  1. can i share a couple? after watching that very old episode, I don't think 1st gen VFs are even remotely as challenging as a bred-to-fight Zent soldier in a "fair fight" (the weakness being the pilot, not the machine)
  2. Seto, you mentioned in the Battletech Clanners thread that there are no true black hats in Macross. Is this group in AL!!!!!! used as a Macross Grey hat, like all other protagonists in the Macross series? I also find it hilariously ironic: Heimdall is a political group (from the Lyran Commonwealth faction of Battletech) that exists to serve as a check to any excesses of Loki, the Lyran Commonwealths official secret police Heimdall (organization) - BattleTechWiki (sarna.net) Is there a concise review of this movie, front to back? Google... actually is useless on this subject.
  3. That's actually a common theme in Battletech (or any fictional setting) but you are kinda wrong. The Zentradi, in general, are a reoccurring threat (often only mentioned in passing or implied) as well as the Anti-UN (later known as General Galaxy). What Macross lacks, compared to, say, Star Wars, is it's Palpatine and Darth Vader; Micronauts's Baron Karza; Stefan Amaris or The Word of Blake faction from Battletech. It's never gone particularly political, mostly because it was a japanese IP meant to sell toys and model kits. Yes, SW & BT/MW sell figurines/minuatures too but both settings have far more political polish than Macross ever had... Now i dont know if that's good or bad...
  4. Wait? Whut? The Clans are supposed to be all Black Hat wearing A**holes (save Clan Wolf, who wear very fashionable GREY hats, per Stackpole Fiat as i understand). You want to even try to interduce Battletech story concepts into the Macross extended universe? *cracks knuckles* I'll just let TEX, from the Black Pants Legion explain the Inner Sphere (and everything else). WARNING: pROFAnity is used, liberally. (185) BattleTech 101: The Great Houses of the Inner Sphere - YouTube (185) Battletech/Mechwarrior Lore : The Amaris Civil War / Collapse of Star League - Part 1 - YouTube (185) Battletech/Mechwarrior Lore : The Amaris Civil War / Collapse of Star League - Part 2 - YouTube Seta is extremely accurate (and i'm shocked that he's familiar with the setting). The only way a UNS/NUNS society could develop a direction tangent equal to what The Clans requires a story macguffin: a misfold into the past. Even then, you need at lot of things to happen... Actually that idea would be funny: A society based on Destroids?
  5. He wants to be the next Capt Neeter (or something Imperial Officer). That's why his ambition is so wet, it drips. That's why he's such an asshat. Now that Box that Seto bashes as unimportant will be important because what have we NOT seen yet in 3 episodes so far? actual IMPs. Kassa is so unimportant to the Empire (that means Safe, as far as the Empire is concerned) that they subcontract their security requirements to rent-a-cops. That box (the Macguffin for this story) is what gets actual IMP interest (that is, why the Vamp Imp chick from the promos shows up presumably in Esp 4 or later).
  6. +1000. One thing never depicted was minor defects (unless the plot required it, examples being when Kakazaki had hull damage and was ordered to RTB or What's his face from Delta going excessive on his maneuvering propellant in Delta), really nothing storywise in dealing with the background maintenance. The stories also never dove into details like squadrons (names, numbers, airwings, etc), all of that is fandom speculation, save a small number (Pink Peckers, anyone?) There is some use to having a variable fighter on your inventory (how many F-14s can reach lower earth orbit?) but like Seto said, maintaining that asset would be excessive, in terms of parts manufacturing, the materials used in crafting, the training devices*, the GSE involved (which might be specific to the VF only thus a space sink on a carrier)... * because the variable nature of the machine, you would need to either build a fake city in order to be able to train Urban Combat as a curriculum or forcibly remove civilians from a city zone (Rhode Island? EVERYBODY needs to move out of state, NOW).
  7. I do NOT see auralnauts being a Disney thing. ALL of the stuff auralnauts has done is very College-themed (and rightfully, hilarious so)
  8. There was a Legacy Hornet Driver, during either the 08 or '10 Ike Cruise, that I seen on one of the birds: callsign 'Blitch'. Because of what I did in the Navy, although I will enjoy the planes (very much so), I'll be the one looking for SE. Literally everything that I would look for, has been replaced in the past 12 years (A-31Bs Tugs-> A-49s; A-3 (CYLOP'd NC-2A GPUs) -> Don't know its MIL Spec #; P-25 Fire truck -> P-25A (You can't tell the difference outside of its TEC, the 25A has a different motor and Front End)... But I'm a nerd. NASWOGS!!!
  9. I've watched two eps so far... and they work for me. Now, on Pike knowing his fate. They have only shown him in the chair (so he at least knows that much) but does he know about the Talosian aspect of his fate? If yes, will we see him making a pack with Spock to ensure things go as planned? or does the Taloians only come into play after their planet is discovered? that begs another question: Will they recreate, as a episode, the events that occurred in the TOS pilot episode in 1965?
  10. It's been discussed that UN Spacy (and NUNS) policy when it comes to any unaligned Zentradi Fleet is to either flee or utterly destroy it. I have another idea... Why cannot an Emigrant fleet Claim to be The Protoculture and give the encountered fleet new orders (or more specifically, orders that either amend their existing orders or add to them)?
  11. I've been following this channel for a fat minute, utterly intrigued in his interest in 70's Super Mecha Kaiju... and then he drops this nuclear device of LOVE... I've asked him to do the Shogun Gun warriors (the Marvel Comics property from the 1970-80's) as well as Red Ronin (which was also featured in the Marvel comics version of Godzilla in the 1970s and 80s). Now he already did each Shogun unit (as their original Japanese versions) but now he did this.... and from the moment it started, i weeped the tears of an Otaku... Tis Beautiful, is it not?
  12. Use spoiler tags, please but someone explain to me, what is depicted in this scene?
  13. I did not recognize any of those 'Journalism links' but i only watched the trailer , looking for TrekMovie (whom i know is very much a shill site on ST's teet...)
  14. I'm more interested in how the fleets themselves start to become competitors (aka moar Civil Wars please)
  15. It's there already a dude who does Pitch Meetings (with the HUGE eyes in his thumbnails)?
  16. Nemesis was in 2002. There was a sh*t ton of books dealing with post Nemesis events prior to JJT 2009. Did the books (the ones still going the main Post-Nem timeline) fill in the blanks after 2009's split of the timelines? Now PICy and STDs entries... pretty much trumps the books (and ignores them) and that's why the stories suck? Ultimately, was the reason the show runners of STDs and PICy did not plan their stories based on existing Book materials (or even STO) because in doing so, they might have to pay royalties to the books?
  17. It has been EONS since i watched this with my Brother. Wasn't A-Ko supposedly Superman and Wonder Women's first (or second born)? That's why she's so HYPER in that series... again, from what i vaguely recall...
  18. When my wife taught me how to use the Roku in our room, i started watching, first, the Mando, then Lower Decks, then Book and now, Prodigy. I actually liked both anime Treks (I vaguely recall, my dismissiveness of the concepts but i blame my opinions of STD and Piccy), actually being shocked that i did enjoy those shows... I'm still loath on the idea of even watching STD, however. maybe, eventually i will but not now...
