Oh man, how sad, the entire New Republic is essentially just one system. Take it away, and there is nothing. That's really putting all your eggs in one basket. Good point on how they managed Rey, her part of the story and Kylo's in terms of interactions was actually pretty good. And the lightsaber fight was still awesome. But the rest of it, like the escape from FO, well it seemed like someone decided it was a good idea to mutate Empire Strikes Back and then crossbred it with the worst parts of the prequels, except they couldn't quite make it all fit, and decided to get high and come up with some weird stuff.

The funny thing is that by the end of TLJ, the Resistance effectively became a terrorist organization. A small cell of insurgents bent on undoing the existing power structure. I'm sure more than enough discussion has been had about how empty the rest of the movie was in terms of filling in the blanks on what the state of the rest of the galaxy was. I might be misremember but very little was said about the rest of the New Republic. The FO essentially blew up one system and whatever was around it, but what about the rest of the galaxy as a whole? Yeah, I'd agree there, he essentially said, screw it, I'll substitute in my own idea, and if you want to finish it intelligently, I want to head up the next movie. Job security. Rian Johnson basically had the same effect on the new Trilogy as Brett Ratner on the first three X-men films, the only difference is that Ratner screwed up the last of the trilogy, Johnson's doing more damage since he whacked the middle episode.

I would be curious to see how they wrap up this series. I applaud the idea of a different direction, because if they didn't have Kylo knock off Snoke, it would've been a predictable redemption/reunion thing with Kylo (whether he dies or not is not relevant). But this unexpected change with Kylo could be good or bad, you could literally see that they have a dumpster fire of an ep IX with some weird Kylo redemption thing or Kylo going off the deep end, and gets killed. The one thing that they can't really do is not wrap up the Kylo/Rey arc. But they set up too difficult a trajectory due to how Ep VII and VIII went, ythey have to wrap this up in one movie. One has to hope there are no more side shows with Finn, Poe, Rose, and company, because that's just going to lead us literally nowhere, and at this point, those characters all became extras. I would give this series a more than even chance of being even worse than the prequel at its end, and that was with TFA having a pretty good start.

Entering rant mode: And people wonder why nobody trusts the news media these days. All we get is click bait and crap like this. Throw in the words: racist, social justice, black lives matter, Trump, illegal immigration... and there is an instant reaction from people, and our media doesn't help at all, all these people care about are eyeballs, if there was a mass shooting, or a riot, or whatever, our media will be right there to cover it with their spin and whatever crazed political agenda they have. If it happens to tear apart society a little bit, well, it's not their fault. When I saw that idiotic article, my first thought was I hope this guy's research isn't government funded, because what a waste of time and money. TLJ was awful on its own. The bad plot, the useless side trips, the scale of it was worse than all of the prequels combined. If they literally made a ten minute short about Kylo and Rey and that throne room scene, it would've been heads and shoulders above. And don't get me started about Leia's magical force power, how convenient that was, it was too bad there wasn't a turbolaser bolt blasting her at that point. Done Ranting. And now, for a moment of levity. I think I need to go pee right now, odd, I just went half an hour ago. I bet it's the Russians fault. Quick, somebody call CNN, MSNBC, and Fox. P.S. Azreal, how dare you claim to be a Russian or Chinese troll, that's cultural appropriation I'll have you know. The Russian and Chinese trolls will be filing suit shortly.

Amen, they could've cut out the Vader scene at the end, and it would've still been a good movie.

Yeah, good luck with that. For episode IX, they simply need to find a way to kill off all of those with the Skywalker genes, and possibly even Rey, and get back to people shooting each other with blasters.... oh yeah. And star destroyers. May be Star destroyers armed with FAST PACKs... sorry, I'm thinking Yamato 2202 as I write this. And because of that, Rian Johnson killed the character... Sweet revenge.

Hey, I thought JLaw was tired of X-men movies, and weren't going to do them any more. I guess she realized that it's still great money in showing up and having blue makeup slathered on, right? As far as Disney and X-men are concerned, I'm sure it's in Sideshow Bob's plan to eventually bring all of Marvel's assets back into the fold. I am curious though on how they plan to close out the MCU. They have taken this thing pretty far, but all good things must come to an end. I'm not sure I see an Avengers 5.. Although I suppose those guys could be persuaded for the right amount of money. I mean after Thanos, they need to start up a new arc, and that might be problematic. Hope they do a good job with this one though.

The Andies that was shown attacking Gatlantis all had DNs strapped to its side... MAnKESHIFT FAST PACKS. I wonder if they can do an Alto and eject them on demand. As for the suit, I wonder if it's the same kind of suit being worn in the time fault. Perhaps that is what Gatlantis has too, you'll note that they understand the time fault trick. If we are to believe for example that their capabilities with the battleships was new at the beginning of the series, then to have as many as they did by episode 10, perhaps it's because all of Gatlantis is a gigantic time fault. They come up with the next best thing, and off they go with the battleships. Who knows, perhaps that's why the planets are there, to be used as resource sink for a massive time fault to construct warships. Big leaping conclusions here.

I'm sure it is not the original Andy, that ship was shot to hell. No way it go repaired... so, it's variant 2.0 with all new DN attachments. I guess they are taking a page out of Macross, Andromeda class, all new with DN FAST packs. It doubles as a booster and with extra guns. And the side blisters on the Andys have lots of AA guns????? The Captain seems he is going to go down with the ship... the sword must have just missed his head, it would be hilarious if it decapitated the two guys in front of him. Har har. This reminds me, that planet busting gun, what is that exactly? Is it a variant powered by the artificial sun? if so, where did the artificial sun come from? That planet it's busting looks like one of the planets in the Gatlantis bird cage.

Solo: A Star Wars Story, in theaters May 25, 2018
kalvasflam replied to Dobber's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It was a good enough movie. Better IMO than that turd known as TLJ. May be they should've called it, TLTRJGTD (The Last Time Rian Johnson Gets To Direct) Anyway, it was likeable enough. But apparently, not according to the accounts employed by Sideshow Bob,. So, slowing things down. -
OMG, we're now spamming Andromedas... frakk YEAH, who needs DNs when we can spam Andromedas.... I think I counted something like a dozen Andromedas. Which makes sense given how many we saw in the last episode. Gamillas Andromedas, and is that Berger? Wow, so, they weren't kidding when they said Gamilas got provided with Andromeda class carriers. A new color scheme on the Andromeda, which shortly gets another sword through the bridge. Hmm, is it even the same Andromeda? I think that ship is the Andromeda, note the name on the side of the bridge... could be an indication that this is an Andromeda class ship. It is kind of a nerd-gasm, this is starting to feel like Michael Bay Transformers, throw in a bunch of stuff that could be anything, and hope people don't notice. For example, why are there DNs attached to the left side of each Andromedas? They are gluing ships on now? If so, why not the right side? Or may be there is, and we don't see a picture of it. I like my junk piles to be symmetrical please. Oh, wait, I was wrong, there are two DNs glued to each of the Andromeda, making it a super duper Andromeda. Now my sense of symmetry is satisfied. But why DNs, why not glue two Andromedas together, or may be even three of them. I wonder what it means when there are different color scheme Andromedas. In fact, I think those red ones are all Gamilas types.. But it's hard to tell. And seriously, where is Desslar. Not one image of him in this trailer.

Top Gun: Maverick (Top Gun 2 is comin)
kalvasflam replied to Ladic's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Exactly, they need to be able to mount at least seven of those pods to make it worth while. Like I said, two over the FAST pack tanks on the Rhinos, may be two more on top of the wings, and two beneath. Then the cernerline pod. Please remember, we're talking Hollywood here, you can never have enough missile pods or missiles, or Mig 28s. And by the way, why is this a Navy fighter without carrying Harpoons or SLAM-ERs. Just utterly unconscionable, next you'll tell me that the air launched Tomahawks are too big to fit into those pods. -

Is that thing carrying all those pods at once? I guess I can see that, mount two over the wings, two more on the FAST pack, two under the wing, and what the hell, that thing on the centerline could make it seven. Let's see, if we take option one, six pods equals to 24xAMRAAMs. Itano circus anyone? Although that needs to happen before his backseater activates the centerline pods and call for the drones. -

OMG, that was so obvious. You can even have Maverick with quippy lines like "I used to fly those." -

No I think he shot down 3xF-18s. Maverick's training methods. If you can dodge a sidewinder, you can dodge a ball.... I'm really curious on how they will portray Iceman. I wonder if we can get some real opposition this time, SU-37s, may be Mig 29s. They can be Russian or North Koreans, but not Chinese, because the China movie market is huge... -
Or a slob in desperate need of a paycheck that he is willing to sit there for eight hours to get into make up and put on a ridiculous looking set of spandex. There is no reason why that person cannot be a hero. In between the lines, see you later Cavil (never was) and Afflectk (has been), there are hundreds of guys like you we can pull off the street for a new Superman and a new Batman. Hell, may be we can get back Bale bat again.
-
Oh no, and here I was hoping to have a Superman with a mustache. It would've been so appropriate too. I guess no Darkseid for a while, or may be in this DC universe, they unceremoniously kill Superman and Batman off screen.

Well, I think we can all agree that what Sideshow Bob and his cohorts won't do is take this kind of public relations risk. Just remember what they did when that poor kid in Disney World got drowned by the alligator, or to the fat person on ABC. They took action immediately and pretty much stayed the course and let things die down. They figured there are two options here, either be loved by everyone or be hated by everyone. That way, you are never ever stuck on just one side if things went sideways. It's a good business move.
-
You know, somewhere, Sideshow Bob and his minions probably huddled together, and decided that there might be more skeletons in the closet, then they imagined the furor if Disney hired the guy back, and then later on, they found out something else about Gunn. Either in relation to his tweets or something else. And it went public. Then it would look horrible for Disney because they didn't vet him well enough. Basically Gunn is too risky an asset right now. Give it five or six years, if there are no controversies, they can probably figure out a way to bring him back on some smaller projects, and then go from there. Basically "rehabilitate" him like Mel Gibson.

I look at it this way, 2202 is better than a good number of shows out there. But it failed to live up to the standards set by 2199. The writing became overly dependent on the next big thing. Think about the progression in the series. Ep 1 had the new Gatlantis battleship, by Ep 6, the same battleship was cannon fodder. By Ep7, there were a million plus of these ships combining to form the stupid cannon. While to meet the threat, Earth turned to a cut and paste machine. It went from a few dozen new ships to more ships than you can possibly count. By the way, that million plus battleships could've sure been useful during Saturn. The puffing up of the threat level just make no sense at all, surely Gatlantis didn't discover their spamming power in the intervening three years, so what made the Gamillas able to fight Gatlantis evenly in the years before. Then there are the paper cutout bad guys. Zordar's motivations are just baffling. He wants to destroy the universe by making Teresa intervene... huh? The only redeeming thing right now is the Desslar storyline. Which IMO managed to boost the last four episodes. Which incidentally makes Gatlantis actually relevant. The main problem is that the bar is set too high. Just like it was for Macross Delta, it failed to live up to its predecessor, Macross F.

you realize that means next year at the earliest. How many episodes did they saw were in this show. If it's a 26 episode run, it means two more sets of movies. Probably finishing theatrical release in March 2019. I just don't want to wait that long. BTW, I actually thought that this set was a bit of an improvement over the last four episodes. Primarily because of the Desslar development. The fleet battle was... meh.
