That looks awesome! Nice photos and Photo-shopping too! - MT

That looks AWESOME and accurate! I'm trying to figure out if it'a resin or styrene. Either way it would be cool to have. - MT

As long as you have some of the original Macross LP's in there, it's a good excuse! I have some and no turntable I think the Bronco kit was like the original Red Bioroid; just a few produced and no reproductions. If it's in it's original plastic wrap, I wouldn't touch it personally and count it as an asset. Otherwise, I think open kits are fair game for building. It's a double edged sword. They're fun to collect and look at, but then why have a model and not build it? - MT
-
Nope, not training rounds at 100 kg. They just look like it I guess. They're nice and cleanly built though! - MT

Peter - You win "Most masking tape used award!" Probably most tools and screws put into a model too. It's coming along along great! Where does the kitchen sink go now? - MT Pengbuzz - Your crew is looking good! There is a lot of activity going on adding to the realism of the whole thing. Derex - Keep up with the painting! It's looking great! I know that style takes forever. I haven't tried it yet, but the guys in my club say that way takes them several hours just doing watery-thin coats over and over. The layers REALLY add depth. Elecrtric Indigo - I figured those were the old Fitter bombs. Are those practice rounds? They look a lot like it. - MT

Extra cool points for us! - MT

About the SDF-1 - Isn't that sad!? Chas - Are you the winner of the MW owner of the most vinyl records? Nice catch with the Orguss Bronco. That is a rare kit! - MT
-
I STILL think the Robotech (Imai) SDF-1 model is THE BEST TV version - decades later too! - MT

Thanks Slide and TM Bounty Hunter! I believe you are correct. My whole family sat and watched "10 Years with Hayao Miyazaki." It was on PBS or you can watch it online from NHK on Youtube in case anyone missed or never heard of it. That gave some insight as to how big anime movies there are like Disney movies here. Yes, the DYRL versions we got in the States had bad audio/dubbing and video. But it was still cool to be able to see it. I still like the series better personally. - MT

That looks AWESOME! Needs more missiles though! - MT -
Photogirl - Your cars look great! Nice weathering. Looks like my real car always parked under trees! Peter - Now I know where all those screws go that mysteriously fall of my workbench! You have more hardware in that model than plastic now Too bad that's what it takes to get it looking good! Dobber - Your build looks great! I know what you mean about getting decals off center. Sorry! Judging from the innards, your Enterprise Bossard nacelles will look awesome when running. You can safely hot-wire up a 3V battery pack to test everything. That way you'll know if something does not run right. Convectuoso - Your Tornado is looking nice n clean so far! Got out my .35mm mill bit (I'm afraid to even look at it for fear it might break) and worked on the MK-45 Mod 4 barrel. I cut the bolt pattern around the collar and simulated the uneven pattern around it. Then machined slots into the stainless steel slider to simulate the wrench grooves used in removing the actual barrel. Then the fun part was machining the taper into the brass barrel. The muzzle is VERY thin walled. If all works as it has been, the igniting cap's gasses will go out the muzzle for added effect. Attached are what will hopefully look like and what it looks like now LOOSELY fit inside the turret housing. - MT

That's a nice idea! Clean build too! - MT -
It does look good, only if a 3D print (you can see the bias marks). The only thing that stuck out to me is that the vertical stabilizers seem extra wide. The rudder area looks good, but the root seems extra wide. No big deal. It's easy to file down vs having to fill holes or other cosmetic surgery prior models needed. I gotta ask, why all the DYRL kits vs the TV versions? Movie, less than two hours. TV show, several hours/days long. Maybe it's a cultural thing? - MT
-
Gabe - Personally I love the TV version. Let's see, movie was almost two hours. TV series was how many hours/days long? Why does the movie get all the attention? Your model is looking great! Peter - You're gonna have more filler than model It's coming along nicely. I had a friend build a D model (unlit). It didn't look too bad. There's not a lot of parts compared to other models. - MT
-
Great kitbash!!! She's not very scary looking though. Maybe if she was like 40 feet high and singing J-Pop, then she'd be scary. - MT
-
This is looking great so far! - MT

Peter - I was going to suggest a version that the Klingons took down, but it looks like you already took that trek. - MT
-
David - It takes skill to make a 11x11.5x10x10.25 trapezoid in a 11x11x10x10.5 hole... That's some precision numbers there Maybe they're converting from metric to SAE by rounding off Gabe - You're valk is looking clean! Especially with red and white paint together. - MT
-
Yeah, the blue cement should have been called something other than cement. My friend's mom made him use it. It NEVER cured! Micro Weld has an orange smell, but I can use it in the room with my family when we're chillin in front of the TV. It is the bomb! Peter - Looks like that kit is taking you where "No man wants to go" - MT
-
MJ - I would also ask in the "What's lying on your workbench" thread too for more feedback. I haven't personally used them, but I hear good things about them from my fellow modeler's club members meeting. I hear some are good and some will clog your airbrush. There are also some good videos out there on how to use them too. Hopefully you get better feedback from our members - MT

I'm with Grayson. I was using that old Testor's stuff since the 70's! Then in the late 80's I worked for the now defunct Hobby Shack and learned about all the Zap a Gap glues and accelerators. Then I learned about Micro Weld (Micro Sol, Micro Set). Their HQ was practically next door! I've been in a holding pattern with both of those glues since. For a great thin cement, you GOTTA try Micro Weld. It's non-toxic, but works as good as or better than solvent glues! It's not like the Testor's Blue tube junk either! - MT

I never noticed that before! Some people are just right hand dominate! - MT -
Cross Air - Your build looks like how I wanted mine to look back then Derex - I was going to mention too about you always having "Top Gear" on your computer Peter - Have fun rebuilding that thing! I can't believe they engineered those kits so badly! - MT
-
Thanks for sharing your collections guys! It's great to some of the kits I've never had a chance to see before. And thank you Christopher B, for compiling the kits list. There are so many! No, the toys guys should not have all the fun! I say that as an avid 40 year model builder of over 40 years! Thanks again! - MT
