  1. I don't think he's misunderstanding, I think he's just adding a bit of real world flavor to my speculation that ends at approximately the same place. The existence of a gashapon VF-4 in DYRL scheme doesn't really tell us anything about the possibility of a more deluxe toy ever bearing that paint scheme and doesn't indicate that Bandai has any rights locked up or anything like that. I still think that BW doesn't have the rights sorted out themselves and so they can't license it... but that's again just me speculating. I can't think of any other reason why they'd choose not to get ANY money from the license instead of whatever Arcadia would be willing to pay.

I thought we wanted everythign to be Tamashii exclusive so it was easy to preorder.

So is the Glaug next or Focker?

Gaiares! That was the best side scrolling shooter EVERZ. In other news, HLJ just forced me to ship my Hi-Metal R Hikaru so it's on its way. Someday I'll review it...
  5. I'm back in school though! I'll review it... eventually, but I guarantee you'll have seen lots of reviews before then (I'm hoping for a bargain bin pick-up, no preorder here). Man, I'm still working on a Bandai VF-19Advance review that I started months ago

Zip lock baggies, and the smaller hobby variety might do the trick.
  7. You can wait for MP-29O, Shockwave Original Toy Color.
  8. Just watched the first episode, the English subs are much better than the bootleg I watched once upon a time. The video leaves a lot to be desired though. I tried to watch it using VLC the first time but the interlace was so bad it was unwatchable. A second attempt in media player worked much better but still, far from crisp or vibrant.

With them ditching the 1/100 scale being parting of the selling point, that would free them up to make something like Battle7 and just have it be the same size as the other HMR toys... but I wouldn't pin any hopes on it. Is the Quel-Quallie one of the Zentraedi battleships? I don't know about that but a Gnerl, Q-Rau, and Ger would be amazing.
  10. It was a private company so anything is technically possible... but absence evidence to the contrary it seems like a slamdunk shuttering by bankruptcy.
  11. Just got my copy, not sure when I'll have a chance to watch it but looking forward to it.
  12. I think it was the 1/250 scale Gashapon that Bandai did and I wouldn't make any conclusions from that because it's a tiny margin product in a series that includes nearly every conceivable fighter. It doesn't transform so we can't rule out the whole 'those modes weren't finalized and thus aren't included in the license' argument. Since it's part of a series with all the other fighters it seems like Bandai may have worked out a deal with BW that was more about the concept than the individual licenses. Something like "We will pay you X% for a gashapon series covering any and all Macross shows/derivatives for domestic distribution in the 1/250 scale." So the individual cost of the FB license wouldn't have been independently computed and may have only been allowed as more of an oversight... 'cause who thinks of FB when doing those deals? Rampant speculation obviously but I just wouldn't lend that "toy" a lot of relevance. If we see a Hi-Metal VF-4 (OMG fingers crossed) we'll know it's all about the Benjamins.
  13. Yes, it might have been in the "what's next for Arcadia" thread where we discussed that recently. The thinking goes (in no particular order) that one of the following item prevented Yamato and now Arcadia: A) The FB license itself might have some legal question marks in relation to Tatsunoko or any other companies involved and so it just not available (though it's seen life in gashapon) B) There was also a statement at one point that the VF-4 from Flashback doesn't transform and perhaps the developments of the other modes until a later date causes some other licensing issue for a transforming version of the toy. C) The other option is, of course, that BW just wants a lot for a fairly obscure theme but deals the gray scheme out on the cheap so Arcadia is making the more economical decision.
  14. We know 100% sure Delta won't happen for Arcadia, Bandai had already hinted at Delta product.
  15. If they wanted to do that stand they should make the fast packs with that stand in mind (ie, a couple little peg holes for it to attach by). Since the V2 has that plate that goes under the backpack I'd be a little less worried about the strain on the backpack.
  16. Battroid mode is the best looking mode to me but there are some serious issues... but who knows how well this transformation was done. For example, the backpack is sitting way too low but they're on sliders so maybe someone just forgot to slide the sides of the backpack to the proper position? Is there no twist point at the knee? Even Toynami figured that one out. There should also be twist points a quarter down the feet to let the feet camber in but those are missing. As noted by others, there's no neck and the intakes and thighs are too thin. The design of battroid with those two extensions upward is God-awful but that's not Evolution's fault.. though the tabs on top certainly are. I find it funny how glaringly awful that design element is but Kawamori made a similar mistake on the VF-0 series (ie. from any angle you won't be able to see the vehicle's head... and it wouldn't be able to see you). It would have taken at least one hinged part on either side to better conceal the shoulders in fighter mode but at this price that should have been easily done. Somebody said this looks better than the DX V1 VF-25... I think the jury is still out. Does this have an opening cockpit? Will there be a pilot? Do the hips attach to anything in GERWALK mode?
  17. It's not a licensing issue but a differentiation issue. Arcadia was formed as a means of dumping debt, creditors were probably burned. Those creditors can't perceive Arcadia as being the same company, just a company with a founder that happened to buy a lot of Yamato assets... or so I'm apt to believe.
  18. It definitely looks superior to Yamato's V1 1/60 toys.
  19. You won't need it.
  20. Why would you think Arcadia has that license?

No, if they did it it'd be dx presumably.
  22. Yeah, I'd agree, the vf4 is so unique and the hi metals are higher volume so probably easier to catch up with later.
