  1. It does look good, only if a 3D print (you can see the bias marks). The only thing that stuck out to me is that the vertical stabilizers seem extra wide. The rudder area looks good, but the root seems extra wide. No big deal. It's easy to file down vs having to fill holes or other cosmetic surgery prior models needed. I gotta ask, why all the DYRL kits vs the TV versions? Movie, less than two hours. TV show, several hours/days long. Maybe it's a cultural thing? - MT
  2. Gabe - Personally I love the TV version. Let's see, movie was almost two hours. TV series was how many hours/days long? Why does the movie get all the attention? Your model is looking great! Peter - You're gonna have more filler than model It's coming along nicely. I had a friend build a D model (unlit). It didn't look too bad. There's not a lot of parts compared to other models. - MT
  3. Great kitbash!!! She's not very scary looking though. Maybe if she was like 40 feet high and singing J-Pop, then she'd be scary. - MT
  4. This is looking great so far! - MT
  5. Peter - I was going to suggest a version that the Klingons took down, but it looks like you already took that trek. - MT
  6. David - It takes skill to make a 11x11.5x10x10.25 trapezoid in a 11x11x10x10.5 hole... That's some precision numbers there Maybe they're converting from metric to SAE by rounding off Gabe - You're valk is looking clean! Especially with red and white paint together. - MT
  7. Yeah, the blue cement should have been called something other than cement. My friend's mom made him use it. It NEVER cured! Micro Weld has an orange smell, but I can use it in the room with my family when we're chillin in front of the TV. It is the bomb! Peter - Looks like that kit is taking you where "No man wants to go" - MT
  8. MJ - I would also ask in the "What's lying on your workbench" thread too for more feedback. I haven't personally used them, but I hear good things about them from my fellow modeler's club members meeting. I hear some are good and some will clog your airbrush. There are also some good videos out there on how to use them too. Hopefully you get better feedback from our members - MT
  9. I'm with Grayson. I was using that old Testor's stuff since the 70's! Then in the late 80's I worked for the now defunct Hobby Shack and learned about all the Zap a Gap glues and accelerators. Then I learned about Micro Weld (Micro Sol, Micro Set). Their HQ was practically next door! I've been in a holding pattern with both of those glues since. For a great thin cement, you GOTTA try Micro Weld. It's non-toxic, but works as good as or better than solvent glues! It's not like the Testor's Blue tube junk either! - MT
  10. I never noticed that before! Some people are just right hand dominate! - MT
  11. Cross Air - Your build looks like how I wanted mine to look back then Derex - I was going to mention too about you always having "Top Gear" on your computer Peter - Have fun rebuilding that thing! I can't believe they engineered those kits so badly! - MT
  12. Thanks for sharing your collections guys! It's great to some of the kits I've never had a chance to see before. And thank you Christopher B, for compiling the kits list. There are so many! No, the toys guys should not have all the fun! I say that as an avid 40 year model builder of over 40 years! Thanks again! - MT
  13. Looking good! Just don't let this project turn to vapor as many have. - MT
  14. Grayson - It sounds like the remote is not working which I believe is infra-red. Here's an easy check for the transmitter: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00025283 Hopefully it's just a loose connection. If nothing works, the fix is usually a simple loose connection. - MT
  15. Dobber - The X-Wings look awesome! You can almost smell the carbon blasts on the surfaces Peter - I'm teleworking AND going in. What's up with that. At least I get to sleep in some days. The Macross is looking good so far! I wish they had an accurate TV version. Concerning the 1/350th Yamato - Please do share with us about your electronics issues. I've seen that kit and it has lots of moving parts - literally! - MT
  16. Dude, you haven't even cut all the pieces off the sprues. That's unfinished! Maybe we'll bug you about it when you're done!. - MT
  17. I'll help you along Dobber. BUMP!
  18. My apologies, but one of my posts didn't get posted. Peter - As I posted in your main thread, the base looks great! Keeping it as is focuses on the valks. Adding details, weathering and color to the base will incorporate it into the whole scene. I guess it's what end product you want out of it. Pengbuzz - The factory looks awesome! The detail and colors make it pop and stand out. I always wanted to do something like that, but moving all the time for the military made it impossible. I have the kit from decades ago and never fully assembled it. Congrats on a great project! Derex - Your base will make your project a great display piece! Thank you guys, still more work to go on the whole turret. I'm spending more work on the darn turret than the whole ship put together! -MT
  19. Evil scientists laugh - MuuuHaaahaaahaaa! It works! FINALLY, I got an autocap cannon to work AND fit inside the turret properly! I'll post more photos later and make a movie, but there are still adjustments that need to be made so it can elevate inside the turret. Since the cap gun works, I started prepping the turret to accept the hardware and make scale details. The cool part is there is a slow gearmotor to give it more torque. The motor matches the 2-3 rounds a minute of the real MK-45 Mod 4 gun mount adding to the realism. I can't be in the shop all the time, so I busted out a couple of Dunbine models to sit with the family while one of our cats busted out the box. I was looking at possibly converting one into a Bioroid from Southern Cross. After looking at all the models, I realized there is a theme. Not the obvious "Hey, they look like insects." It was that they all have weapons in the crotch! What the heck!?!? To make it worse, they are built on an ABS ball frame with tiny joints that pop off if you look at it wrong. The green one, "Tod Wryneck" is the worst. The Red/orange "Leprechann" isn't so bad. It's too bad because they have the good ole multi-color sprues Bandai is known for. Still don't know about the bioroid. They're gonna need some "surgery" first - MT
  20. Peter - I posted in your main build thread, but the stand looks great! Maybe some weathering would add character to it? Right now, the focus is on the valks, detailing it may help pull it in together. It still looks great though! Pengbuzz - That build came out awesome! The details really make it pop! I always wanted to do something like that, but with moving all the time, it just wasn't going to survive the moves. You pulled it off great! Derex - Your stand looks professional and will compliment your build nicely! I look forward to seeing it completed. - MT
  21. That's a great way to finish off that project! Nice use of Allen wrenches too. The stand is a great touch, congrats! - MT
  22. Buzz looks really cool Derex! That looks like a fun kit too. They did a great sculpt on that kit and colorizing it. - MT
  23. The VF-1S looks nice-n-clean Peter! I love the colors on that too. It just has a great look to it. - MT
  24. Pengbuzz - That looks great, especially cobbled together from bits and pieces! So where's the masking tape on it Duymon - Cool casts of that pilot. Is it just me, or does it look like the Predator character? - MT
  25. Thanks JVMacross! I'm not sure if I have that already, they don't show the cover. Peter - The two right are of course 15th anniversary kits and the VF-1S is 1997. The box art doesn't bring much vs the Imai box art before they folded and Bandai got the molds. The Macross II kit can be hard to find. I would keep them, though re-issues, they're value keeps going up. By the way, the "Revell" Orbot was also my first Macross kit. I got that because it looked cool. Weeks later, Robotech came out on TV and I was hooked! - MT
