  1. Excellent by the time they get to the skinny vf-11 there will be no fear of cracking hips. You're not joking, BOB is the QC guy? I think he should do the reviews too, graham is too slow! What chances are there of a near prob-free first release 21 and 11 going by this news?
  2. Yes give us some of the variable glaugs. I like both types. Those who didn't buy the overpriced qrau are killing the chances of seeing new and more risky stuff. No wonder they keep milking the vf-1 *sigh* It's like if hasbro only ever did the optimus prime figure in MP and nothing else. I love the hero mecha as much as the next guy but it's time to move on people.
  3. Yeah. Give it also a Baton and shotgun as well as an omni consumer products logo on the shield. There would also be a speaker pod gun with a strap so you could strap it to its back like the one on the gunpod of the vf-1 though. The shield and baton are for when there are riots. speaker pod gun would be for space when they need to tell them to pull over if they couldn't hear the siren in space. For easy use the three close quaters combat moves are: Pinpoint barrier punch to the face. Shield ram to push them back baton swirl which leads into smack to the knee. Combined with the exo suits (make bubble gum crisis versions of those) the police will be able to properly control violent destroid crimes. The police would only call in the labor crime unit for these types of crimes involving mecha-jacked valkries which the ordinary police can't handle because the valkries fly too fast. Many criminals will prefer to spacefold by the time the police get there so speed is of utmost importance. The zentradi gangs living in the poorer neighborhood areas of the city cause a lot of trouble for the purebred humans who don't tolerate the troublemakers since the first space war. So these cops need to be ready for when the big fights break out and drunken zentradi start getting in their vintage destroids to hold their illegal street fights after being depressed that there is barely any space to hold street races aboard a colony ship. In the old days it was just bikie gangs, now its people with illegally obtained mecha holding fighting tournaments and organised fight clubs underground in heavily modified robots due to boredom. Much more dangerous.
  4. huh? Minmay doesn't sing in macross plus. I didn't think the dub for plus was actually that bad. I think you might be thinking of robotech which has nothing to do with macross plus. The only thing that I don't like about plus is how everyone has the mthrfkn huge-ass pointy noses which i've never seen before happen much in anime. The cloning process must have been a failure. They got all the people with pointy noses and made too many of them.
  5. Looks good. So are these ride armors the best out there?
  6. It reminds me a bit of patlabor for some reason. The yf-19 would make a great police use robot. Put some sirens on the shoulders and paint it to look like a police car. Also give it a little revolver. When a criminal tries to fly away it can transform into a fighter and do a police chase like the valks in one of the macross 7 OVAs. Maybe even put a loud speaker on the "mouth" so it can shout at people to stop. VF-1 by then will be collector's items for rich people who collect planes.
  7. full Barrier system within the city set to autmatically activate on buildings surrounding the area where the fighting is. Easy Then they call in the monster to finish off whatever is left of the unarmored parts of the insect. If that doesn't work, they lure the insect into a fold booster "cage" using the little girls as bait.. Once is steps inside, lock the insect inside a full barrier, and fold the insect to a random location in space like how ripley managed to flush the queen alien out of the airlock in "Aliens". You might bring the cage with you but you can make new ones. They accidentally did that in SDFM when the fold drives vanished. Repeat that trick on the insect to make it vanish.
  8. The ghost is going to be the hero of the show. Alto will end up getting hurt in a horrible accident, they transfers his brain into a new experimental cyborg body. This cyborg is then wirelessly in communication with the ghosts so it can see everything ahead of time and process all the information instantly. Alto then uses these ghosts as gundam style "Bits" combined with his tough body to be able to fly at much higher speeds than is humanely possible, but he is unable to love people without real sexual organs. He then becomes an emo cyborg wishing to have his old body cloned again and his mind transferred back into it. Only the military won't let him. Alto goes crazy, and in a kamjin-like backstabber moment of fury, turns all the ghosts against the government and joins the bug race to hunt down the lost PC descendants. The bugs betray him because they just can't trust him, and he then in a char like moment turn against the leader to win the war. After the war nothing is ever heard of him again.
  9. I bet the appearance of the bugs has something to do with the rogue zentradi. How do we know they didn't macronise these like they did with the giant chicken leg, and then arm them with weapons? I think the idea of giant chickens are actually scarier though. What was really said was: "the macronised bug has made its arrival. The zentradi have bred more of them as they know they can't repair so they are using cheaply made biological weapons on us again, scared to be contaminated by culture shock." But the bug got smarter and broke free from the labs and infested the rogue zentradi ships with eggs and now its running free. The rogue zentradi are helping it for fear that it will target them instead.
  10. Spacy. I want to kill rogue zentradi Qrau pilots and use the strike canon. That weapon isn't on the normal valks so it means you will have to go up to space to use it. You also get to fold in space so there plenty of fuel to waste. Only problem is there is nothing to hide behind for cover. Maybe it's easier to get surrounded from all sides by always being out in the open. Those micromissile swarms are nasty.
  11. It can still be serious and realistic with magic though. For example the antigravity the humans use to lift the ships may relate to how the mayan priestess could self-levitate the rocks and fly around on them. Their powers might be just as 'real' as nostrodamus predictions, haunted houses, or the possibility of aliens with more knowledgeable scientists than our own who lived in a much older civilisation and had access to superior tech living somewhere in the universe who left clues on earth through ancient ruins and vanished and then left the planet before us. What's understood naturally by sophisticated races could be seen as magic by more "uncivilised" races. So a torch and a candle might be a more primitive way to see in the dark, because fire is common, but if you use a lightbulb and that person has never seen something like it before, they will think you had some magic power. some examples: -The natural version of Folding might be teleportation (a super power in many comic books) -using head lasers to shoot down missiles, might be poorer version of using tentacles. (entangles groups of them rather than shooting each one by one) -antigravity abilities are replaced by levitation using the mind (flying characters in comic books like superman) -communication using your mouth might be replaced by probing of someone's mind psychically to read their feelings (jedi mind tricks in star wars, newtypes feeling pain of their slain enemies in gundam) -eating food could be replaced by absorbing energy through the skin like a solar panel (an organic-looking robot which looks like a real lizard but inside it's a sophisticated environmentally-friendly mecha) etc I don't see how having magic = not serious. It just seems more "mythical/untrue/psuedo-scientific" because it's just seen from the point of view of humans who are a young race compared to other aliens where stuff that is written about that sounds impossible for us may be a reality to them. So an alien race of cat people that can see well in the dark might be more sensitive to some moving objects at night or hear things we can't because of the way we humans are physically wired in our brains or limited hearing and sense of smell for example. Just because we don't know about it doesn't mean it must be actual magic. You could say that for example in macross F, the insect creature has a portable version of a grand cannon or a macross cannon in its body which requires very little energy to power compared to ours, so it appears like magic. Just as tiny computers could seem magical to people a century ago because of how small and how little power they consume. (computers once needed a whole room of space) The protoculture then, could just have miniturised versions of what we possess (using nature) and also be more power efficient, (guzzling less energy so smaller creatures can use them) which to us lower life forms, it must look 'magical' because we never knew it could be possible. (so much so that the levitiation and warping and communication is really just performed biologically and organically, rather than artificially which relies on machines that need oil to run or parts to physically make by hand or from polluting factories) Even though the religious priestesses (like the jedi knights with a high 'midicloron' count) are anti tech, (jedi knights don't like blasters) they could have their own version of things which are just more natural/better but don't which don't rely so much on other people to fix. (ie a self repairing organic robot that heals itself naturally vs a mecha that requires maintenance by a crew of people who will oil and grease and replace broken parts) And I don't think midicloren counts are mentioned anywhere in the original trilogy but something that was added later. (prequel trilogy movies were not made at the same time as origial trilogy ones) So it falls into the category of "tacking extra stuff on" that doesn't belong. Now if star wars can get away with it, how come macross can't? (by fleshing out the world with the "magic powers" theme and linking it to "genetic manipulation of humans" talked about in SDF:Macross?) The ancient legends of bird humans (people that could levitate/fly) is just macross' version of star wars "clone wars" where you might have heard mention of some event that happened in early times and it gets explained in more details. So just like how humans were inspired to attempt to fly by seeing birds do it, the PC could have been inspired to 'teleport' (fold) by studying a bunch of teleporting frogs from some remote planet before they could duplicate it artificially for themselves with technology, similar to how we can make artificial hearts that pump blood which replace the real ones, or learn to walk by watching adults as a child and copying it. Humans are essentially the more savage version of the PC in the same way that a person using a bow and arrow to shoot and knives to cut you close range is a more savage version of a soldier with a gun to shoot and sidearm to defend upclose. The tech is just different but from the point of view of those who don't understand how it works or can't produce it in factories, its voodoo. A rocket going into space could be seen as a magic tower with wings. A flying plane might be seen as a featherless bird with magic firey powers. (bombs) Robots are magic horned demon giants that fire lightning from their eyes. (head laser) They might use different terminology using a description that is primitive. A sound weapon could be used by a race of alien to heal (relaxes the target) or harm (makes dogs howl due to their sensitive hearing) something. Its song causing earthquakes or shattering objects. Maybe it will take the form of a wind god or a earth god to some primitive civilisation that doesn't understand it, but there is some natural explanation which is recreatable with further study. Whatever energy it was could be feeded to some alien organism which either is harmed or healed by it. The sound could also be a switch to turn on a voice-activated mechanism of some sort that reacts to the energy. To the alien designed to respond it wouldn't be magic, but a switch in their brain that gets them to react in a certain way. (like how a snake will sense vibrations on the ground and interpret them based on how violent it was and this triggers an emotion like fear)
  12. They might need to torture them and make them do some hard work to make them suffer before dying. (like that scene in the first conan movie where arnie is forced to push a wheel that doesn't DO anything! ) Perhaps they need to experiment on us like lab rats like to find out the limits to the human body and to recreate more humanoid acting versions of themselves so they can sneak better? This will make them seem all the more cruel. Remember that scene when sarah was being stabbed by the t1000 in t2? And he said: I know this hurts... The robots need to find the most painful methods to get information from humans before they go on and capture the key leaders who can tell them the whereabouts of all the underground bases. They need to show that gradual evolution from dumb ass drone robot that just shoots anything that moves, to a sophisticated assassin that can trick you by mimmicking your behaviour and predicting where you go and "tracking" you and hunting you down. I thought no.1 was good for this reason since it wasn't just action action action like no.2. You see arnie using his brains by mimmicking sarah's mom's voice on the phone. They are learning like humans. They are the cop in your neighbohood, your boss at work, and that's why you gotta buy a dog that can sniff people's crotches to know if you're not being watched by a terminator. It's scary because they are smart and learning stuff, not just because they can take a lot of bullets. It's like if megaman X ever turned evil, then you would have the terminator hunting humans instead of rogue robots. I know I've said it in a previous post but if they just show the terminators as being dumb but really strong, it will make them seem a little less scary because really all that means is humans need a stronger weapon. But you can't fight what you can't "see" (they are hiding in thhe shadows as a stranger stalking you or impersonating someone else) and that's why they are really scary because they want to be like us and copy us and stuff so you never know if you can trust machines anymore. Bring back that Paranoia of movies like The Thing or Cape Fear. Where the machines are not methodical and predicatable and slow as a zombie, but adapting to what you do and knowing how you think.
  13. The first terminator had some cool "flashbacks" of the future war. I want this to be dark not bright and clear like t3. Also since it is full on war, it should be like a saving private ryan with robots killing the humans and putting them in concentration camps and marking them with lasers and poo that reese talked about in no.1 Rubber skinned models should be shown (giving us the evolution of the terminators from unrealistic versions to the bad breath ones with human skin). If this sucks then all they have to do is create another movie that tells us how they went back in time to prevent the events in this movie from ever happening so they can leave the franchise open for a better retelling of the future. the first movie should be a post apoc survival horror affair with barely an escape (treat it like a zombie movie: the terminator is the 'monster' and the soldiers are victims like the soldiers in the predator movies who think they can beat it, but die pathetically one by one for underestimating its intelligence) second movie is the actual war where they've got the resistance up and running and rescuing humans from the pow camps and finding new weaknesses and limits to the machines. Shows the rise of JC and the training of the soldiers on how to hunt the terminators. (arnie models start to appear more often by this time) Kyle Reese is a young soldier who survives from a pow camp. (show us how he got the mark on his arm) He has a thing for older women and likes John Conner's mom and thinks she's a MILF. third movie: humans have reverse engineered the technology and using proper futuristic weapons. Terminators are more sophisticated able to trick humans into thinking they are real humans. (t1000s are morphing into replica versions of key human leaders leading them into ambushes. kinda like that "war hero" in mospeada) Only specially trained dogs and sophisticated sensors will tell the difference between them. The only trustworthy machines are the ones the humans hacked so they use teams of these to fight. John Conner gets assasinated by the newer morphing terminator which disguised itself as the arnie model he trusted. (the arnie model was later reprogrammed to kill humans by the t1000 and this is the one you see going back in time to the first terminator movie since it knows the most about john from its memory of his face and experience with him in the resistance) The ending sequence (like the end of star wars episode III linking OT with PT) shows Reese is sent back to 80s to save the mom who he will bang furiously to create a new john conner (completing his mission) and to pass the message on: "the future is not set". the end. It's an endless loop that prevents the machines from winning by allowing people in the present to fight them in their everyday lives and decisions they make. (ie military rejecting to use robots as soldiers so they can't turn against you) The leaderless resistance obviously never beats the machines and its a stalemate where the machines keep getting smarter and learning our strategies the longer they fight us, that is until the end of the world comes. (when machines kill their own leaders because they were built to be like us causing the extinction of terminators as they nuke the entire planet in a global civil war. )
  14. She had a scar on her chest and was really into kicking the crap out of Shin so she must have had a grudge against un soldiers in general going by that scene. And the flashback images of war and little children crying while getting bombed on and stuff... I think when you used the word "cartoon" to describing anime often when there is war imagery with gorey deaths.. is *funny. *It's just that the word "cartoon" always conjures up images of Warner Brothers-style exaggerated violence and humour not the type of semi-realistic violence in shows like ninja scroll or legend of the overfiend etc. I never really think of anime as cartoons, but more like comic books in animated form.
  15. But the VB6 Monster came out, and 1/60 Qrau came out. Maybe they are feeling lucky? At some point later down the track after the popular stuff is released I would love to see the unpopular destroids. Yamato have milked you all enough of the vf-1 and there are so many other companies releasing toys of the other popular mecha. These are cheaper toys so maybe the risk is less for the releasing of the less popular stuff?
  16. Thinking about taking the plunge and getting a second release roy vf0S with ghost. So scary.. I wonder if there will be the reactive armor made for this?
  17. It's rare. That's the main reason. It's also got nice low visibility stickers, panel lining, and the grey looks good for vf-1 if you can imagine the thing to have existed in the real world. It also comes with a different pilot than the one you see in macross. I like it in the same way I like the cannon fodder vf-11b just because the plain-ness gives it a more gritty appearance as a killing machine and not some kids toy in high contrast primary colours living in an anime world where all kinds of strange paintscheme that make the mecha more visually appealing are only going to give you away and make you easy to spot. You never see destroids painted in funny colours (ok maybe in the robot carnival in macross 7 ) so why valkyrie fighters? For this reason I wish the fighters in DYRL were grey and not white.
  18. *crosses fingers the first release of the 21s are good.*
  19. A zentradi soldier is a flesh and blood person. Not a mecha. Wouldn't you rather the chicken walking machines or a Qrau they use to fight in over the pilot? Seems kinda strange to want an action figure of the pilot. The mecha are the focus of the fighting. I'll take a zentradi power armor over the giant itself any day.
  20. More pics of these things would be nice. I'm interested in how they capture the look of the lineart in battroid mode. Remember that whenever a robot appears in battroid mode in anime it's starts to get popeye's forearm muscles, exagerated thickness in the legs to make it look tougher than it really is, and certain features like shoulders are spread apart for a more intimidating look. (which is why I like having the bandai 1/65 stuff in battroid mode because it seems like they deliberately target the robot fan over the fighter mode fan) The big hands!!!! No more unstable girly wrists that wobble around when you try to get it to hold the gunpods. I think I will end up collecting these starting with my fave robots from the macross plus ova. But as always my main priority is still the PT valks. Destroids would kick ass since they'd not lose anything being in a non-transforming line. If they do the destroids: could you pleease make them to scale against the vf-1 though? I see myself putting a destroid near a VF-1 but not necesarily putting vf-1 near any macross plus valks. And yeah if they do the glaug, maybe they could also have the glaug booster attachment in a giftset arrangment?
  21. Basara. He's floating out there in space jamming the signal because the monster is on an endangered species list and wants to preserve it for future generations.
  22. I wouldn't be surprised if reaction weapons fail, I remember the space whale wasn't killed when they used them. This thing might survive.
  23. The monsters might not be monsters though, just that we think they are. How do we know that they aren't sophisticated biological computers which psycho-kinetically interfere with the machines? If sara could create her own barrier in macross zero, float, make rocks move, communicate telepathically to her sister, create holograms of herself in people's minds, then why not a space monster creating emp? The interference trick worked for the zentradi in the early episodes where the reguld could hide in the water. The monster might have some mutant power and perhaps being intelligent enough was able to manipulate the PC radar thing which the technology humans use is reliant on to attack stealthily. Without that special radar, they couldn't find the AFOS. Or am I am just making poo up? What was the special radar they needed in macross zero to find stuff again?
  24. Song energy will save the day. Sprinkle a few seeds in it's mouth, get basara to sing, and then the seeds will grow into thorny and very poisonous plants in its stomach to strangle the monster from the inside out causing a violent and cruel death. UN military will be able to then gather samples of the monster for study in their labs to make bioroids out of the armored pieces and putting the armored pieces on dead zentradi soldiers whos zentradi meat can be reused as undead warriors carrying bombs strapped to their bodies for massed attacks. (songs can resurrect the dead) With basara's singing the zentradi grow a lot faster and they have an infinite supply of zentradi meat to use for suicide missions. They just got to keep cloning them and using singing to make them grow fast like how basara and sara were able to make the plants heal immediately in past shows. Whereas the bugs will destroy stuff we will use magic to produce stuff with the music. Perhaps flooding the enemies with new biological lifeforms that mutate and adapt to the the environment over time. (think of the poor kid in akira that kept growing and growing and ended up destroying the city, that's how the UNG is able to tap into the god powers of these mayan islanders and make weapons out of them) That's how I think they could fight the monsters. Use the bugshell as new form of bone armor. Put the bone armor on the dead body of a zentradi, and then use sara's healing magic to bring them to life as an undead soldier that can't die. If the PD could create the vampires which were beaten by feeding them music, we should be allowed to create zombies. (think along the lines of the boomers in bubble gum crisis) /joke only
  25. I remember I stumbled upon it looking for valk toys. I went to RT.com and was lead here because you can't talk about the yamato branded products due to the censoring of information there. Robotechnology came to my rescue. Sometimes I go into the RT forums for a peek once in a while. Oh no, don't tell me you are going to sell out and make the bad guys a MW affiliate. That'd be dirtier than you doing a tentacled monster from a Hanime and giving birth to its babies after it impregnated you with its filthy hellspawn which grow magic venomous penis snakes which would then eat you alive slowly and poo you out of their anus after having digested you whole with its stomach acids, for fun.
