I would hope in the Avatar universe "unobtainium" is slang for some large scientific name or the commercial name of the element.

I'm waiting for the following items from three different sources: 1) Yamato 1/60V2 Hikaru VF-1J with GBP Parts 2) Yamato 1/60V2 Focker VF-1S Strike "Plus" Edition 3) Yamato 1/60V2 Elintseeker 4) Bandai DX Macross Quarter 5) Bandai Robot Damashii Q-Rea 6) Bandai Robot Damashii Alto 7) Bandai 1/250 Collection 2 (1 Box) CMs Drone Legioss 9) CMs Mospeada figure set

Robot Damashii is non-transformable, like Yamato's GNU Mac+ series. They're not really to any scale either, I believe they're slightly smaller than a 1/100 scale toy.

1/48+fp's, 1/60, And 1/72 Picture Gallery Pt 4

I think this was my favorite pic from the updated post I did on the Stealth. -
The more common comment is that the GBP VF-1 looks a lot like a hockey goalie. It makes sense either way, a humanoid form wearing bulky pads.

1/48 fits on all 1/48s... you're doing something wrong but I'm afraid I can't help you figure out what's up.

The trick is making a similar plot line FEEL fresh. Giving it a twist here or there. Avatar doesn't do this. It's one thing to say stories have similar plot points. That's bound to happen. Movies also normally have a pretty traditional format with three major acts, introductions, difficulties, resolutions. As long as the movie keeps you on your toes by misleading the viewer occasionally that's not an issue. Avatar never really attempts to mislead viewers. It points you in a direction and then takes you down that path. It's a pretty path... but not a surprising one.

My guess is, they made the switch, they went on vacation for the holidays, and now something is hung up and they're not around to fix it and even if they were there'd be no orders sent for a week.
-
I'm in the same boat with OD but I find it hard to believe all the old accounts are just gone. Maybe they'll make you create a new account but there's still a lot of old order information in with the old accounts. At least this doesn't look to be another Amenbo situation.

I know it seems unobtainium took a back seat in the film, and I think maybe we're missing a cut scene, but the unobtainium is the perfect conductor so that's theoretically how everything on the planet is connected. I think they were trying to dumb the film down to appeal to as many people as possible so they didn't focus too much on the undoubtedly very loose science that kept the fictional world together. I heard there was some featurette where it was explained that large unobtainium deposits also have large magnetic properties which is how the mountains fly and why sensors don't work and such. So, while it's not explained well it's playing a crucial part.

I'm waiting for a bunch of other toys to arrive so I can picture them all together. It probably won't be for at least another week . I'm looking forward to it but there's a lot of other things going on right now.
-
Most items they are very quick but I understand there's about to be an onslaught of Japanese holidays so you might be in for some delays.

Agreed, I used Detolfs for a long time and dust was very rarely an issue. If I ever have a chance to display my collection again I'm going to look for an old store display case that's taller and wider, preferably with locks. I had 4 Detolfs at one point... that was fun.

I bought mine on eBay, something like $175 shipped? I shouldn't go on eBay at work but I believe the guy had more of them. The listing is something like CMs Legioss Eta with Improved Parts. The Improved parts is pictured in the ebay ad and it does have the upgraded intakes, new gun, etc. The thing that is throwing me is that the upgraded parts are in a completely separate box. Essentially I got a first release Legioss/Tread and a supplemental box that I can use to upgrade it. I figured everything would just be in one box but that's not the case. I think CMs just cheaped it out big time, created a box of improvement parts, and then sent them to people who had existing Eta Legioss toys so they could sell the backstock as improved new stock. EDIT - This means I'm going to have an extra blue legioss/tread. If you don't care too much about the improvement parts shoot me a PM.
-
Did anyone else buy the upgraded CMs Blue Legioss/Tread? I'm wondering if my experience thusfar is typical. I essentially got a standard blue legioss and tread with an extra box that has the upgrade parts. I know the upgrade parts were just another tray they threw in but I thought they were all in the same box and mine came as two separate boxes... very odd.

Ha! I think I gave them a pass since it was a mecha with knife against biological stuff instead of two mechas or super beings dueling with knives. That last fight I definitely shut down mentally to just enjoy the visual spectacles.

They probably just adjusted everything for a more recent exchange rate.

Saw this movie this weekend and I'd say I was very pleasantly surprised. After the previews I went into it thinking "I'm going to hate this movie" which is usually a much better way to see a movie than going into it thinking you're going to love it. I was relieved that they explained that they COULD make the guy walk if he could afford it... I was really worried there was going to be a crap ton of tech but for some reason they hadn't solved spinal injuries. The 3D was a bit tough on me at first but after 10 minutes I began really enjoying it. The story was definitely full of cliche, stereotypes, and was very predictable but the movie stayed fun for me throughout. Even while I scoffed at all the coincidences in the last big battle I was still enjoying watching it unravel (just as you knew it pretty much would). Some of the subtexts could have been a bit more subtle also but with such a straight forward movie I guess it makes sense to be a bit blunt. So, the film elected to be a trailblazer visually and play things totally safe from a story perspective and I liked it. I'd watch it again if I was with a large group of people who hadn't seen it.

The 1/48 has superior detail, more features, and a correctly placed head. Those are huge pluses. There are also some cool 1/48 non-canon schemes. The 1/48 GBP is a marvel to behold but it does have a bit of wonkiness as far as proportions are concerned. The 1/60V2 VF-1 toy has much better proportions, less of a crotch at the expense of a misplaced head, and less features that many people felt were useless on the 1/48. It will be interesting to see if the 1/60V2 GBP can top the 1/48. I'm eagerly looking forward to doing a comparison.

I wanted to buy a Focker GNU but I still haven't found it for a reasonable price. Sigh.

T-Rex isn't Yamato...

Yes. The CMs figure kits are probably the last item for a long time. Speaking of which, does anyone know a shop selling those figure kits? I can't find them anywhere. I know they're out but lots of people I talk to either don't plan on carrying them or have them still listed for Preorder. Not sure what's going on with those.

I've never seen the unextended version of the last episode... but the extended version felt way long and a bit boring... -

Ooh Cally's death was a super intense moment. That was some fracked up stuff there. She seemed like such a sweet girl but then again, things aren't always as they seem. Things sure get awfully strange for the four from this point going forward. -

Yeah, The Plan would be a bad choice. The Plan is something to watch when you're done with everything... and even then I'd recommend you wait a month to watch it so it's not such a fresh rehash.
