  1. I think i've seen one in Force of Arms. Before they blew up Bodolza's fortress....there was one sticking out ofthe hatch with the other missiles. 405564[/snapback] There are also some in "Viva Maria."
  2. I don't have the LV2 yet, but my Stealth has the regular scooped-out headrest seat that replaced the old-style flat headrest years ago. I don't see any other changes to it besides the color it was molded in.
  3. Okay, I let the paint set up for several days and decided it was finally time to transform these two and take some pics. Sorry, some of them came out a little blurry since I let my camera's batteries get too low before replacing them, but they're good enough for now. I did notice a very small amount of wear on some the little nubs and pegs when I transformed them back into Battroid mode, but it's barely noticeable and definitely not worth the effort to retouch them. Anyway, here's the pics. Enjoy.
  4. The first one's pretty hot. The second one isn't all that great, but hey...
  5. I think the Alaska Base valks had the same paint scheme as Max and Kakizaki, only with dark green instead of blue or tan. They're shown so briefly that I don't really remember for sure.
  6. As far as I can tell, the Animeigo and ADV sets have the same restored footage. They both look the same on my TV and are leaps and bounds above the grainy, dull colors of Homotech.
  7. From the little I've seen, they are almost identical, but there are some very minor differences. For example, the line in the Animeigo set reads, "We will now present an aerobatics demonstration performed by our newest, most powerful Valkyrie fighters." The ADV line reads, "We will now present an aerobatics demonstration performed by the newest, most powerful of fighters: the Valkyrie!" See, nothing major. Just a little bit of difference in the way some of the lines are phrased. I'd check more, but frankly I bought the ADV discs for the sole purpose of not having to read the subtitles.
  8. Yes, they also have Japanese language with English subtitles. I've checked the first few minutes from the first episode and the subtitles aren't exactly the same as the Animeigo ones, but they're pretty damn close. Thankfully, they aren't just subs of the new English dialogue.
  9. Here's the link to the 1/48 GBP review. While it does cost almost as much as the valk alone, I think it's well worth it because of the sheer amount of detail Yamato put into it.
  10. The TV VF-1J Hikaru was just re-released when the 1/48 GBP was introduced, so there should be plenty of both available for a while. You can enjoy the valk by itself, but if you buy the armor alone you won't be able to do anything with it until you buy the valk.
  11. Great work as usual, Kurt. But I gotta say that is one ugly, though unique, paint scheme. I think it would look a helluva lot better as just a Low-Vis tiger stripe without the orange.
  12. The legs aren't supposed to be glued into place, but I've never seen them loose enough to just fall out on their own. That's kinda scary since there's a lot of paint on the Stealth legs which could chip or scratch if it hit something hard enough. Sorry to hear about all the problems you're having with yours, roboto.
  13. Thanks, nightmare. In the anime there are no black bands on the arms and legs, but I took a little artistic license and added them. I think it brings a little something extra to their look since they're a bit bland without them.
  14. First off, thanks to everyone for the kind words. It's been quite some time since I've done any sort of modeling or customization, so it's really encouraging to receive your praise. Thanks again. On that note, my TV Kakizaki is now done, but I figured it was better to simply post in this thread again rather than start a new one. This is another rattle-can custom using Krylon Fusion Satin Khaki. The best part about this color is that I didn't need to spray a matte clear coat on it since it's already pretty dull. Again, I've only got a few battroid pics for now since I don't want to transform it until the paint sets up for a few more days. If anyone hasn't tried Fusion, I'd definitely recommend it - especially for simple jobs like this. Oh, and just in case anyone gets the impression that I'm some sort of valk-customizing-machine since I whipped out these two so quickly - I can assure you that I'm not. I had disassembled, stripped, and prepped both of these at the same time, so everything was already taped off and ready for paint when I started. Not to mention the fact that there's really not that much work involved in making these two. But enough talk; onto the pics. Hope you like it.
  15. Wow, that turned out really nice! Great job, GutsAndCasca! The only thing I would do differently is to put a matte finish on it since it's a bit glossy right now. Other than that, it looks awesome. One day I'll be brave enough to try something like that.
  16. Well, here it is. It came out pretty well considering it's a rattle-can job. I still need to add a few more markings and do some panel-lining on the blue, but I'm waiting for the paint to set up a bit longer. That's the same reason why I've only got battroid pics - if I scratch up the paint during transformation right now, I'll lose my mind. I wanted to wait until it was 100% complete before posting, but I just couldn't because I really dig this paint scheme. I used Krylon Fusion Patriotic Blue and then laid down a few coats of matte finish clear coat to cut down on the glossiness. I've gotta say, I really like the Fusion, but they need to make more colors. Oh, and I've got to give a major shout-out to haterist for the Brasso and steel wool trick to remove the original paint. It works like a charm. Thanks, hater! You saved me the hassle of having to do a total repaint! Anyway, here's a few pics. Enjoy.
  17. To quote Yoda, "You will be... you will be."
  18. Since I'm a big Stargate SG-1 fan, I have to mention the Asgard's O'Neill-class battleship. Yes, I know it's a bit of a rip-off of Star Trek's Klingon and Romulan ships, but hey, that's what you get when one of the show's producers is a huge Trek fan.
  19. Well that kinda sucks. Talk about taking the cheap route. Why not mold a new antenna in a matching color? They did it for the Max and Millia 1Js, the original Low-Vis, and the Stealth, so why not this time around? Maybe Yamato has a surplus of white antennae lying around or something? Or maybe this really is just a repaint of the CF? Those have white antennae, but at least it matches the white on the valk itself. I guess that's enough ranting for now. While I think it's a poor color choice, it's not enough to keep me from buying this bad-boy. Besides, if I can live with that toxic-puke-green-color on the shoulders, arms, and chest of the GBP version 2, a white antenna on a camo valk is pretty minor.
  20. That's the Low-Vis pilot, not the VF-0 pilot.
  21. Yamato does not sell the TV fat hands separately. They've been recast by a few members here, but I don't know if they are currently available.
  22. Short answer: Yes, they are crap. Long answer: The stock Yamato stickers are quite thick and stick out quite a bit when compared to those made by Anasazi37 and takatoys. Plus, you really can't get the stock stickers down into panel lines and the small details on the Yamato sheet tend to be kind of fuzzy and out of focus. I don't use Yamato stickers on any of my valks unless it's absolutely necessary. It's definitely worth the money to buy the aftermarket ones.
  23. I haven't tried the AAM-1s, but on mine the micro missile pods fit tightly while the nukes are pretty loose. I've swapped them around to all the hard points and still have the same results. Oh well, it's still my new favorite in the 1/48 line.
  24. I agree, but I think the skulls are just stickers. The one on the heatshield is for sure, but if you look really close the ones on the tailfins appear to be as well. You can just barely see the outside clear part along the edge of the sticker. Or maybe I'm just seeing things.
  25. I got none of those defects except maybe no.4. I took it off and tried to put it back in but for the life of me, can't understand why it won't go in all the way, leaving a big gap. I pushed the radome all the way down, and apparently that was causing the nose cone not to enter properly , if the radome is in its normal position. Maybe you can try that. Its probably due to imperfections of the nose cone mould cause when i see the inside of the nose cone, the plastic looks a tad warped. As in not perfect. Mine have the same problem. Like wolfx said, the inside of the nosecone is a little bit off. It looks like the notches on the sides aren't lined up properly, so it doesn't fit quite right. But with the radome pushed all the way down, it does fit better and leaves less of a gap. It's still not perfect, but it's so minimal that it doesn't detract from the overall beauty of the Stealth.
