Bandai 1/72 fully transform able VF-1 plastic kit for Macross 30th Ann
jenius replied to Vi-RS's topic in Model kits
Yamatos are definitely toys, it's no matter of opinion. It's a transforming vf1, that's why you're seeing the comparisons. If it didn't transform you'd see more model comparisons. -

Yeah, it almost looks like they made the strike cannon the exact same size as the missile boom. -

So many Yamato V2 comparisons. I think we all agree that the super parts are too small, I think we might disagree on HOW too small they are. Yamato actually went a bit big with their's, and they went WAY big with their arm armors. You might say that Bandai is off by the same margin but in the other direction and since super parts are meant to be SUPER it's easy to argue a bit bigger is a bunch better. Nosecone shape is really tough to judge in that pic above because it looks like the fit was poor in the landing gear area. -
They appear elsewhere but I thought their color schemes wouldn't really jive with this particular photo. Plus, I sold them ages ago (no regrets there) and they'd have to be digitally inserted (as I did elsewhere)

Why isn't this a turn based strategy game on a computer? Seems like it'd be pretty easy to accomplish. It kind of reminds me of the Sega CD game Dark Wizard.

Even if it's a V1 it will be an impressive display piece... it'll just take a little more patience. EDIT - Does anyone have a pictorial guide how to tell the difference between the various versions? I have some limited editions and I'd like to figure out which versions they were.

I think there's a whole thread dedicated to these little boogers. I also have a pretty expansive page up on anymoon. -
Diagrams and reference drawings for a large scale VF-1 or VF-0
jenius replied to Blazerwing's topic in The Workshop!
There's a scratch build 1/24 scale VF-1 that had a build-up on this site. Tracking it down and getting in touch with that member might be a great start. -
Sorry, I looked around, it looks like it has indeed sold out at most places. He who hesitates.... pays secondary market premiums. Seeing as we haven't gotten a VF-25S renewal re-release I'd say the odds are very much against a reissue this year. So my guess is we'll see Super Michael and Luca parts Tamashii exclusives announced soon for concurrent release after the RVF hits. I think we'll also hear about Alto Tornado parts before the end of the year. Then next year we'll see a Michael reissue at some point and then Tamashii exclusive Michael VF-25G Tornado Parts. Hopefully I'm wrong and Bandai decides to go the gift set route sooner!

No, it's still widely available. EDIT - maybe not... but if it's not any more it sold out recently.

Does the toy have a made in Taiwan stamp also our just the box? I assume it does since you mentioned the brighter paint.

This is totally how Yamato should have made Valkyries!

I'm pretty sure this rumor stems from the 80s when toys were made at numerous factories and shipped to different regions. Toys sold in Japan came from the Japanese factory which usually had the highest quality control. Gakken of Japan vs Gakken of Singapore is a good example.

A last ditch effort be takatoku to reduce costs? Not an official Macross merchandise either huh? Seems like that could have gotten them in trouble.
-
I absolutely think Arcadia will make Macross products, but I think they're going to run into lots of licensing issues as they've shown Bandai that there's a market for DX toys and they're not going to be able to outbid Bandai.

Sempai is a good example of a word that just doesn't translate well. There's no English title that comes to mind that gets thrown around with any frequency and conveys a similar relationship. What I miss about translations are the wording jokes that get destroyed. A lot of Japanese anime has puns or word plays that get lost. Hmmmm, this reminds me of discussions that used to happen around Working Designs imports of Japanese RPGs and the translation work they would do (Back in the Sega CD days if I'm not mistaken).

I've spent $500ish on several Macross toys 1) Bandai VT-1 2) Bandai VE-1 3) Takatoku 1/3000 SDF-1 All were in great shape and wonderful purchases. I also spent about $500 for my Yamato 1/12 TC with Odon Parts giftset.

I think it's a great toy in battroid mode. It requires a stand in cruiser mode but I don't 'woosh' around my SDF-1 toy either.
