OOoooh, it glows! The lighting effect looks great - I didn't really notice the difference in flicker rates (I haven't been on any starships lately). I hope to see the rest of it running soon!- MT

Bandai 1/72 fully transform able VF-1 plastic kit for Macross 30th Ann

When you cover up the head in battroid mode it looks better I'm still mulling it over... - MT -
Welcome Edson! I'd just make sure the fans rotate and maybe have removable booster covers. An opening canopy of course would be cool too. Just some ideas. - MT

Thanks Gakken! The weather has been warmer, but now its the humidity. The white trim is done and now the ramp too. I'll have to post some pics. It's taking up HALF my storage closet. I'm seriously thinking of finishing it and selling it. I hate too, but it is too big. My current house (and wife's decorating) don't give me much room. I have the destroids too - just not built up! - MT

(Gang signing a big D), yo, Duplicolor rocks too! If it's Krylon Fusion, others say it sucks (flakes). But Duplicolor or Krylon regular primers are great - as long as they have the special spray nozzle! That's all I use for my models or have used for the last 15 years. - MT

HLJ has LED sets complete with connectors and battery holders. Do they have Radioshack or similar in your neck of the woods? They sell battery boxes with switches and LED's already on them. You could connect additonal LEDs up to the prewired leads. - MT

Looks great 505th! - MT

They came out great!!! Is it just me, or do these guys look like a dance team (minus the tow)? - MT

My favorite and it's easy to get: http://www.krylon.com/products/indooroutdoor-primer/ I build 1/200 and 1/350th scale models and none of the TINY details are lost. This stuff is easy to get, lays down smooth, and the special nozzle (note the picture on the can) puts out a fine mist and can be slightly adjusted too. - MT

Reminds me of the old Cold War photos. The design does look more aggressive and the intake is a nice change! The pilot helps make it believable. - MT

Both my children are young and have watched the Macross TV series. The others they want to watch, but all of them that I have (I don't have M7) have some sort of inappropriate language or content. My daughter will even ask, "dad, is this inappropriate?" Besides, it gives us something to watch later on! My children and I have had some great times watching anime together! Some tasty snacks help too! - MT

Bandai 1/72 fully transform able VF-1 plastic kit for Macross 30th Ann
MechTech replied to Vi-RS's topic in Model kits
Landing gear should be easy and even some rubber tubing for tires. The chin is an easy fix too with some extra styrene and a file (cue Dr. Frankestein maniacal laugh)! - MT -
Thanks Noyhauser for sharing those tips! Those who haven't gotten the Ttrytool sets - you're missing out! I love mine and I just use the stock needle that comes with one of the two (I sharpened it slightly). It's good to see your Yamato coming along. That deck bothers me too. The aftermarket wood deck kits are still from a solid shaved piece of wood so even though they have 1/32" spaced lines, the wood grain comes out funny when you coat it. Micro mark sells some proper decking, but it only goes as small as 1/16" - too wide.

Thanks WM and Nohauser for sharing the tips! That sucks WM! In my case, I'd say to my young son, "here son, go play with this" so at least somebody could enjoy it! I feel for you. I've trashed a few attempts at making parts for my 1/350 Monster. The small parts are a bare to machine! - MT

Bandai 1/72 fully transform able VF-1 plastic kit for Macross 30th Ann

What was this thread about again? Oh yeah, a new model kit coming soon. I second WM's post. Please do a review and fill us in. My son and I are seriously thinking of getting the kit. He's getting an aversion to gluing so hopefully most of it is snap together in Bandai traditon. - MT -
Thanks for sharing guys, this is some cool stuff!!! Shouldn't this be in the modelling section somewhere? - MT

The Tamiya cement is made for styrene and will marr, but not glue ABS, unless you soak it like crazy, then it's no longer a clean seem. PVC, I don't know. That's another plastic when used in models usually needs super glue (CA). - MT

Thanks for pressing on with this despite all the setbacks! That sucks about the delivery guy, but great your supplier is so helpful! Man, 5 gallons! My family doesn't even drink 5 gallons of milk in a week! Pour on man, pour on! - MT

That Zero is coming along nicely! I too like metal finishes on planes. They'e a great opportunity to make plastic look "real." I had a battloid with metal finish on it and a friend went to pick it up and almost threw it! I asked what he was doing and he said, "it looked heavy!" - MT
-
That came out great! The kit size DOES look cool, I just wish I had room for that size of scale. Congrats on a great build! - MT

It will probably be a pain, but doable! I did the Spartan in 1/350th (hopefully getting casted soon) and it was tough getting it all to sit right. It's just a weird (but cool) engineered mecha. Do it right, and it looks cool, align it wrong and it looks lame. You gonna open up the missiles? - MT

If you're looking at other than styrene (or styrene), Plastruct's stuff is good. Use AWESOME ventilations with all of these except the enviromentally safe ones: http://www.plastruct.com/pages/GlueContents.html Another great line. I LOVE their green and SAFE styrene cement. THE BEST decal aids too. They also cary superglue:http://www.microscale.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=FINPROD All of these I've used and reccomend. - MT

Hasegawa 1/72 VF-1 special 30th Anniversary paint scheme by Hidetaka
MechTech replied to Dark_Ghost's topic in Model kits
Cartograf is an Italian decal company that makes EXCELLENT decals for most major modelling companies. Their reputation is so good that they are commissioned on specialty or commemorative models - like this eye buster. It still hurts to look at it! - MT -
Hold off on the vinegar unless you are making salad dressing! The vinegar WILL corrode any metal parts, even brass if allowed to sit, evem in small amounts. Try the window cleaner, I hear it works great. - MT

Great job! There's no school like the old school. Yeah, that kit does have a jacked up nose, but I consider it a trademark for it! - MT
