick the Hunters Nazi Valkyrie, complete with Sig Heil arm position, but it was certainly different from this one: Don't worry, I came up with plans for a future Hasegawa custom, which will be able to handle this German valkyrie. It's part of an alternate universe I've been working on.
  12. I agree; however, a custom does not have to be "modified" to be considered a "custom," or else all of the items listed in the custom toy section would have to be moved. Just like model kits, toys are blank canvasses as well that can be painted anyway desired. The vast majority of toys and models are made out of plastic, and the only real difference is that a toy comes already assembled. Chad's idea sounds good, but I caution that if we begin splitting hairs as to what constitutes a custom, and what doesn't, (2) separate sections will be needed, and who will be in charge of deciding? It's much easier to follow the example already set by the custom toy section, and just have one section for built model kits. In my opinion if we get hung up on what is or isn't a custom, we are missing out on what matters about Macross, and that is our childlike enjoyment of a cartoon.
  13. Graham, Yeah, I was able to get (2) of them, but I have no idea how many were for sale. If you would like, just let me know your mailing address and I'll send you one of them, no charge. Perhaps you could use your influence to help create a Custom Model Section, similar to the Custom Toy Section. Chad, I'm glad you were also able to get most of the items. Did you use one agent, or two? If you would consider posting a comparision between last years YF-19 Battroid and this years, it would be appreciated. I'm of course presuming that you got another one from the recent Wonder Festival. Sincerely, Christopher
  14. Wow, awesome job!!! I can't quite remember what show the kit is from, but I like it. Battlestar Gallatica perhaps? Looks a little Star Wars-ish. Regardless, it looks very realistic and the weathering/damage is right on the mark.
  15. I'll post the creators name as soon as he says its all right. I'm sure he'll be proud to see his name mentioned in this thread, but I want to respect his privacy as well.
  16. More pictures coming soon! I'm posting them to share with my fellow MW fans. Jesse, you are more than welcome to use any of the pictures you want my friend.
  17. Low Visibility VF-1A: PS: My lucky number was used for this valkyrie's designation!
  18. Angel Birds: Feel free Jesse, anything I can do to help.
  19. Jesse, Don't be too hard on yourself. After seeing your list of 1/72 Macross items, I'm the one that's envious. I'll take care of getting you scans of whatever items you need, plus you'll probably want to list the Battroid YF-19 as Version 1 and Version 2, or perhaps WF 2004 and WF 2005, based upon the changes made between releases. I know that Chad was tasked with the previous release, but I'm not sure if he has the new one as well. Best wishes, Christopher
  20. Hello, MW has a custom section for toys, how about a reference section for custom Macross models? It seems only fair and fitting, and it will be an easy way to keep track of what's been done rather than searching through threads and the web. Anyway, here are some of my customs, built for me, not by me. (2) pictures of each. I'll post more pictures as soon as possible. The customs have become quite an investment, but I prefer 1/72 scale because of the display size, and the level of detail featured by Hasegawa. For example, all kits feature as applicable: Kit price Standard Photo-Etch Set VF-1D Photo-Etch Set (special HLJ order) Display Stand Weapons Set Custom Anasazi Decals (Engima/Blue Roses Versions/Etc.) Starting with the VE-1 Digital Camouflage "Green Roses": Enjoy, and please feel free to post your comments. Sincerely, Christopher
  21. Hello, I was very fortunate to have been able to obtain some awesome items from Winter WF 2005. The people who play with "toys" were of course disappointed by the lack of "generic Macross just-remove-from-box and display items", but for model fans, this WF had a good deal of cool items available. Obtaining these items did not happen overnight, and was not due to luck. I started working on WF Winter 2005 over (6) months ago by staying in contact with MW's designated agents. It took dozens of e-mails/PMs, but the hardwork paid off in the end, and I really appreciate the (3) people who made it happen. I consider all of them to friends, and I'm looking forward to getting more goodies from the next WF event. By the way, although voluntary, I decided to limit myself to (2) of each item, so as to share the wealth with my fellow fans. As before, I've already contracted with the agents for the next event, because the early bird gets the worm. Without further rambling by me: Winter Wonder Festival 2005 Items Obtained by Howard: 1.) Kantogakuindaigaku-Mokeidourakukai 1/72 YF-19 Battroid Valkyrie 2.) Gokigen-Seimetsu 1/72 VF-22S conversion kit 3.) Gokigen-Seimetsu 1/72 VF-0A metal head laser 4.) UN-Balance 1/72 YF-19 Fastpacks With regard to the YF-19 battroid kit, I'm glad that I did not purchase the previous version, because in the interim period between Wonder Festivals, the creator greatly improved the articulation. Sincerely, Christopher
  22. Hi Chad, I can't really do any painting where I currently live, plus I don't have an airbrush with me, so I won't have an opportunity to try for a while. Christopher
  23. I'm not saying this color scheme is cannon, but these are the wings we have installed on a Hasegawa YF-19:
  24. Good idea Chad, I've been wondering the same thing. I would hate to waste such a cool set of wings by not making sure the color scheme is worthy of their use. On second thought, I'll let you stick with cannon, and I'll go for custom.
