  1. But before you judge realise that the impressions from buyers of the MPC for VF-1 were usually pretty negative too and this is from the robotech forums where the fans are still interested in buying out of desperation because they are censored from learning about other toys. So if they complain about problems too it can't be just be bias. Everyone just wants a good quality toy that doesn't break easily. There is no hidden agenda. We hope that they improve and fix the problems so we can buy it more easily, but ultimately if you can't touch it for fear it will break that is a huge factor for a lot of us in wanting one. The toynami 1/100 aren't too bad, so you won't hear many people complaining about breakages with those. So although it might seem a person is antitoynami, it could just be they've been burned and felt disapointed that a masterpiece feels so breakable and cheap and not because of bias. You won't hear many people complain about the Banprestos for example simply because nobody likes them enough to have actually bought them to be able to bash it. It's a shame mospeada never got many toys made for it.
  2. Whether something is popular and good are two different things. And whether I like it isn't dependent on popularity to others or commercial success with other fans. I thought fire bombers songs were good. But the macross 7 tv series suffered from the repetition from a story point of view. (being 52 eps means you might get tired easier) This is why people felt it was like monster of the week show: the repetition forced them to have to see the same thing over again. The battle animations looked familiar (same criticism could be said for gundam wing though) the song was the same, but the episode was new. heh. It's a bit like how a super robot show has the hero use the same move and the bad guy never learns to counter it. Compare that to Priss (and the replicants)in bubblegum crisis who had 1 unique song for each episode and you can really appreciate the range of songs better since it's only an OVA and you never here 1 song overused. I guess it's just that tv series are not designed to be watched like a movie or ova where you sit on the chair and watch them in one long marathon session. This may have had an effect on you because you notice patterns better and would complain more about repetition.
  3. The newtypes in a sense wouldn't term it magic. To them, sensing the other pilot is a very real thing that can be "proven" within the UC universe when up against other ace pilots, because they'll do it consistently in the same manner a martial artist can break concrete slabs with his fist in front of a camera and have people analyse it, and explain the biomechanics. Now if macross F goes down this path(humans are the older less evolved ones): could the creators please explain it or at least link this in some way to "how machines get it to work" rather than giving us the mysterious ending they gave us in macross Zero? That would make a lot of people (like me) happier. (someone mentioned that perhaps the island itself wasn't even natural, just covered in trees and stuff which could reveal it to be an artificial island with artificial gravity device able to be activated momentarily? - ie just like the sunken islands being lifted in DYRL after misa and hikaru get back to earth?) Although zero made an attempt to link antigravity with the AFOS and floating rocks, I would like to see the explanation for things. No mysterious endings, just try to legitimise it to the humans who were last seen studying the islanders in Mzero. Perhaps the military is partly going to the dangerous parts of space just to test the powers of these people and pacifcy or control the PC bugs to learn more about thier limits in combat so they can eventually capture one themselves and learn how they work? (which they failed to do in macross zero as the head escaped) If they knew about these for 50 years, had time to study the islanders, and learned a bit more about the anima spiritua thing from macross 7 (transmitting emotions from song to a person's heart to affect their feelings which wakes their soul from zombie state to normal state) then it stands to reason they would have their own secret plan to harness this power in some way to try to communicate to the PC that humans are friendly (since we were allowed to access the information in the ruins in macross 7 using mylenes blood as a test) and want to learn more. Maybe all that are left of the PC are guardian robots, or perhaps those remnants forgot their own history and decided it didn't matter if the protodevlin were gone now, because they lost so much and want to be left alone? (so all the bugs are set to see humans as hostile beings due to their wars on earth)
  4. The stuff where you can easily change the colour and correct it would be easy. In fact don't they mention this would be possible in the dvd commentary interview on the animeigo release? Surprised no one has done it.
  5. If only there was lineart of it.
  6. Humans = macross version of gundam "old types" (so I doubt the average joe will ever have powers) PC descendants with shamanic training = "new types" (but with stronger psychic powers than the NT in gundam. More like the powers you see in Akira or the big bad guy in Street Fighter II) And yeah although magic (as we see it in movies) doesn't exist, the religions/beliefs do exist. So in the anime world you've got to expect them to exaggerate things for excitement just as videogames and comic books and role playing games do it. So instead of uri geller, you have charles xavier, Jean grey, jedi, or the kid in akira. Instead of dedicated fighter jets, you have transforming robots. In gundam it's newtypes with psychic predictive ability which allows them to sense what the other is thinking. In macross it's some mayan priestesses who uses ceremonial magic to gain some kind of power. Whether they can be made real or not is another subject. If macross goes down a path like that of gundam, I wouldn't be surprised if they try to link the mayan's (who were linked to the visitation to earth by the PC which tampered with our genes to make us evolve quicker) in zero, to the really advanced technology of any space monster that might appear in macross F. The reason I say this is because the nature-loving magick-wielder tends to favour natural methods of doing things over relying on manufactured things artificially created and sold for money. (because it is materialistic/greedy and would go against the belief) In rpgs materialism is for the fighter classes who relies on "steel", (conan ) physical muscles, money, and their own skill. Whereas the magicians/priests tend to favour the gods or some nature spirit helping them. If the bugs in macross F are sort of a merging of technology with nature, then it brings into question: can the PC have made living robots (organic ones like the cyborg in robocop that has a brain which must be fed to sustain that living organ?) Now before you judge realise this: in DYRL they have a brain in a jar controlling a ship. This is just one example I can think of where the PC use organic things and connect them to manufactured things. And it reminds me of the bioroid from southern cross. Could these ideas have been floating in the creator's minds back then? It doesn't seem that far out to me. Global mentions something about not being sure he believes that humans are the PC/zentradi, but the similarities can't be denied. What if the atlantean race in DYRL specially-designed only certain individuals to be more evolved than others just like how the zentradi have some clones (like britai) stronger than others for control purposes? It doesn't seem that out there why they wouldn't just clone britai since he is stronger than all the other ones below himself, unless they had a good reason. So similarly the humans that don't have the powers of the PC descendants, can be thought of as the equivalent of the zentradi grunt, while pc descendants are the equivalent of a bodol or britai. (but instead of more evolved physically, the PC are just more evolved mentally - like how the newtypes consider themselves more evolved than the old types?) Now the same sort of thing happens in the X-men: the mutants think they are more evolved than humans, and humans have to build robots (sentinels) to keep up with them. I see it as the PC purposely stunting our evolution on purpose so that the mayan descendants of PC who were designed differently have a way of controlling us. (so no, I predict you will not see pilots with powers, just the select rare few characters, linked to the ancient atlantean culture that visited earth to get away from the giants' war of the sexes) Technically it won't be humans with the powers, just the select few mayans who were put here by the "star people" to watch us. The magic wasn't for greedy intent like in RPGs but as protection against the less evolved humans who would eventually fight. (so using esp, seeing visions of a death could be like an early warning of danger vs using a radar or a telescope to see the danger coming using a tool/machine to help)
  7. Bandai can make the hands. While yamato does the rest of the valk.
  8. Be sure to post all the pics of it at various angles and stuff and review it when you do. Are there any pics of it in gerwalk mode?
  9. I like the classics grimlock transformation better than G1 grimlock. I wonder if they will ever do all the other dinobots for the classic/universe line?
  10. I'm disapointed in the aoshima version. I was hoping they were going to fix everything wrong with the toynamis.
  11. If you've seen the movie Akira a similar thing is happening and the government is interested in certain people they could use to study ESP, Telekinesis, and then possibly make their own psychic soldiers (think M.Bison from "street fighter II" with his Psycho Powers) or if possible a living "god". In the movie the experiment backfires and the psychic power goes out of control causing a atomic bomb-like effect killing many people. So at the end a similar thing happens but he dies and goes to heaven where he belongs because he is too dangerous. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akira_%28manga%29 If macross just presented it in a more obvious way (have an episode explaining who the mayan islanders were and why the government wants to study them) in the same way of akira or the "newtype" in gundam then I think people who like to have explanations will be happy. Nobody ever doubts the "jedi force power" in star wars because from the point of view of a jedi it's not "magic" but a discipline with rules that work for them. But in macross the average guy can't float, make plants grow fast, move objects with their minds, so it is just "magic" to them. (if the x-men were real and you were just a normal human without the mutant power, you would think they were "magic" powers wouldn't you? Even though there is a distinction made within x-men between "magic" and mutant powers. ie Juggernaut's super strength comes from some ancient thing that grants him power unlike say the character Rogue where the it's just accepted that her power is "scientific". From a person who never heard of "mutants" they wouldn't know the difference between the magic and science, just see the inhuman strength) Just think of the mayans as being like a shaolin monk whose fighting ability is kept secret, so it's not commonly known. To them it appears normal, to you as magic but that's your perception of it. It's no different to the bald chics in Minority Report trying to use their precog power to predict events before they happen or neo in the matrix having the ability to "dodge" bullets which would be too fast for a human to do. He would have to be "psychic" to maybe predict that they were going to fire there and move early making it seem like magic. The secret training might not be well known or shared widely for scientists to observe it, that's all. It's still science just not well known. Now I'm not saying that macross NEEDs this to be good, but that if the PC were just like us humans, they would have to have something similar: their own ancient ruins, science, art, songs, weapons, and given they are older than humans, much of it isn't understood by the humans yet. In many RPGs the "magic" is usually you as a wizard casting a spell and it's elements of "nature" (wind, fire, water, earth) against man-made technology. (dude wearing some armor, a monster built in lab from unnatural means, mechanical machines made by governments to invade) So a wiccan would be our real world equivalent, some invisible power nobody understands (how it works) being called/summoned for help. So I ask: Why wouldn't the PC have their own versions of this given we stem from them? I'm not asking people to like it, (because I agree that if it was explained better people wouldn't have a big beef over it, just like how they accept star wars' "force powers") just that if gundam and star wars has and even mospeada has a alien witch, why does macross have to be restricted to not having it?
  12. You could say the giants themselves were superhumans because britai was able to survive in space without a spacesuit. They didn't just tack on his ability in later shows. He really is more powerful than the zentradi grunts who after britai fell to the ground in the battroid fight against hikaru and asked him if he was ok, mentioned "I was not built as fragile as you" so the PC may have found a way to clone all these superhuman guys and base their entire reasearch on cloning and then later on trying to meld technology with organic creatures who were "self sufficient". (like how the fish doesn't need scuba suit to survive in water, or a bird doesn't need a plane to fly) *what I mean is if they can survive in hostile environments for a short time they won't need the suit like a weaker creature would. So this leaves open the possibility of the PC taking some alien creature's ability to survive in space (like the space whale) and through genetics, making a mutant creature which can also survive in that environment for a short time. So just as dolphins are not fish, (and need to come out of the water at some point for air) they could make humans with "super" abilities like resistance to diseases, bioweapons, hostile environments etc, while giving them things like the ability to heal fast, or dense bones that allows them to crush a Valkyrie with their bare hands and use their own strength to rip the chest plate off without the use of a tool like a crowbar. ie the creature is independant of tools/tech. They *become* the weapon itself in the same way the xenomophs in the "Aliens" movies are self sufficient weapons without need for repair or maintenance crews or needing oil to run. They are just "natural" weapons.
  13. Well here is the thing: they kinda sorta did it with bubble gum crisis 2040AD. Isn't this just a retelling of BGC 2032 AD for a newer generation without the 80s music which isn't as appealing to the younger gen? But the difference is no CHANGES. (it's SDF:M but without the shitty animation and mistakes so that a new generation can see it and buy it without complaining. Just as a newer generation has been exposed to BGC through BGC 2040AD. Even though fans are annoyed at the changes to the suits, they can still get the original 2032 BGC, so there is no worries.) Just fix everything (undo all the animation mistakes like the wrong colours used when max and kakazaki and hikaru are fighting britai) and redo everything (do NOT mix the old with newer animation so it doesn't stick out) but ENHANCE it. (so knife fight is scrapped in favour of decent animation. Will it ever be done? Nobody knows. But I'd buy a newer updated SDF:M that could appeal to a new generation of fans exposed to macross F who might be interested in the history of Space War I in the timeline of the macross universe. Just as transformers has "the great war", (reffering to G1 in transformers animated) or UC gundam has the "one year war" (reffering to Amuro Ray's battles in the original rx-78) so macross has "Space War I" which is the foundation upon which all these later shows stand on. Really though, if you say yes, and you'd buy it, then regardless of if they do it, it at least shows them that there is a demand for it. When everyone says: "but it will have lucas-like changes to the canon with additions that weren't supposed to be there" do bring up good points, but that is not what is being asked: if you could fix all those little mistakes that pissed you off, would you buy the enhanced fixed version? For me I don't want changes, but want newer anime watchers to at least not be frightened to see older anime just because of the quality of the animation. I like the original just as I like the blade runner version without the commentary. Just that for the sake of the fanbase, they could release a better version of SDF:M as a introduction to newer fans to macross. If a newer generation of fan wants to see SDF:M (as a prequel to macross F and macross 7?) because they were not born when SDF:M was made, but don't want to see the old show because it's too crappy, they will then have the opportunity to see SDF:M with good animation, while fans of SDF:M will be able to get a definitive version with fixes. There is a first time for everything. Just don't think of it as a "remake" but a fixing of mistakes and a newer edition with enhanced frames. (did gundam have the same number of animation mistakes as macross?) The OVA like quality of macross F will have spoiled the newer macross fans even more so they will be even more harsh on an old SDF:M then we are. But if they fix up the mistakes, (improve the knife fight, redraw the bits that were poorly drawn, fix the colours) and maybe enhance the animation (add in more frames for smoother motion) then people (newer macros fans) won't be as scared to watch old anime and can concentrate on the story.
  14. Ok then let's just say it was american macross fans then. DR.Chiba is like a character from ghostbusters though. That is the lighter tone of 7 (like the light comedy of ghostbusters) drew them off because they were into a more serious tone from SDF:M (even though it's a show about a singing idol able to stop aliens from killing hehe) One thing I do like about 7 (and in a sense robotech) was how they used rock, just that by overusing it too much it kinda annoys some people for the repetition. Maybe if macross 7 was an ova (like the original bubblegum crisis which had thrash metal/rock as a theme song for each episode) and Macross zero was a tv series, americans would all be happier? With space monsters, so far we have the usage of the military again. Just as in Space War I how their usage of the grand cannon was a big factor in helping to take out some of the zentradi, here the usage of ordinary pilots in macross F with skills is helping makes it seem grounded in reality again. Unlike in 7 where everyone was helpless against the monsters without the hero basara in his custom VF-19. I think it's that realism from SDF:M that people want back. That if you fight the things there are casualties. Not everyone is going to be happy, although the music is going to help, some people still can be immune to it. (just as in SDF:M kamjin learnt to accept culture but STILL be a little crazy and dangerous character, post-war. Able to still kill the remaining humans and be a real threat.) Music shouldn't be the silver bullet as it was in 7, just one way of "fighting" to bring peace. This is why SDF:M was "realistic" because it balanced it all, (grand cannon, music, love triangle, need for skill in fights etc) and didn't make characters too one dimensional. A character like kamjin can still be 'cultured' but still want to rape and pillage; which in turn, brings a need for the physical, conventional weapons to exist too. The bad guys can still 'love' but still have their own personal grudges and fight. (just as humans fought wars after the alien ship landed on earth and can't be considered innocent saints just because they have pop idols) At the end of bubble gum crisis the knight sabers don't say that genom is totally evil even though they fight their boomer robots. They acknowledge that as vigilantes they are using the profits from taking on jobs from anyone to fight genom, but not totally eradicate the company which although it does make weapons of war, it still brings benefits to society through the technological advances seen which the government can use. What would be interesting is if in macross F they have a Sara-like character who hates machines (because they are associated with war) but relies on them for everyday things. I dunno just give them more character depth instead of being saints like basara, which is not realistic to a normal person. Also because that's not how a person would react to danger unless they were newtypish in piloting skill. These are scary monsters FFS.
  15. Also whatever happens if they decide to go with it, don't change the sound effects. I like the gunpod and old laser sound effect. Also the robotic, echoey, "humm" of the valkyrie as it moves is part of the nostalaia too. So don't change that. (like the sound in dyrl after hikaru kills bodolza and all you hear during that silence is the humming noise when he moves the robot a bit.) My fave gunpod noise is the VF-11 one at the start of macross plus though.
  16. Sorry 'new' just meaning 'new for me'. I had the NLA DYRL and decided one day that "evirus" was pissing me off. I didn't make that clear in the original post. "v2" is the one I have: http://grayphantom.edwardk.info/index.php So is there going to be a hq release of mac + movie?
  17. This is one reason I am glad they never went with a predator movie remake. Or an aliens remake. I like the effects and makeup and costumes in them and would hate to see stuff just taken out and other stuff put in. It's part of history. The only exception to this rule is if the original work is also still made available to fans and not completely taken away. I think the only reason we want a newer SDF:M is so we don't have to see the bad animation. I think it would be doable without adding something, and I would buy the new dvd of it. But, if fans love the un-enhanced version they should just allow them to buy that too. Honestly it's not that big a deal, look at how they've release blade runner on dvd. You can still get the originals and the new final cut. Completists will have nothing to complain about if they did try to enhance it. DYRL in a sense was our "enhanced" beautified SDF:M only that was "retelling it". What I imagine would be SDF:M exactly how it was supposed to look as the original tv series, but enhanced to be just like DYRL. (in terms of the quality of the animation's smoothness only) So for example the knife fight would have max using proper attempts to dodge the individual miria knife stabs, and we'd see his body moving away while milia lunges at him. Not both of them standing there doing E.Honda's special move with a knife. Maybe instead of an enhancement (replacing bad animation with good animation) they could do a "remake-enhancement". (that is redo ALL the animation (throwing out even the good animation in the old tv series) but copy everything that was good and replace the old good animation with new good animation, as well as the usual replacing of the old bad animation with good new animation. This way everything looks consistent! So you don't get old good animation mixed with new good animation. They are both "good" but they might not belong side to side, and the old stuff might just stick out too much from the new stuff. in summary: good animation old - scrapped in favour of new good animation that is exactly the same thing but better. bad animation old - scrapped and replaced with new good animation. I want "eureka 7"-like level of smoothness and consistency. As if the remake was designed soley to be the thing that a) fixes animation mistakes, b) designed to interest a new veiwer who has just watched macross F, (and has been spoiled by the smooth frames and attention to detail) and c) also to milk existing fans of SDF:M of more money. (that is to say we as fans are paying for this new enhancement to fix all of what was wrong in the tv series so we don't mind buying it. Like the robotech fans buying the robotech remaster dvd hehe ) So although the word "remake" might seem a bit scary to "purists", don't think of the "remake-enhancement" as a remake of the story so much as the "fixing of errors" and "boosting of quality" of what was already in there. (not a changing of the content itself: no additions, retellings, changes to events, altering of camera, or taking away things that belonged there in the original) Essentially we dream of DYRL style smoothness, but in a tv series we can own on dvd and say "this is the definitive version!". (no animation mistakes, no poor animefriend eps, no objects mysteriously *disappearing from one scene to another etc) A remake-enhancement wouldn't change anything that was "originally supposed to be there"/"not be there", but just improve everything across the board as if to be the same thing as what you already own, but "fixed". *roys rescue of hikaru and minmay when he detached the nose/cockpit section of the VF-1 and runs from the zentradi regults and flies into space to meet the SDF-1. (the cockpit which hikaru and minmay were attached to on roy's VF-1 disappears)
  18. SDF:M was about space war I. It is the foundation upon which all the other shows stand on. That can never be taken away from it. (it is the equivalent of the "one year war" event in UC in terms of significance) However, because of this, you can't have another event like that repeating in the same way you can with gundam. The zentradi are friendly, they are cultured, the anti-un has been beaten. The only way is to go forward and maybe have another threat in space on the same scale as what you had in space war I. (but with a new race of aliens) Maybe in the new series they decide to bring back destroids and use them for operations on the ground where sneaking up is useful (just like in Gundam 8th MS Team) and transforming is unecessary. And we get something we haven't seen before. The only way for SW I to be topped is if the new enemy is more intelligent than us, better armed, more numerous, and mysterious (such that it requires we learn about them before being able to fight effectively against them) so that it feels just like the good ole SDF:M in terms of seriousness/danger. Macross 7 was during a time of peace, so frontier might be set during a disaster that balloons and engulfs all the civilisation out in space who can't protect themselves and forced to fight if they wish to survive. (bu I don't really get that vibe judging by what happned in Zero where the PC birdman left us alone and ran away) SDF:M is like in a sense what space battleship yamato was like: the whole world was going to be invaded and the responsiblity rested on a single ship to succeed. (earth was destroyed in macross anyway but at least they won the war ) That kind of scale needs to be matched in the future show but this time several worlds have to fight again. (I honestly don't think rogue zentradi without any education are a match for humans anymore)
  19. Yeah but unlike lucas they could make it so you could still buy the original SDF: macross if you liked it more. Just as you can still buy the old astroboy over the new one. Or the old bubblegum crisis. Ah well not like they'd ever do it anyway.
  20. Macross needs bugs imo. Mospeada had them. And it fits in well with the islanders being so nature loving because they must have experienced destruction in ancient times so they want to preserve life. Weapons of war being seen as evil enriches the franchise and makes them seem more realistic. You now have humans technology mixed with pc, islanders with brains designed to interface with the highest of all technology (like an ancient key - you've seen this in many indiana jones style adventure movies where the world's religious artifacts are believed to have magic occult powers and must be gathered together in order to obtain ultimate power and every bounty hunter in the movie mutually uses each other to get it and then backstabs the other to keep it all for themselves) , mind-controlled giants used for warfare by the PC, possessed biological weapons which came to life when a spirit from another dimension took control of them but required the souls of the victims to feed upon (lets just call them "space demons from space hell", like the story of the vampire who is forced to kill humans and feed on people it loves despite having some emotions and not liking it so we feel pity for the "misunderstood monster" like in those old monster movies where the villagers demand to have it hunted and killed to feel at peace due to fear). Bugs are the next enemy. PC must have experimented in many different things because they were so smart. All the mystery about origins of humans and creation of zentradi is like one long backstory. Maybe we evolved from the bugs, and these bugs are our brothers but unlike us just have smarter brains? (like how monkeys are like dumber versions of humans? And that might explain why the bugs seem like piloted mecha?) I wonder if harmony gold would block a release of macross f if it didn't have the un spacy kite symbol? Is the mystery of why there is no un spacy kite symbol anymore, to do with some attempt to bring future macross shows into other regions? Maybe they can explain that the government changed the logo by that year, because the old one looked crap to them? The reason I like gundam is that it is in basic form just a show about a knight fighting for peace. Going to war with others to end war. It's sword (beam saber) and shield (the special armor) is what makes it the hero robot because it doesn't need to use guns and can disarm the attacker in a peaceful way if it wants to. In macross you don't have a hero, but an ordinary joe who gets caught up in real world events surrounding him and being an unlikely hero, is able to save people without necessarily being of any importance to the rest of the universe. The original reason for saving the damsel in distress is out of an emotion to protect the cute girl and have her like you. But it then matures into something more: protect everything. It's really the core of what makes a hero likeable because they are doing it out of unselfish reasons. Although they are both mecha shows with robots, I find the core for what makes SDF:Macross unique is the "grounding in reality" that it brings to the universe. Hikaru is not amuro ray with a psychic ability, just a skilled pilot using training. He can die easily if he is in the wrong place just like a cannon fodder, so there is that sense of danger we all want. (this enemy is a serious and very real threat! some of this was lost in macross 7 and one of the main reasons people criticise it as a sailor moon "monster of the week" show. The show even plays with your mind by titling one episode: "Basara Dies!" and then having him come back to life ) So long as the characters are kept grounded in reality and seem like real people, not unstoppable heroes like Basara, I think the fans of SDF:M won't worry so much. Southern cross and mospeada had flat characters, death was not common for the main characters, (no danger) and after the war was over you really didn't wonder: "so what happened later after the war?" like you did for SDF:M where you wondered what happened to the three main characters. That is what the adults like imo: it's the soap opera element that you didn't get from mospeada and SC, where the world exists beyond the three characters and when they grow old and age, life still goes on just as in the real world. (the events are later noted in whatever sequel is made for their significance) But as I mentioned, that space war I is now over, so there needs to be some new threat or a new thing for humans to see. SDF:M told its story, and the fact is new stories need to be told that gives us a bit more info rather than a repeat of the same thing like with gundam. Ie the story of a lone knight fighting for "justice and peace" but while doing so, not actually killing people to achieve the goals. (which if it did kill, would make it a hypocrite no different than the trained soldiers fighting for the government or politicians for power or control) SDF:M = the soap DYRL = war story of two sexes who make love after almost killing each other Plus = top gun Zero = indiana jones (antiun and un are just rival bounty hunters archealogists fighting over ancient treasure for power) 7 = monster of the week show hopefully macross f is more like SDF:M (grounding in reality, feels like a soap with drama/realism/sadness) but not a retread of old things like gundam. (which is the criticism I often see about it: it's just milking an old idea to make new toys to sell to children, instead of expanding and making the new show different) If they just show the limits of the characters, we get more realism, danger, drama.
  21. Variable glaug and the vf-4
  22. People feel that if yamato could produce some of the mecha from say mac7, we'd probably have our max and milia vf-22 by now I reckon. As I said: if you had a choice between having nothing or something would you choose to have something or nothing? If there was no vf-11 or vf22 from mac7, and you know bandai can easily make a PG quality toy but still don't attempt it due to macross not being popular enough to warrant as much attention/love as gundam, how can you say you're as happy not having those those things which could have been provided for by another company? See my point? Bandai is great for gundam, but maybe for macross they treat it differently, taking very little risk, putting less effort than they would gundam, and so there are missed opportunities to see the collector stuff we've got from yamato. Maybe they will just go for the kids toy market and not bother with adult collectors of toys? So far no "Perfect Grade" max and milia vf-22 from bandai yet, right? Could it have something to do with the perception that they think macross is too dead to be worth the effort to have made it? That the fanbase is too small so it's silly for a big company to put it at the top priority for toys to be made? We *hope* they can prove us wrong. So come on everyone: make sure enough people can paint them as a boogeyman to see what response they will give us in the form of "Perfect Grade" quality macross F goodies to show us what they are able to do with the license. I'm sure even for 10 years ago they could have made a better toy than the chunky mac 7 toys. (have you seen the pathetic landing gear for the vf-17 - that is just lazy man. No excuses.)
  23. I'm not refusing to support them. Just that if they can't deliver, then how can you support them? If they didn't make a vf-11 from macross 7, didn't make any vf-22,....as a fan wouldn't you rather another company who wants to do it, have a shot at doing it? Having even the slightest concern that bandai might not make the most out of the license gets a reaction from people as if we insulted their mother. --> cool your jets, we aren't angry at them. Just thinking what's best for all. (that having the most options is always better for fans of macross than having less options)
  24. ...Sums(dumgai ) up my thoughts on the matter. Put some serious effort into macross f then you will get the praise. We all love bandai, just worried what sort of attitude they will have towards the license. A: let's just do nothing so other toy companies can't have it. So long as we have it, no one else can. B: who cares? we won't make much money from macross compared to our other robot show so let's only put half the effort into it. or C: we are so grateful to have the rights to make the toys, let's try the best we can. The ideal being they will care enough about macross compared to what other companies have done, and try to beat them in every category that matters by going with C. Nothing personal bandai.
  25. The black ride armor the war reporter chic used towards the end of the show would be good. CMs smaller size and less detail may make it look more cheap to MH, but I can see myself wanting to get more than one because of it. And yeah I do want to display one with rider and bike just like how some people like to display valkyries in different modes. I have three banpresto cheapy valks displayed on top of my monitor in each mode and never have to worry about transforming them all the time hehe
