Will the next Macross be the last Macross?
Roy Focker replied to Roy Focker's topic in Movies and TV Series
We get a new series every several years. It is likely that his involvement will decrease after the next series. He'll show up to design some new valks but others will take over. -
Sorry for the clickbait Topic Title. Macross has been going on for nearly 40 years. We consider any Macross that Kawamori has worked on to be canon. He's currently 61 years old. I'm sure there's examples of people in the 70's still working in anime. Many people have retired by then.

I love Indy but he belongs in a 1930's serial. Indy in his 70's in the 1970's could be a good movie but it wouldn't be an Indy movie.

HG and BW reach an agreement (Link included)
Roy Focker replied to Atharun's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
More I think about it there is no "agreement" or to be more correct: Both parties are really just publically acknowledging rights of the other party that was already decided by the courts. The agreement is that they came up with an undisclosed (at this time) price for times when they'll cross into the other parties rights. After 20 years of lawsuits it must have been clear that neither was going to get everything they wanted. Only way to expand to other markets was to cooperate. Now here's a positive. Harmony Gold could always later sell some of its assests. BW now on better terms could buy it back. If Harmony Gold doesn't sell they could decide to become a passive partner with future projects. You'll get more money with an larger investment but I doubt HG has the funds to risk making anything new themselves. Giving creative control of their share of Macross (and other parts of Robotech) to BW and other Japanese production companies for a share of the profits without having to do anywork. That is pretty much what's going to happen if the Robotech live action movie ever gets made. 20 bleeping years! We've all wasted 20 years of our life keeping track and taking sides on this legal argument. Think about what we could have done with all the time and energy we wasted on this. -

That's what I suggested. Business in 2020 couldn't have been that great for either. HG has just been collecting licensing fees. Judging of the size companies paying them I don't think HG is charging top dollar. Meanwhile in Japan they're still milking Delta for all that it's worth. Delta came out 5 years ago. By now they should be making a new series with a new cast of characters and setting. I don't think they want to risk spend money on all new production that will have to win over the fans. Give them a chance to pursue fans outside of Japan and maybe they can raise the funds. I'd like to know the exact nature of this deal. Business in 2020 couldn't have been that good for HG. Can they make money from their theater when large gatherings aren't allowed? When was the last time they made a movie or series? How many people haven't been paying their rent? How much have they've been paying their lawyers? Making a deal with BW for whatever they offer you is better than making peanuts off of a dead property. -

I agree. HG has pretty much abandoned Robotech. Sure they've handed out licence agreements for 3rd parties to make toys and games but they haven't added anything new to continue the story themselves. They can just let Bigwest do all the creative work. My guess is if Bigwest has a new Macross sequel they first have to approach HG and give them the option join in on international distribution. HG can pickup some of the costs for a share profits or do nothing and accept an agreed upon lower fee. -

What's new today? Holy crap! My guess is business hasn't been that good for either company and both saw that they should make a deal. Both acknowledge that the other party has rights and will cooperate in distribution. In other words for decades both could have been making more money but were limited in what and where they could do it. Now they've got a deal for what happens for all those things they make that falls in that grey area of rights. -
What can we expect from a new Macross Series?

Or You can just call them Japanese. -
First thought yesterday after seeing the thumbnail: Is this a parody? First thought today after watching the trailer: Is this a parody?

no3Ljm, You've made well over 15,000 post here. You're not the new to this place. I get it you read something about the Mandalorian and wanted to share it here. When you saw that the Mandalorian thread was locked that didn't give you a clue that maybe something was up? Instead you went ahead and shared it in 2 threads that weren't locked. We have this big no Politics and Religion rule. That thread was closed for review because this rule. Last thing we need right now are members bringing up a sensitive topic while it is under review. I'm asking everyone reading this post not to discuss her firing until we've finished our review.- 1415 replies

And done. Had to increase playback to 1.5x to finish it more quickly. Fun show but the action is bit too much. Every episode they find an excuse for a big fight. It's like watching the A-Team.

This movie is good example of why they should release these movies now instead of keep pushing them back. I was really looking forward to the next Bond film but those rose colored glasses of excitement that would overlook any of the film's flaws was only good for Summer of 2020. After a bunch of delays I'm going to be expecting something that Hollywood can't deliver. None of these films they pushed back a year just to play them in the theater are going to wow me.

A lot of movie with too much plot.

The owner of Pit Viper has major health issues. I think a bad heart. Doctor told him to stop working before he drops dead but continues until he can find a buyer for the business. I think he also said his vision is bad too. He also made a post explaining how he figured out the dimensions for the Macross helmet. Based on inaccurate data even for Robotech. That helmet design was discontinued after the last batch for being too difficult to make.

I was going to try Amazon after the release. I like the 1D but not enough to deal with exclusives pre-ordering. Then I saw the fan racer and I was all in.

I too order from AE. Used a CC but paid as guest via PP. Please don't screw me over! This is going to be pricey after shipping.

The Mandalorian - Star Wars webseries from Jon Favreau
Roy Focker replied to SMS007's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Luke's entire appearance was off. You know they could have also just kept the hood over the double's head and have Hamil do the voice over. We would never get good look at his face but we'd all know by his voice that this is Luke. Hamil's performance seem off too. His lines were very simple and almost, emotionless. Maybe he suppose to be in a super calm peaceful Jedi Master state. I watched it and think maybe his performance was limited by technology. Boba should had been in the room. I wanted him ready to take his revenge on Luke and then he'd start crying like a baby when Mando was telling Baby Yoda to go with Luke.- 1438 replies

The Mandalorian - Star Wars webseries from Jon Favreau
Roy Focker replied to SMS007's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I don't think this season was that good. Sure it had good moments and cool scenes. Overhaul I think it was more a vehicle to showcase all the possible spin offs. First season had many self contained episodes and occasional there was an episode that advanced the plot. Season finale ended with the hero having met the series villain and taking the quest to return baby Yoda to the Jedi. Second season Mando was a supporting character to a series of visiting fan favorites. There was 8 episodes with an average running time of 30 minutes each. That's enough time for 4 hour long movie. I think a lot of it was wasted on world building for the spin off series.- 1438 replies
