  1. Hello, I'm excited about these valkyries. I haven't purchased any Macross related items for quite a while, and I like the scale as well as the price range. However, I expect that the valkyries with more accessories will be $10 to $15 higher. I love the Gundam Fix Figures (GFF), and don't mind swapping parts, because I find it to be fun, and hopefully the box trays will be designed like GFF to have cut-outs for each item. They make a nice display too. We've come a long way since I first joined over (7) years ago and had no choice but to buy used Jetfires on eBay and commission someone (Jung/Rosario/Mslz22/Takatoys/etc) to make a custom with extended nose, leg/feet mods, swing bar and etc. But, like the GFF series I agree that it will most likely take a while to work our way through the various versions. Sincerely, Christopher
  2. Thanks for posting Fulcy. With regard to the question from "Ignacio Ocamica", Fulcy has no plans to retire from Macross, or stop participating. He and I are/were partners in the Armored Gerwalk (AG) project, which he doesn't like to completely give up on, but at the same time he doesn't want to indefinitely hold on to someone's property. That's why he's giving the unknown person a chance to come forward and correctly claim what was donated so long ago. Perhaps there is a talented individual who would like to create a custom AG conversion kit in either 1/48 or 1/60 scale, which can then be duplicated for other customers to buy. If so, they're welcome to contact me. Sincerely, Christopher
  3. Hello, I've been looking forward to this new release. The 1/48 valkyries are nice, but too large for my taste. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but (2) of the pictures from the HLJ website, appear to show what looks to be the head of a phillips screw on one the arm, armors. It's a dull silver color, round and looks to have the slots for a phillip head screwdriver. Perhaps that is what holds the two pieces together? I've been collecting VF-1's since my first Matsushiro Jetfire when I was (10) and I've been a member here (7) years, so this is my first time to see something like that on an arm armor. Perhaps it is only for the display toy and will not be on the production model. Sincerely, Christopher
  4. Definitely nice! After seeing this thread and the pictures, it's motivated me to start collecting again. The 1/48 valkyries are nice, but the size was a turn off for me, with regard to my display space limitations.
  5. Great job on the custom! It's been a really long time, like (5) years or more, but I used to buy quite a few of your custom 1/55 nosecones, complete with pilot, etc. I think I bought around (15) in one order. It brings back memories of the days when there was no Yamato, and your only option was a yellowed Jetfire or Joons off of eBay. Ha, ha. If I remember correctly, your name is Eric? Anyway, good luck with your auction! Sincerely, Christopher
  6. eugimon, First of all, I'll respond to your (4) points, but anything further please feel free to PM or e-mail someone else who cares. Actually, I'll only respond to (2) of the (4) via this thread, because the other half aren't debatable. It's common sense that Transformers will have planes and vehicles in it, which renders your point completely moot. Anyone who's seen the movie is aware that Optimus Prime fought with another type of (military) truck on the freeway. I never claimed otherwise, so this point is also moot. You're batting average is pretty low so far. 3.) The location of the actually freeways utilized is irrelevant. I compared freeway to freeway fighting, not the specific location. To the casual American/foreign observer the freeway locations are very similar, afterall there isn't much variation in concrete overpasses/etc. I'll get the (2) movies on DVD and compare the total time for each scene, but what would that prove? I never suggested the amount of time spent on the respective scenes was similar, so it isn't pertinent to the points I initially raised. 4.) I can't find your point here. Obviously, different jets have different abilities. Once again, to the casual average American/foreign observer, the planes look very similar, especially considering they are both new versions and colored grey. I don't mind discussing an issue, but I come to MW to enjoy myself, not get into petty little squabbles over my personal observations/speculations with complete strangers. My personal feelings/comments aren't subject to debate, because they are my opinion and no one will change them. Just because I posted my thoughts doesn't mean anyone has to ascribe to them. I'll be a member for (6) years in a few more months, and this website represents my love for a cartoon from my childhood, and I could care less whether you agree with me. I must be bored, because I can't believe I've wasted this much time just to indulge you with my "insightful" wisdom. Second of all, perhaps you've heard this already, but apparently forgot that: Arguing/debating on the internet is like competing in the Special Olympics. Even if you win, you're still a retard. What's the prize for winning anyway? Absolutely nothing! Lastly, you make assumptions as to why I don't consider this a debate. I've already explained myself, and it's your call if you still want to make an a** of yourself, but please leave me out of it. After all, if you assume, you make an a** out of you and me. Best wishes, Christopher
  7. Not a stretch at all: (2) movies released at almost the same time. Both feature the bad guy in new jets (F-22/F-35), and the good guy using almost identical semi-rigs, minus the paint scheme. They're are plenty of new trucks out, but they used the older style in both movies. Cars chased by planes, yes. Big rig truck chased by a plane? Don't patronize me, I never suggested his truck could transform, and there are a lot of other roads to fight on, especially in the DC, Baltimore, Virginia area. I should know, because I lived there a long time. I'm not comparing movies released (5) years or (1) year ago, and of course you can find similarities between a lot of movies. My suggestion doesn't diminish either movie, and I liked both of them. There's no need to go into a defensive status over my observation. It's not a debate, so let's agree to disagree. Later.
  8. Hello, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, and felt that some of the stunts were definitely not realistic. But then again, I didn't pay to see a "realistic" movie in the first place. I paid to be entertained, which I was. The week before I saw Transformers, and I recall that Starscream (bad guy) was a F-22 Raptor, but don't quote me as to whether that was the specific airplane. I also noticed that Optimus Prime (good guy) was a semi-truck. Both were in their typical vehicle roles. I'm not sure if I'm the first one to mention this, but it seems to be very coincidental that Bruce Willis was driving a similar semi-truck (grey) with box car style trailor, and he was attacked by a F-22 Raptor, which he destroyed. It would be one thing if these two movies were released in different years, but the similarity/symbology is amazing. They could have selected any other type of large vehicle, and/or different jets/helicopters. Not only that, but Transformers featured a scene where Optimus Prime had a nice fight on a large freeway, and the same is true for Die Hard 4.0. I can't help wonder if this was deliberate, especially considering both movies were made by/in Hollywood, and movie details aren't difficult to come by. My two cents, Christopher
  9. Thanks for your post Ken. So, it looks like you won't finish the kit then? Please send the refund to my Paypal account via: aperfectbluesky7@aol.com Take it easy, Christopher
  10. Hello, I've been away for a while, and I hoped that upon my return the recast project would be finished. Any news Ken? You mentioned refunds, and I was one of the lucky ones to be able to pre-order. I appreciate you giving me a chance to do that. As it stands now, it looks like I'm going to opt for the refund. I could look it up in my Paypal history if it'll go back over (2) years, but I think the amount was $100. Before you send any refund we should communicate, because it might not be the same Paypal account. No hard feelings regarding the project, and it'll be great if you intend to finish it. Please let me know. Best wishes, Christopher PS: My regards to everyone that I haven't talked with for a while, and I hope you're doing great! I wonder what Fulcy's been up to with the VF-1AG project I started?
  11. You did a great job! The paint and leg mod. really stand out. How much do you want to sell it for? Just joking, I'm in no position to buy anything until I get back to the states. I presume you used someone's E-seeker armor/head recast. Perhaps made by Rob or Mike? It's great to see a 1/55 custom, definitely nostalgic as well.
  12. This is definitely good news! Thank you for your diligence Ken, and good luck with the remainder of the project.
  13. Great job!!! The paint job looks flawless. To answer the question, it was Rick the Hunter who painted a 1/55 Elintseeker with this color scheme.
  14. JsARCLIGHT, You made some really salient points, and I agree with everything you said. Which is kinda scary for me. Mechamaniac, Thank you for the clarification. I had a feeling that you were referring to the "other type" of make me an offer threads. Best wishes to all, Christopher
  15. First of all, just because someone says "make me an offer" does not mean that they can't be trusted. The fact is, the seller is one of two things: Honest or Dishonest The method by which he sells by is irrelevant, because you can be screwed over just as easily by someone that states a fixed selling price. We can all list plenty of examples of people that have been taken advantage of, but I submit that the majority were via set price listings. If someone is here to rip people of, that is what they will try to do. All I'm trying to say is that it doesn't make sense to automatically associate "make me an offer" with a higher probability of theft/dishonesty. I'm an "old timer" and I've sold a ton of items here on MW, primarily via set price. I recently listed several items via (1) thread and allowed people to make me an offer on the items. Guess what, the customers got a fair price, and all of my items sold for an amount I was happy with. It worked out flawlessly, there was no bidding or anything of the sort. No one was screwed over or taken advantage of. Second of all, there is a difference between "make me an offer" and eBay. Just because you say "make me an offer" doesn't mean people are going to bid against each other. I might have a certain price in mind for an item, but I'm willing to take less, but wouldn't mind more, who wouldn't mind making a profit. The person makes an offer, and we go from there. It's a win - win situation for both people. Even when I provide a set price, people still PM me with offers. That's human nature my friend. It's also called "Haggling." Honest people should have the option to decide if they want to set a price or invite offers. Don't paint "make me an offer" with such a broad brush that it is related to being ripped off, or an auction. Auction sites charge fees, MW doesn't, auction sites allow "reserves", "Buy it Now" and hundreds of other differences. I strongly disagree with the suggestion that requiring sellers to set a price is going to somehow stop or even mitigate the possibility of people being taken advantage of. It's the seller you have to worry about, not his selling method. You're going after a branch of the tree, not the root of the problem. All buyers have to do is use common sense and check references or don't buy from that person. I seem to recall that the majority of the bad sales had nothing to do with people making offers, but rather sellers taking money and not sending the item. I challenge someone to research the bad sales and back-up their assertion with some facts. Otherwise, 9 out of 10 rip-offs are related to paid items not being mailed. How do you propose to fix that, but closing the 'For Sale" section? Maybe honest people like me sometimes wan't to sell only to MW fans, maybe we don't really like eBay or feel like losing money to their fees? As an honest established seller, I have a right to sell via set price or make me an offer.
  16. I agree with trueblueeyes & JsARCLIGHT. Just PM your nomination to one of the Mods., and they can decide if the title is warranted/appropriate. I think it's neat, because a custom member title can show you how someone else perceives you, perhaps in a way that you never really thought of. It can be fun and an eye opener at the same time.
  17. Sounds like a cool idea to me. Max says "members that are well known..." Any one can spam or use one liners to get a high post count, and if an arbitrary "post" count level is set, then you'll encourage people to post for no other reason than to get to that level. Base it upon longevity. I would trade (20) members that post 1,000 times and then disappear from MW in (1) year, for (1) contributing MW member that sticks around through thick and thin and has intelligent things to say. It's a nice way to reward members that are true Macross fans, because we've all seen people with high post counts come and go.
  18. I missed seeing that. Definitely convenient. If I remember correctly, the window that was broken was at the front of the bridge. I don't recall seeing that their view was blocked by any metal bulkheads. I'll just have to content myself to wait until it's released on DVD. Here in the Philippines, that only takes a few days.
  19. Hello, I saw the movie last night and really enjoyed it. I'm confused about a scene in the beginning, and my inability to rewind so I could figure out what happened caused me to keep thinking about it for a while. When Anakin and Obi Wan are fighting against General Grievous on the bridge of his ship, he takes out a weapon and shots it through one of the main windows of the bridge. His gun has a hook which he uses to attach to the ship so he isn't sucked into space, and then he reenters the ship and exits again via a escape pod. I remember seeing Anakin, Obi Wan and even Emperor Palpatine fighting to remain on the bridge and hold on so they don't get sucked into space. (reminds me of the part in Aliens where the Queen is sucked out of the cargo hold) Next thing I know, the bridge glass is completely intact, and the are crash landing. I know about movie magic, but I've never seen a spaceship designed where a replacement piece of glass slides into place, or something like that. Once it's gone, it's gone for good. So, what happened? How did they suddenly go from fighting for their lives to remain in a ship where the artificial environment is being sucked out into the void of space, to sealing the bridge again? The extreme heat from the reentry into earth's atmosphere should have fried them. Sincerely, Christopher
  20. Thank you very much for the information. Do you think we'll ever see a GP03 and/or a Buster Gundam?
  21. Hello, Pardon my ignorance. I've been keeping my eye on this thread since it started, because I'm a big Gundam fan and fan of the FIX figures, but I'm confused about something. It would appear that only "good" guy Gundams fall under the FIX line, since Bandai created the separate Zenography line of figures. They are all FIX figures, but separate. I also believe that all the figures are supposed to be 1/144 scale, which is slightly bigger than the MSIA? So, the next release is the XI "Penelope" Gundam, which I thought was part of the Gundam Seed storyline. Please correct me if I'm wrong. If that is correct, it would appear Gundam Seed will be included in the FIX line. If that is the case, why has Bandai started yet another pseudo-FIX line via the "Cosmic Region Force Impulse Gundam?" I saw one of them in a store here, and it looked really similar to the FIX figures, and costs the same price. Why not give it all of the FIX figure goodies, the box, display stand and so forth, rather than start a new line? So, we have MSIA, MSIA Extended, FIX, Zenography, and now yet another line of 1/144 figures? Of course improvements to figures are great (MSIA to MSIA Extended), but FIX is supposed to be the ultimate "MSIA" line. Will Bandai release a FIX Force Impulse Gundam at a later date just to make more money? This isn't meant to be rant, I'm just trying to figure things out rather than buy a psuedo-FIX now, when I could wait for the real deal. Thank you in advance for any clarification you might provide. Christopher
  22. Wow, definitely a nice looking kit. I really like the camouflage Hasegawa VT-1 as well.
  23. Yes, it was a prize from the MW Con. I decided to sell it to a friend before I went overseas. It looks like he decided to sell it as well, so hopefully it has found a loving home.
  24. I saw the Force Protection "Buffalo" when I was in Iraq, but I had no idea what it was until now. Thank you for the link. It's definitely an interesting looking vehicle.
  25. Chad, I know it's hard to tell from the pictures, but they are lightly weathered, but certainly not battle damaged or anything like that. Something I still want to become better at. Later, Christopher
