1. All 1/48s come with the style 1, DYRL "chicken hands" that fold inside the forearms so that perfect transformation is possible. The style 2, DYRL "robot hands" only come with the GBP. They look good with the armor, but are a bit big on a naked valk. They will not fit inside the forearms, but hold the gunpod well. The style 3, TV "fat hands" come with the non-FAST Pack Stealth VF-1J as well as the Super/Strike Stealth. They also come with the three 1J Super valks, the non-FAST Pack TV Hikaru 1J, and the 1A Cannon Fodder. They also will not fit inside the forearms, but hold the gunpod better than the chicken hands. Some of the members here have made custom DYRL style robot hands that hold the gunpod better and look way better than the chicken hands, but I'm not sure if they're still available. I believe it was Eternal D, but I'm not 100% sure. Also, he, Neova, and nightmareB4macross are in the process of making more custom hands. These may be style 2 recasts or something altogether different - I don't know. Here's a link you may be interested in. Here's another from Neova. You could also PM them for more details. Oh, and welcome to Macross World.
2. Thank you for the kind words, Veritas. Yeah, they turned out pretty well (a little overspray here and there that I scraped off with an X-acto knife), but they're still a far cry from the work of some of our much more talented members. Kakizaki is just a simple rattle-can repaint job and Max is a wing and head swap with a little hand-painting of the arrows on the head. One of these days I'll try my hand at a total repaint, but for now these are a nice addition to my collection.
3. I got bored, so I made a couple of half-assed customs from a Roy 1S and a Max 1A. I still need to apply some decals and fill in the panel lines, but I'm too lazy for that right now. Enjoy.
4. The world's population of head lice was wiped out during the Unification Wars, so hair length was no longer a concern for the military.
5. There's seomthin' strange... In the neighborhood... Who ya gonna call? ZETA OTAKU! 397161 LOL! That's awesome! Back on topic, my 1/48 Low-Viz are the most expensive items in my collection. I was late to the party so I ended up paying a bit more than I would have preferred ($300 average). But hey, I got 'em and at least I didn't have to pay the outrageous pricetag they now command.
6. Can you post a pic? That would probably help us figure out what exactly is going on. I would definitely recommend not cutting anything until we can see the problem.
7. I think the valks were more of a navy blue/black color, with a black diamond around the canopy, and a red band on the left wing. I'll see if I can find the picture for you. 396222 Is this what you're looking for?
8. I think the kneecap covers are what's loose; not the actual knee joint itself. At least that's how I interpret it. In the pic below, they're opened all the way, so maybe they are loose.
9. Absolutely stunning! Wow, you even put the decals on the nukes! I never tire of seeing your customs! Keep up the great work, Kurt!
10. The box-art pic that Arthurius posted earlier shows skulls on the tailfins. However, that still doesn't really answer your question since they could be stickers. It does seems kind of odd that the tailfins would have skulls, but not the heatshields. Personally, I would prefer no skulls since we've already got the whole DYRL line and the LV1 that have them. Hey Yamato, not every valk is in the Skull Squadron! How about some different graphics for a change!
11. Some of the guys here have used Krylon Fusion and Plastikote on their customs with pretty good results. Here is the link for that. Here is another. The major problem is that the colors are pretty limited, but they tend to hold up better to transformations than do normal paints.
12. Damn, that's a sharp-looking valk! I only ordered one, but I think I'll break down and get at least one more! Thanks to all for the awesome pics!
13. Yes, the Stealth is available with both Super and Strike Parts, and the packaging is freaking huge. Of course, you can also get it as a stand-alone valk, but I think the Strike setup is the way to go.
14. I'd only watch it if it was AlienVsPredatorVsTerminatorVsRobocopVs.HighlanderVs.SethBrundle... cuz that would make it totally 80's... to the max! 394021 What!? No Pumpinhead in that mix!? LOL!
15. Yeah, that's a model. You can tell by the fact that it doesn't have the chicken hands.
16. Hudson Hawk? Oh, you mean the black mark on Bruce Willis' career! LOL! I couldn't sit through it even once!
17. I was a member of another forum that had an off-topic section and experienced the same kind of stupid topics you mention. Sadly, the mods there didn't seem to care and almost never closed any of them. Probably the worst part was that political and religious arguements raged on until it turned into a big name-calling fest that reminded me of little kids on the playground screaming, "My dad could kick your dad's ass!" It quickly became chaos and I left, and never looked back. Personally, I don't care if we have some topics that aren't really "Other Anime/Sci-Fi"-related. If I have no interest in them, I don't read them. And I certainly don't waste my time and others' by posting in them. But I do think it would be a mistake to have an official "Off-Topic" section. That could potentially create a lot more problems than it would solve.
18. I'd go with the re-issues, unless you really like having the wing flaps and nose cones fall off every time you transform them.
19. How about The-Miami-Vice-Motion-Picture-Ruined-By-A-Present-Day-Setting-And-Piss-Poor-Casting? Well, maybe that's a bit too long to fit on a marquee. Maybe Michael Mann's Miami Mess would be better.
20. Yeah, that's about all they're really worth. The toys themselves kinda suck, but the boxes do look nice displayed between the bookends. Still, I would recommend you save your money and put it toward a Yamato 1/48 instead. You definitely won't be disappointed with the 1/48s, but they are a bit pricey. Keep an eye on the "For Sale" section here. You can usually find better deals than what you see on eBay.
21. If Yamato did that, they couldn't legitimately call it LE and it would only piss off those of us who paid a bit more than we wanted to for ours. Personally, I don't have a problem with "this outrageous camo freak" because at least it's something new and different.
