I did a search, couldn't see anything that resembled an answer to this, so heres my question! I know the 1st n 2nd incarnations were chunky, but has yamato given 'official' update or details on what they were redoing in particular? I can't imagine the overall transformation will change dramatically, Im thinking more just streamlining it like the S.H.E? If they could somehow make the nose lil longer and streamlined without that bigass pot belly under the cockpit, it would be better.... And has there been any update on when its coming out? I really want the original paint scheme, as I only was able to get the vfx2 verison. I thought it was still gonna be this year, wasn't it? Any info appreciated! tah in advance ! Sam

Its looks as real as an anime character probably could. I think it looks cool. Dont know bout actually having one in a house. Maybe like a wax museum or something? Gotta say though, it would scare the crap outta your house pets i'd bet!

Hi, thanks for the comments guys its appreciated !! Rune, it was combination of everything in painting. Spraypaint can undercoats, airbrush shading, oil panel lines, hand painted detail (red lines, macross symbols, canopy, cockpit details) and clear coat in a can! using tamiya acrlyics so i dont die from painting for a long time...... heh I would really love to find that futures floor wax everyone talks bout for doing canopys cuz im sure that would make it even better ( its addicting this modelling lets me tells ya! ) As far as I understand its just acrylic floor covering. Might have to experiment, but cockpits aren't exactly readily available. Might have to do some 1/60 ones too. Gerwalker, now Im gonna have to check out that Maxl version to compare ! I never noticed that it was better, but as soon as I saw the side shots of this valk it was a case of 'how to make it more streamlined' heeh. I was hoping the painting might be tricky enough to make it look like a bigger scale. One day I will achieve that ! Like a 'bonsai' valk, tiny but looks big! Oh btw, did anyone notice the nosecon mod? It was way too chunky originally, so i sanded and sharpened for better look...just wondering if it was noticable to anyone.. was piecing my fingers all the time while I was painting hehe

Thanks guys, glad you like That took a week of on-off painting, this ended up being the oil-panel-lineing-experiement-model-sacrificial-plastic-thingie, and im really happy how it came out. Im going to try tidying up the macross symbos which i handpainted, but its not easy.. The wheels are deliberatly not on cuz they suck and look ugly This is going in a small flight diorama that will construct once I build some other 1/44 with the same techniques as this one. Should should pretty good. I took this to work today for show n tell LOL ... most ppl were impressed, some even kinda knew what it was from *well, robotech was the closest someone got, hehe* Big thanks to all input that helped me out with panel lines, thanks William for the advice, tah muchly. After successfully achieving clear coat WITHOUT warping underneath paint * stil happens, but think its due to teh paint thickness underneath* its been quite fun detailing this up....... Im no expert, but ive been told to apply a clear coat, then use thinned oils applyed to the lines and let it 'seep' through, dry in the lines, then clean up the areas where you placed the paint on using thinners. or u can try markers, but washes look nicer, much nicer There are better experts on the matter round here, but thats a start.

If you use acrylics, I hope u dont want to blend too much, unless u are very quick. they tend to dry quite quickly. I use tamiya to do everything in acrylic so far, and did some 1/200 scale nichimos a while back, which came out ok. At least with acrylics you can paint in a room and not have to worry about ventilation too much, its not as fumy...... my 2 cents worth..

THIS is the next project... its the 1/15 non transformable mospeada ride armours... Rook and Scott, or Houqut and Stik or Rey or whoEVERS name in whatever language, but they will be cool cuz im going to use all the helpful info you guys have had in regards to oil wash........ next day off should see these painted up with base colours.. so no more updates for a bit! hehe Thanks again for all feedback, its a good thing, believe me! encourageing. Im looking forward to when im allowed to get the models collections topic going, just to see what all others are doing. They have more character than toys which are all the same, models are made, not bought!! SaM

This is the lancer 1.12 scale buildup from a while back, not the best execution, but it transforms well, just sooooooooo top heavy! Have a Stik version to make as well as the non transformable versions.....

You will notice the lack of sanding n finer points on the older ones, but I was really happy with the paint job! Knight26, I actually DO plan to do the Ger, cuz I got one from HLJ in the same batch as the vf2ss and Raus, and I also have the Officers pod to make as well,... they will come later though. Wm Cheng, thanks, the clear coat is Hemler Crystal Koat, and Im using tamiya acrylics, so I can paint without worries of dying of fumes.. . Im in process of making a ride armour non transformable, which im going to try this clear coat on again, but with the oils, I have some cheapo artist oils, does any do? And do I use mineral turps to both thin down and clean up? Im not keen on ruining these others till i perfect it(clear coat, maybe it was too cold when I did it? ), or get better, and I must say that I have only used it cautiously on one part of the vf2ss, so maybe it was a one off problem? I know you use lacquers WM, but im guessing all is equal after clear coat, so what is the deal on oils? anything do? oooh.. typed to much, hehe... Thanks again! I will keep working on these Ride armours! Test the clear coat again, fingers crossed, then will post results! might take a few days cuz im working and here in australia its FREEZING at the moment, and the garage is lacking in the insulation dept. tah! Is this confirmation enough? Man, that looks sweet. You're one lucky guy. Maybe wwwmwww could pass it to one of our great recasters and.....well recast it for the masses? over 100 small parts I think, kinda fiddly... dont think it would be financially viable somehow....... Nice idea though

VERY nice. Great colours black n red. Did well for handpainting too. Cant see streaks or anything, which normally i do ! heh
