  1. Don't blame the writers, B & B wrote These Are The Voyages not them. Well, all the same, whoever wrote Big E, whether "B & B" or the writer of the SW Holiday Special all these seasons, killed the show! All freakos!
  2. That's exactly what I was expecting [Federation founding]. All these (Enterprise) characters had potential. It's too bad we had writers who had their heads up their a**es who did the show. Again, I love my TNG characters, but it was lame making them steal the thunder from the Big E characters. Every other Trek finale did okay without help from the other incarnations.
  3. Man, I knew there was a reason I drifted away from watching Enterprise. The finale was pure B.S. I like CDR Riker and Deanna Troi, but come on! this ain't their show. They [writers] really screwed the pooch on this one by making it a TNG ep. Like Ms. Jolene Blalock of shooting the final ep, "It's apalling." Exactly what we got!
  4. LoL! I always imagined Mace Windu cursing when mauling a couple of droids or when he confronting Tyrannus/Dooku, "Party's over Mutha f***a!"
  5. Is this for real? Someone who actually has talent and clout and sci-fi cred wants to save trek? Not those B&B hacks? If it's true, Paramount should be calling him right about.....now. It's probably wishful thinking and with the politics in the studios, it's a long shot.
  6. Like I posted earlier, that "Seven of Nine" effect don't do you anygood if you have a poorly written story. It's sad what's happening to Trek. Again, maybe it's time for another hiatus.
  7. WHY OH WHY is it that the prequels of the most popular science fiction franchises aren't fairing so well? I personally enjoyed the Star Wars prequels (and can't wait for the final one). As you know, a lot of SW fandom don't share my optimism or take it at face value like I do. I'm a big Trek fan too. But the writers are what is killing ( or should I say have killed) the "Big E." Either someone's run out of ideas, the fans expect more or both!
  8. Maybe it's time for another Star Trek hiatus. Hell, it won't hurt it (it didn't from 1969 to '79). Hiatus has worked for Star Wars. (True, they [prequels] can never "live up" to the original trilogy, and half the SW fandom, don't like the prequels, but at least they're not as horrid as whatever is happening to the ST franchise.)
  9. I like Ms. Blalock, but the problem is, someone thought the "chick in the cat suit" (ala 7 of 9 of the last series) deal is what draws viewers, WRONG ANSWER! Chicks in catsuits and great special effects should only be frosting on the cake. The writers are the ones that make or break the stories. It's too bad that this [Enterprise] one might die a painful death. That's not a very pleasing way to go.
  10. no it doesnt have the deleted scenes re-added i myself would have wanted to see the supposed scene where luke is on dagobah training and slices up trees, etc. You're kidding, right? What's the matter, George too stingy about us seeing those lost treasures?
  11. It's about friggin' time! I was expecting that to happen with the Episode V Special Edition back in 1997. Finally! Anyone know if the extras will contain all (if not most of) the scenes that ended up on the cutting room floor? It would be nice to see Luke "Wormy" Skywalker with his pals at Anchorhead and what they were like. Or see the Snowtroopers get mauled by the captured wampa!
  12. err, several of the launch sequences from the opening show tomcats with NH (CAW-11, then stationed on the big E) stenciled on the tailfins.. and then it mentions the USS Enterprise- "present day" (early 1980s) the actual planes that flew in their place at Miramar may have actually been that, but during the opening part of the movie, Maverick is from the VF-213 Black Lions. What's more, all missile shots filmed in the final dogfight were done by the VF-114 Fighting Aardvarks (IIRC they had JUST given up their nose-stripes), you can again plainly see the "NH" and "VF-114" in several shots. Not that we should really be giving this any great deal of thought... TopGun certainly doesn't work very hard to be consistent in their action footage. That's affirmative on the CVW-11 a/c being shown in "Top Gun." I think they were stock footage shot by both the Navy and the producers Actually CVW-15 was with the U.S.S. Carl Vinson CVN-70 at the time (also one of three carriers used in the movie!). And VF-1 was with CVW-2 with Ranger.
  13. Unlikely, but not impossible. When they designed the F4H-1/F-4 Phantom II back in the fifties, I'm sure they said the samething. Hell, they designed it without an internal gun! Boy were they wrong a few years later in Vietnam! Lo-viz isn't just for the fighter roles, but for the attack roles aswell. As the Blue Angel narration says, "Now that Blue Angels five and six has got your attention, you have witnessed the ability of a small aircraft to enter a target area virtually UNDETECTED." Sure it's nice blue paint and going real fast, but imagine that in lo-viz? It will be too late before you notice. Yes, it would be nice to be nice to see those gray and white Navy birds once again, but tactical reasons will make that unlikely.
  14. Negative, the movie you are referring to is 1980's "The Final Countdown" where the Nimitz traveled back to December 1941. VF-84 was featured in the movie. VF-41 was shown briefly too. See above. Also "Top Gun" was 1986.
  15. You gotta be kidding me! Don't tell me this is another Political Correctness issue like it was for the Playboy bunny being painted on VX-4 F-14s and one of the Marine VMAQ squadrons .
  16. So who's going to be the east coast FRS for the Super Bug? No ne? Will VFA-122 be handling all Super Bug quals?
  17. Thanks, I forgot all about that. I don't remember them on the CV/CVN scenes though. I do however remember the Miramar flight scenes now that you've refreshed my memory. It was right before Maverick crashed his F-14. I can guess the Black Lion "formula." The first exterior scene of Mav and Goose's F-14 shows a modex (nose) number of "203." The Black Lions at the time were the 200 series for CVW-11 off the Enterprise and the styling (font) of number is consistent with the VF-213 A/C of the time (mid-80's). you figured me out.... and as "Cougar" was ghostrider "one one seven", he would've had to have been a part of the "fighting aardvarks" Another trivia, for most of the Miramar and Fallon scenes, the A/C were from VF-51 and VF-111 of CVW-15.

  19. Good point. Hell, Supes has been in live action far too many times. I like Supes, but some other hero needs to take a shot in the (live action) spotlight that hasn't been re-done to death.
  20. Since that page didn't seem to have what "V" stood for, I'll post it here. "V" became the Navy/USMC designation for fixed wing aircraft. (They couldn't use "F" or "FW" because it would probably cause confusion, especially since "F" was already taken!) The other letters (again from the site) designated what type of A/C (i.e. F = Fighter, A = Attack). Very true. Just FYI, the real VF-1 wasn't featured in "Top Gun." At least not its insignia. The insignia in the movie was from a propeller driven E-2 Hawkeye squadron! Unfortunately, the real VF-1 Wolfpack flew into the sunset eleven years ago during the Drawdown of the nineties.
