  1. MacrossWorld could eliminate 24 of the 25 forums and there still would not be a Free For All forum. It's not a matter of space, Shawn simply does not want that type of forum anymore.
  2. Kishimoto, you are da man when it comes to cardboard!
  3. The philippines Macross dub is an altogether different animal. The characters names were not even the same as the U.S. Robotech. I also have all of the Perfect Collection, and none of their RT episodes differ from the previous VHS, LD, and DVD releases. While I only visit RT.com infrequently, I've never seen clips of this nature. It's possible I just have had bad luck. Since I haven't seen solid proof showing otherwise (notwithstanding HG reps, since we know how honest they are), I still believe it's nothing more than a retcon job. Not necessarily a bad thing, especially if they pull it off well. I just think HG/ADV are trying to avoid people percieving it as a retcon job due to the whole George Lucas fiasco. Oh yeah, the audio is supposed to be DD 5.1. Now, is this going to the same old dual-mono DD track, or are we finally going to see a true stereo release?! edit: syntax
  4. As a Robotech fan, I'm pleased to see a remastered version of the series. I am also glad that I never bought the DVD's (got the LD's). Anyways, I wonder how accurate Bateman's above statement is. For well over the past decade, I've been following Robotech's closely, read up on it as much as possible, and even spent a couple of hours talking with Dennis Bateman on the subject. Yet, this is the *first* time I have heard that there was a "previous cut" of Robotech (excluding the dubbed Macross). I can see how the dubbed Macross included violent scenes, since it was meant to be an OAV (note that te Macross footage cannot be re-used since the characters had different names and music). But Robotech was concieved as a public broadcast from the get-go, I find it hard to believe that HG would dub the violent scenes, then say "oops, we forgot, this is for TV." Either the people working at Harmony Gold were completely incompetent, or Tom Bateman is playing us for fools. More than likely, this is a retcon job by HG and ADV, similiar to what George Lucas did with the Star Wars Special Editions. Now this brings two complications: - HG/ADV are going to need to rescore the scenes with the extended/added footage. - HG/ADV are going to need to re-dub the new scenes. While this sounds doable, I wonder how smoothly these scenes will flow with the old footage. We've all scene what a diseaster the SW SE's movies were, I hope ADV and HG try their best to avoid this. One thing I'd like to see is HG go back and fix all the continuity errors, specifically the years and dates.
  5. Sally Ford sure does have an interesting "bulge". Is this how all hentai is? Or is Mac7 special or something?
  6. Ahh yes, even more mmcafe lurkers. What this site needs is a MW vs MMcafe tournament, for sheez!! I have to give SNKP props for overhauling the gameplay. Lots of people, myself included, absolutely love the KoF system. But I can't deny that the system is definitely dated. We'll see how this team of rookies (remember, SNKP is NOT SNK) handles the transition, best of luck. Heh, 1 second delay between tags. Who says cartridges don't have load times, SNKP pulls a Capcom!! *coughSFA3forSNEScough*
  7. Cool, Gato's also in it. I like how Garou is slowly being integrated into KOF. Before long, we won't even need a Garou 2 Hmm, no Psycho team.
  8. Encasing the tabs in super glue might help. Just make sure to remove all the other hinges first so the backpack won't end up being glued in one position. It won't be pretty, but it might get the job done.
  9. Here are my two favorites: Arnie makes a hair appointment. Tries to book a motel room.
  10. Awesome work! Put me down for a set of custom stickers!
  11. Aside from being ported to XP, are there any emulation improvements? Neorage is a frickin fast emu, but it lacks a lot of the improvements that neogeo emulation has seen in the past 3 years.
  12. Could we see a comparison pic between your custom DYRL decals and the stock versions? I'd definitely be interested either way, but I'd prefer stickers. *runs away from angry model masters*
  13. Still waiting for NeoRageX to be updated. Three years and counting.
  14. Hehe, it's cool, I just figured some unexpected work came about. Happens to me all the time.
  15. Awesome stuff, Shawn! I love old Japanese toy commercials! I can't believe you actually have these old episodes on Beta, straight from the 80's! That's what I call hardcore!
  16. MacrossJoe, if you need a replacement piece for your 1/60, I'm selling some in the For Sale forum.
  17. The PS2 Gameshark V2 for PS1 works with original imports. It booted up Macross VFX perfectly.
  18. I'd say it's definitely an intentional misspelling. It fits in perfectly with Kawamori's love for bad puns. Destroyed = Destroid Maguro (tuna)= Ma-ku-ross (Macross) and most recently... Bulky Lee = Valkyrie
  19. The Legioss project is dead. I think what Milkman was trying to say is that people always seem to ask what happened to the Legioss project. And each time, the replies I read seem to get farther and farther from the truth. If that thread wasn't pinned, in five years we'd be reading that HG sent a hit squad to Moscato's house to break his hands and destroy his Legioss molds.
  20. This is what I always believed in too. Unlike the tv series, Hikaru, Max, and Kakizaki are all pretty much equally ranked. Out of the three, I'd say Max is definitely more deserving of the role of Skull leader. Up until the final battle with Bodolza, Hikaru's just a punk.
  21. Is it at all possible that Millia's Taka valk is lighter due to age? After all, it's nearly a 20 year old toy.
  22. Now that is surprising. With the OT having the highest demand, I figured Lucas would've released that *last* in order to squeeze every last drop out of SE releases. Maybe all the bitching has finally begun to sink in Lucas' head. So where's the super-uber-all 6 episodes box set?
  23. The skull does look slightly crooked, but then again it appears the backpack isn't perfectly aligned with the horizontal plane either. All Tamim needed to do was press down a little more on the backpack. But, if the skulls are indeed misaligned, it's hardly noticable and I can live with it.
  24. Woohoo! Rubber pilots all the way! The old pilots struck me as too brittle and I was afraid that the legs would snap. Even though I'll be passing on this release, I'm just glad that the reissue Roy will (hopefully) recieve the same improvements.
  25. Whoah, you know what I want? Psychics do exist! Bandai went down the same route with their 1/55 repaints and head swaps. If the theory you describe: "squeeze more money out of what they've already invested in" is accurate, then one must wonder why Bandai dropped a guaranteed "cashcow" like the 1/55. After all, Bandai's over-head expenses must have been significantly less than Yamato's. All Bandai did was restore the old Takatoku molds and add a few minor enhancements. Yamato, on the other hand, had to spend money on R & D and create an entirely new and complex toy from scratch. Yes, and what exactly happened to the the 1/60 VF-1 upgrade parts? Again, if your profitable theory of "squeeze(ing) more money out of what they've already invested in" is foolproof, then the upgrade parts should have been a profitable venture. I believe that repaints can be profitable if the toyline is popular in mainstream culture, like Gundam and Transformers. But Macross is a niche market, and it would be presumptious to assume that the business practices of mainstream toys are guaranteed to work for niche toys.
