Avengers: Infinity War - in theaters April 27, 2018
kalvasflam replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I personally hope they are willing to do a pay off at the end of avengers four, and kill Tony, Cap, and may be Thor and Hulk. A nice way to tie off the first three phases of MCU. They have more than enough materials to go on moving ahead, and it's time for Spiderman to grow up, there is no more need for daddy figure, and Cap need to take a permanent breather (too many language problems). -
Disney or Comcast buys Fox or Fox wants to sell to someone
kalvasflam replied to Old_Nash's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
honestly, without net neutrality, Sideshow Bob will just start making deals to get access to pipes. Besides, if Comcast truly does that to Disney, you can bet the Justics.e Department will come right in.. You can throttle the little guys, it's much harder to throttle the big guy without getting a bunch of lawyers in your face. -

Wait, if that's the case, why are you cheering on Comcast. You can ignore Sideshow Bob and his wares. But if you're in certain parts of the country, you really can't ignore Comcast unless you cut the land line cord, and tether everything off of the phone. -

Not anything that fancy, remember some of the AMRAAMs on the F-22 have ejector racks or something like that, right? So why not add a top layer on the F-15, thickness wouldn't be more than 30 inches, have ejector racks that can push the AMRAAM up and away before launching. Two large pods resting on the of the jet intakes and extended back to where the tail is. Then add in some ejector rack so that those pods can be jettisoned to either side in an emergency.... ok, sorry, too much Macross and too little reality. Next I'll probably want armor along the wing root structure. -

I'll be more impressed when they slap a fast pack on the F-15s, ala VF-1; may be put equivalent weapon pods like the CFT style takes they have for F-16 and F-18. Those could add at least another four missiles. The topside of the F-15 is incredibly underutilized. I figure as a missile truck, you don't need as good a rearward visibility. -

What a waste, the centerline has nothing on it, can't they slap on a pod with four more AMRAAMs? 12 AMMRAAMs seem to be not nearly enough for an itano circus. But I suppose, they could have a fuel tank there and make the idea of a linked missile truck to an F-35 a reality. Wait, is that a tailhook on the F-15? Didn't know the 15s had one. -
agreed, it seems that even old fuddie duddies can be entertaining. Oh wait, F***, I'm one of them. GODDA***IT.

Disney or Comcast buys Fox or Fox wants to sell to someone

Cue Dr. Evil laugh, I bid $100 Million, oh wait, $100 Billion. I am sure old man Murdoch is smiling ear to ear, or at least his kids must be. -

Bob Iger, CEO of Disney. I just like to call him Sideshow Bob because he isn't Walt. But it's all tongue and cheek fun, anyone who knows how Iger has operated knows that the man has done a fantastic job at Disney. Yes, raising prices at the park is not good for consumers, but would you rather have 10,000 more people a day crowding in Disney? ESPN and ABC are kind of on the downside these days even though they still bring in a good share of the revenue. But that one is a trend problem, one that Sideshow Bob is tackling by moving his distribution online like Netflix. The man has greased the wheels for Disney for the next decade, I feel sorry for whoever has to replace him. It'll not be quite as bad as coming in after Walt or Steve Jobs, but whoever it is has to think about how to advance the Disney empire to the next level, and it's a tall order. I would agree that I'd rather pick Disney than Comcast because the latter has a much more horrible impact on our lives than Disney. You can always choose to go without Disney, going without Comcast can be a lot harder depending on which part of the country you live in. -

That's like saying, who started McDonalds, it wasn't Ray Kroc. It's factually true, but not that relevant as to the question who made Disney great again. It took the genius of Sideshow Bob to recognize the importance of content over distribution after he became CEO and his ability to pick outstanding people to run those units made Disney the empire. Hence, his succession of purchases. Remember, lots of people could've had Marvel (ahem Sony, and Fox), only Sideshow Bob took the leap, by the time Disney bought Marvel, there had only been two movies released, and one of them (with Ed Norton) sucked Stain balls. Sure, Pixar was a proven asset, but Iger had to do that deal or risk the animation gravy train ending. Star Wars was another decent move, the key was kicking out old George Lucas, nobody else could've done that, and let's face it, Fox could've bought out Star Wars. Love 24, I have the DVDs to prove it... but unfortunately, Keifer is over the hill, sometimes it's best to let old things die and just remember them fondly as they were, rather than seeing them as what they become. Looking at you, Han Solo. -

Are you kidding, I love Disney. I hope Sideshow Bob stays on forever. Do you know why? The guy managed to transform Disney after the disaster of the Eisner era. I hope they succeed with the Fox bid, because it would enable them to survive. Without Disney, we'd not have the MCU, Star Wars would be lingering in limbo while Lucas vacillates between doing something and his inherent desire to be lazy. All that and because I happen to own shares. Of all the movies I watched in the last few years, I think there was three that didn't originate from Disney. -

Charity alright, charity for Sideshow Bob and his immediate minions if the mouse loses. The cast members don't deserve anything. (actually, they deserve it more than the C-suite, those suits must be incredibly hot and uncomfortable) -
I thought they all did pretty well. This is probably why those live actions keep rolling out. I wonder though if Disney can do better by using new names and second string actors in some of those. I mean you can make a good argument that Disney is a star maker, so Sideshow bob can pay less up front and make bank in return the actors/actresses can boost their stars in Hollywood. I prefer "the moon faced assassin of joy" Thank you.

Sideshow Bob won't let this go down, this is a cage match to the death. Hurry, go mortgage Sleeping Beauty's castle, Snow White's kingdom, and Donald Duck's sailor hat. Then we'll show Comcast who has the deeper pockets. -
Oh yeah baby, let's just live action every cartoon we've ever made. Look, what's even better is that we have tons of new animation content, (thank you Pixar) that can be turned into live action thirty years down the road to remind the current generation of kids about their youth. You know it's true, somewhere in the bowels of Burbank, in a smoke filled room, Sideshow Bob held court, and between him and his minions, they came up with this idea of the content gravy train that is aimed to hook one generation, and then the next for life. And to ensure their dominance, they'll keep adding content, just wait, one day, even the Minions will belong to Bob. Sideshow Bob loves the idea, so much so that he is going to freeze himself (ala Walt) and wake up in a hundred years to see the results of his Disney empire. Comment: no, I'm not cynical, just being realistic.

X-men/FF/Minions Crossover F*** Yeah!!! Then we can throw Deadpool and Cable in the mix too. Or, if Disney loses, they can bid on AT&T as soon as AT&T is done buying WB. Can we say DC/Marvel X-over. Oh yeah, Batman vs Iron man. Superman vs some guy with real facial hair. It would be awesome. -
I'm sorry, but can't we have Grimlock instead? Not the Bay Grimlock, but the frigging TV Grimlock.... just me.

You know, from the latest MI movie, it isn't easy to tell how old Tommy is. I wonder what the plot is, isn't he supposed to be the instructor now? The new Michael Ironside... code name Jester. -

Iranians, the Iranians make good enemies, until the wider muslim world take offense. OH god, is o there anyone we can't offend these days and still make a movie? How about generic Nazis... I'm sure we can still find some. I think Ice and Mav need to dig out a couple of old Tomcats from the boneyards, and arm them up with old phoenix and load up with AMRAAMs. Or may be, we can do a navalized version of the F-22... or even an F-23.... (or just insert a picture of the J-20 there, and CGI in the USN insignia, the current generation won't know the difference anyway, and that means hollywood can sell better in China) -
Woohoo, looking forward to a massive fleet battle with more and more firepower piled on just to show Kodai how utterly stupid his self imposed injunction on the WMG actually is, and what an utterly uninformed turd Starsha actually was.

Star Wars : Untitled Boba Fett Movie announced
kalvasflam replied to derex3592's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
They should have Ray Parks play him... after all, Maul was pretty silent. I think it's entirely possible to render Boba with CGI (no actor in specific playing him... i.e. he never takes off his helmet) and is entirely silent during the entire movie. I'm sure they can figure out a way to drive the plot line using other characters to do the talking. All Boba has to do is nod or shake his head, and may be do an occasional hand gestures. My vote for the title: Boba Fett: Son of Jango As for the so called anthology films, I did like Rogue One, in spite of the massive holes in common sense, but then that was light years better than the trainwreck called TLJ . -
well, can't say no to a big fleet battle. I still hold out hope that there can be some redemption to the crappy story.

Are you kidding, the specialization of aircraft will be more necessary than ever in the next two decades. A derivative of the S-3 will be more necessary than ever given the newer Russian subs. I don't think they'll be using F-18s for that role. As far as fleet defenders are concerned, China has a large number of J-11, J-10, H-6, JH-7s, and that doesn't even begin to take into account possible J-20s. Now, that doesn't mean going back to an F-14, but it sure as heck means that F-18s and the F-35s need to be replaced with something that can go against those numbers and possible stealth. Admittedly, using UCLASS for tankers will alleviate some of the problems, but the -18s still have very short legs. < 500 miles when loaded for combat if I remember right,
