  1. We'll don't they have the VF-x 2 license? Or is it only a per mecha thingie where they can only pick and choose? Come on yammie. http://unsd.macrossroleplay.org/zvariable3.jpg] http://unsd.macrossroleplay.org/zvariable1.jpg] http://unsd.macrossroleplay.org/zvariable2.jpg] ^ Need this as an escort to the konig monster.
  2. The new urban camo GBP looks nice. Anyone planning on getting one? I want to see what the low vis looks like in it. Ah, wonder when we'll see reactive armor for vf-0s. Hah. Maybe when they tighten those joints at 1/48 vf-1 levels..
  3. GERWALK mode looks the coolest imo. I have had it posed in that for months. Yamato needs to give us another surprise release: I want a Variable Glaug.
  4. That urban camo gbp looks pretty cool.
  5. It's because the white skull and crossbones on the black background is always superior! When the sv-51 comes out (and provided no major probs) I know I will be getting ivanov's first heh. I think the stealth vf-1 is really good. (the "titan's elite" or delta force of battroid schemes ) And I hope if they get to yf-21 they do a non-canon black paintscheme similar to the VF-22 in macross 7. Then I can line them all up on the shelf: vf-1 stealth, Ivanov sv-51, and yf-21. It's the unofficial macross "Elite counter-giant, anti-qrau fighting force" for use at night and to sneak aboard rogue zentradi ships for those close range silent kills.
  6. The box alone would be worth hundreds in the future. The alpha was just a bonus with it. I'm only joking
  7. Although I've said I prefer the boxy look of the toynami, if these turn out to not be floppy mess with parts ready to fall off the minute you try to transform them, hell I will end up buying 1 of each type. As a little kid, I always thought it was a cool looking bot and prefer this robot mode over the vf-1 robot mode. Just please hold together!.. *prays for decent durability* I wonder if CMs could do some macross 2 stuff? Ah that'd be good..
  8. Yes would really love to see if the toy could do that mode! Robot with massive booster on its back. Because the series took place on the ground, you don't really get much time to see it fly around in space in that combination much. Military Aqaurion could still kicks its butt though..
  9. I still don't understand how the hell toynami could do DYRL toys for non-japan fanbase of macross? How come? I wouldn't be surprised if these mospeada toys were sold on HG RT website (but not labeled Robotech toys) in the same way you can get the macross plus dvds from it. eg. With regard to the 1/100 VF-1 toys: those were aimed as toys for global (non-japan) macross fans. (instead of as robotech: macross saga toys) They could still sell those Toynami MPC Alpha as "robotech: new generation" collector pieces while raking in profit from "Genesis Climber Mospeada" toys, for fans of that in the US/global region. That way they get to cater to fans of both the two *different series. (since the MPC has been almost done and everyone who had wanted one has bought them, they aren't really competing so much now imo with the exception of the beta.) *no Rick hunter and SDF3 mentioned in mospeada Similar story but different enough!
  10. I actually wish they went more for a bulky armored robot look than a slimmer humanoid action figure look. But yeah great news! At least there is some competition now. Will be interesting to see these in various modes. I want to see the legioss and beta connected. HG should just get these released locally as robotech toys imo. Would be interesting to see how durable these things are compared to the mpc. Given they are about the same size, there will be inevitable comparisons between the MPC and this made by fans.
  11. I'd just get kakizaki. It's always best to have a whole set of something.
  12. Would this be that hard though? The vf-1 line got 3 unique heads and many schemes to milk. The plus line has less overall valk schemes so I guess they will want as much different things to make to maintain interest. My bet is we get it and if not, diehard collectors will eventually ask for it. The quicker they think of the things they CAN do, the less chance we miss out on these goodies as the opportunity to do them passes by. (took 5 years for this! may as well sort everything out now)
  13. Macross is pretty good. I haven't played mame in a while. Too many modern games I haven't finished. I remember always using the Neorage emulator to play neogeo roms though. Man that was awesome being able to play metal slug 1 and then going into the arcade totally prepared for every boss and not dying because I had learnt all the patterns by playing it at home. heh. One of my old fave emulators back in the mid-late 90s was this one called callus. It was a CPS1 emulator that allowed you to play all the old capcom classics like street fighter II, Captain commando, final fight, strider, king of dragons, area 88, warriors of fate and many others. Mainly they were walk-along beat em ups but because it was so well made it allowed you to play at decent framerate on a low end system. So it was a real joy to be able to go back and play these game again at full speed with sound and very little glitches. My first emulator was really for gameboy games that I couldn't find. So being able to play arcade titles that I was addicted on pc was exciting. The reason is because often the development team that tries to convert these arcade games doesn't do a perfect job (even street fighter II on snes and megadrive don't feel good) or miss out on some crucual thing that changes the gameplay of the game and as a hardcore fan of that arcade game, you can tell the differences between the arcade version and the ported version of that title on a home pc or console. That's when I was really into emulators. But these days..you can get good accurate emulated versions by the companies that release them as compilations now, so some of the excitement of emulators (well for me anyway) has worn off a bit. For example the PS2 is getting a megadrive compilation with some good old school classic titles. But if you don't have any money you can't complain about the emulators on pc since they are free. Just that nowadays, some of the best scrolling modern 2d hand drawn platform shooters like the metal slug series and KingOfFighters can be had in compilations all on a single cd legit. These are really the only games that tend to have held my attention for long as fan of those specific games. But for the really old school: (donkey kong, pac man, mario bros, galaga etc) the emulation scene really helps to preserve the games long after they are no longer easy to find. (even if they are popular for thier day, the chances of seeing them in modern arcade today is pretty slim) So it is more a nostalgia trip more than anything. Games like the original contra can only really hold my attention for a little while. Double Dragon? You can win the game doing the elbow because the enemy ai and balance is poor. (they fixed this a bit in no.2) But some of the gameplay of the true classic is still just as addictive back then as it is today. Once in a while I play final fight and can win this in a single credit on the hardest difficulty. Great fast paced gameplay, enemies that vary in thier attack speed, range and style, and take advantage of that by working together, bosses that ca kill you in a few hits unless you know thier weakness (abigail the wrestler is a fave of mine) and lots of choice in how you like to fight. (good character design on cody, guy, and haggar.) The massive sprite engine to handle the details and animate them so their moves look unique is also impressive. But with the release of games like samurai showdown 6 (I like this series if fighter) on ps2 I really feel like I've gone through my whole emulator phase.
  14. Same for me. Toynami did do Macross 1/100s after all. (not robobtech 1/100) So they would be able to aim them at the non-japan fans of macross II. But sadly unless people show some interest in the vf-1s at 1/100 (and I don't think the robotech crowds gives a poo about these) we'd be lucky to see destroid and fast packs let alone some new macross II 1/100 perfect variable toys. One the the reasons I think it was good for them to go small scale and non-masterpiece, is because knowing thier limits, if they screw it up the loss isn't going to be so big. They are cheap and affordable. But it seems everyone wants masterpiece grade of details, even if toynami may not be able to deliver the sturdiness for it to be worth paying full price. *sigh* (and yes I realise people still think 1/100 are a rip off, but my point still stands that it is affordable to someone who, although they would like a masterpiece toy, just can't afford it and wants something to hold in their hand to play with. )
  15. I've posted my suggestions on what yamato should do on all future release yf-19 in the other price gouging thread here. Basically include FP covers with the yf-19 free. And have the Fold booster be the equivalent of buying the Ghost booster for the vf-0 seperate. I think the least they could do is give us the covers free. I posted my thoughts here since the topic relates. (one is for ranting about price, the other about fold booster. But the post fits into both subjects: ranting about the price of the fold booster ) In summary: all future yf-19 should just come with the covers free as standard and they gradually phase out the older yf-19 release which didn't include the covers.
  16. They are very good. Although they miss out on the cool double-jointed knees for gerwalk poses, like the recent vf0 valks, I have had no probs with them so far. (only thing is you need to tighten the wrists a little - too loose imo But everything else locks together firmly and the joints are tight. ) The fast packs feel like "masterpiece quality" of detail and have weight to them with covers that can be removed, and indiviual micromissiles, and the GBP armr set comes with similar grade of quality and detail. This is what a super upgrade kit should be if it were to be an indidivual purchase with it's own box. Which is why I think it would be a good idea to have the yf-19 covers (no where near as much stuff as the FastPacks for vf-1 imo) come with the yf-19 since they are so small, and then have the fold booster set (sold seperate) come with the extra missiles that we didn't see in mac plus. (and maybe an arm weapon seen briefly in the anime.) Fold booster + missiles would be the seperate set. FP free with the yf-19 like the covers for vf-0. So does everyone think that is fair? I think it only models what you get for the vf-0. ie the 0 gets the covers with the valk and there is no FP-less VF0. The vf-0 has the ghost booster which is optional, and so the yf-19 equivalent of that would be fold booster with missiles. It's not that "nobody wants the fold booster". (In fact there were people suggesting they make one before we knew one was being made) Just that I think we should be getting FP covers for the yf19 for free. At first I didn't think it would be a problem, but now that I think about it, I don't like the idea of how it forces someone to get the fold booster if you just want to have a yf-19 with the FP upgrade. Maybe for the vf-11 (assuming this is even being done) they could do something different since the FAST packs are more chunky and it goes a little closer to the vf-1 FP with chunky boosters on its back and all. But it seems to me the covers for the 19 would be better to be bundled with each 19. If yamato is planning on doing the extra missiles for the yf-19 I would suggest they go this route for the 19; eventually phasing out all "non-fp YF-19" releases in future, the same way the 1/72 FP vf-11 superceded the non-fp vf-11. Hopefully by that time (or maybe earlier) the crooked gunpod issue will be addressed and you can only find "yf-19 with covers" in stores as the standard.
  17. I liked it. The bike was too shiny though. I thought the bit where he swings the chains to grapple onto the helicopter and you hear a "yahoo" as if he was some cowboy was a little cheesy though. It was better than daredevil but about equal with hulk. (I actually didn't think hulk was all that bad. Hulk is really just a misunderstood monster and the movie handled that part well)
  18. After seeing classics jetfire I so badly want to see what a masterpiece jetfire would be like. I don't own one, but I've seen pics where you can have the wings folded downward. (not canon to the comic though)
  19. Such a shame yamato has no plans. TakaraTomy maybe?
  20. Just for the record I feel the FP + fold is high. I don't really have any suggestions on what I think it would be worth. But I will eventually buy them and if the reviews are positive and there are no quality issues..I won't complain. I've always been of the belief that the buyer determines the price based on whether he forks over the money or not. If the seller can get as high as he can off the buyer then you can't really complain that the seller isn't doing good business or you are being ripped, since you paid up. You tend to feel ripped if you know others got a better deal and want to be even with others. But what you don't know can't hurt you. If the majority of fans fork over money that tells the maker: this is worth that amount. If fans do decide this is out of the price range,...the items are overstocked, then eventually they may get a better deal with time. Some people are more patient than others. Maybe that is the lesson to be learned: money means less to you if you are loaded with it. So maybe paying the high cost is "worth it" to that person who is ok with it. But not ok to those who are used to a lower price closer to the VF-1 FP. You'll get so many different answers that the question becomes a little pointless. I feel the VF-1 FP based on size, gimmicks, detail, etc were pretty good. (maybe that is due partly because there is lots of lineart for them and they are just generally a chunky object in the anime?) I don't really know much about the fold booster though, to make an informed decision (we get drip-fed info and teased) so I am playing wait and see as I usually do before judging. (maybe the beautiful glowing lights make the complainers change thier mind or have some hypnotic effect on people or something?) I just think that maybe yamato should throw in some other gear like the underarm weapon and missiles which would have sweetened the deal a bit more seeing as you get so much stuff for the VF-1 Super and strike kit. I really don't know: I think because the VF-0 got the FP with the plane, this should be included with yf-19, and then like the ghost booster for vf-0, you can have the fold booster seperate with some of the missiles and stuff seen in that pic. (all the goodies that are canon to the plane but just werent seen onscreen in the anime.) Personally this is the thing I'd want: -yf-19 with fp included. (yang can be included too) -fold booster is sold as a kit like the super/strike parts for vf-1. What you get are all the missiles, and the booster. -limited edition arm weapon (make up some details if you can't find lineart. I actually don't mind if they did it) the LE would allow yamato to sell a special yf-19 which the uber anal collectors would want to get to add as a MIB yf-19 one of a kind. (like the credit card valk only not as rare) I think they should scrap the original plan to just follow what they did for the 1/72 macross plus line where they had seperate non-fast pack versions. (let's be honest how many really resisted the urge to not buy the super and strike parts and not want to upgrade thier valk?) At the rate yamato release thier products now, people will only feel shortchanged for being an early adopter and getting the non-fp yf-19. What does everyone else think? I see value in total number of items included, how much gimmicks they have, and details. The vf-1 FP kit and the GBP are all great "value" because of what you get, but "covers" feel kinda small and would have been better as included as freebies with the yf-19 in retrospect. (under my own definition of "value") I think the Fold booster is the equivalent to the VF-0's ghost booster, or the VF-1's Super and Strike kit, and should be a seperate item, but with substantial extras like what we saw with the 1/48. (seperate micromissiles and all) But in this case, you get the missiles we didn't see in the anime.
  21. You might want to provide a link
  22. That is so strange. Maybe people who hear it will get a nostagliac feeling and wonder what happened to the cartoon they used to watch all those years ago and seek out the dvds? Hehe HG can only benefit from it.
  23. For macross they can't even if they want to, because of the Harmony Gold thing. Votoms and megazone 23 are ok as far as I know. But this is why I think impressions that highlight these little problems are all the more important in the long run to highlight anything that needs addressing so the future ones benefit from fixes or improvements. For example if you knew about hip breakages on vf11 1/72, you'd probably hold off on a purchase of that and wait for the FP version with the fix to be safe. That info saves you the grief if you are the type who doesn't like fixing stuff for fear you might make something even worse. (also for some things like electronics, if you try to fix something yourself, you will void the warranty, so you are forced to put up with the prob if you are the unlucky early buyer - noisy xbox360s anyone?)
  24. Ah...if only there were no HG issue we might even be enjoying better prices due to not having to go through importers. But yeah I agree with pretty much those points. There are times where importing for some things can actually be cheaper though. I buy my games imported (including all the fees and currency conversion) and the total price at the end is cheaper than local. (also benefit of being region free) Now I'm ok to pay high prices personally, (I was one of those who bought the Qrau which many can agree was overpriced for what you get) but I still agree to some extent with some people about the FP being a little overpriced compared to what you got with FP for vf-1. It does look kinda barebones since all they are, is just these covers. ("VF-0 had them included why not yf-19?" is the question that seems to be on people's minds) I'm still eventually going to buy one to have everything depending on reviews. (still wondering how the fold booster lights up and what kind of pattern it has to it) One thing we can all agree on is: boxes too big and ugly. Would be good in future if yamato has a way to sell the vf-1 at a discounted pricepoint by sacrificing some of the presnetation. Like how these days you see pc gamecases in small boxes so retailers can actually fit more on the shelves rather than be in these humongous boxes which take up lots of space and inside the boxes is lots of empty space in them. Maybe use better cardboard and smaller overall box, and shipping cost could be lessened for the overseas buyer? We can complain and make jokes about how George Lucas is milking the fanbase with his starwars dvd releases, we can complain about hg with the various robotech dvd versions which is even made fun of on tv, (in the other anime forums) so I think (although I may not agree with thier view) a person should also be allowed to do it on occassion with yamato. ie Poor quality stickers, lack of tampo prints compared to other companies, materials that might need a bit more strength, joints that need a bit more stiffness or ratchets etc Some of these things are things people complained about the toynami toys too. It's not like we are picking on only yamato when we batty.. Welcome to the internet, where no matter how good quality you think something is, there will always be a group who is disapointed by something minor and who has different standard of measuring things to others. What's minor to one person is a major thing to another.
