  1. why would anyone want just one? i gots to have all of them. keep the 1/60's alive!!!!
  2. macross_fanboy, there are plenty of pics of both the VE and VT in the toy section. use the "search" function as i don't wanna eat up space on the servers for pics that already exist. sorry man
  3. just some things i left out about the stands. it uses 3 screws to make the rods tighter and/or more loose. be sure NOT to over tighten the screws. stripping the threads in the acrylic base won't help your cause nor will creating stress cracks on the acrylic plate. be gentle and tighten the screws AFTER you've decide on the position. also, when setting the rods to any position, be sure to move the rods at the base/bottom of the rod. while the rods in itself are pretty strong, too much torque will break the rod. i think thats it.
  4. okay i'll have to apologize since i don't know exactly where to write this review since the stands are not a "toy" but i feel an honest review here won't hurt anyone...it'll be more helpful if anything so here goes... first off, these stands are great and everyone here should pick up a few. its one of those thing everyone wants, but feel it isn't worth the price, which is so not true. all of these stands are great but to those people that wanna more than a few there are some issues regarding the available heights so pay attention and save some time and money. first, there are certain combinations of heights that don't work well together. 2.5" and 4" stands 4", and 6" stands neither of these work well cause there just isn't enough clearance between the two heights. if you're planning to display some of your valks in fighter mode w/missles, the valks will practically be touching one another or overlapping in a bad way. i would suggest going with a 2.5" stands and 6" stands. it'll leave plenty of clearance, and save space overall. i'd pick up a couple of 4" stands just for the different "rod length" allowing you to create a different look and angles but other than that the 4" height is pointless IMO. also realize that when displaying 1/48's, you're better off with the 6" stands. the 2.5" and 4" stands are only good if you're displaying your 1/48 in fighter mode. you need a 6" stand if you want to display a 1/48 in battroid or gerwalk modes. rod combinations....this where things get good so all of you should know by now that the stands can be disassembled and reassembled using different sized rods to create odd and unusual angles for your valks/toys. it adds "play value" for a lack of better words to an otherwise "as is" display stand...pretty friggin cool IMO. nuff said!!! B) square or round bases??? which one to get? the square ones are more stable than the round but it really depends on the angle of the rods more than and overall "balanced weight" than anything else. i haven't had a single problem with the square bases but the round ones are a little less stable IMO. they're great if you display them, don't touch them, move them or bump them on the round bases. they take up a little less space and perfect for the "anal member" that has to have everything at a right angles, where the round base eliminates this "analism". personally, i'll stick to the square bases. the rounds are nice but a little sketchy compared to the square. i'd give these stands a 9 out of 10. B) i've seen plenty of other diplays stands but nothing that compares to the quality and craftmenship on these. if you're ordering something for VE or twinmoons, i'd definitely add a couple of these to your orders....you won't be disappointed.
  5. i tried the paper trick too....nice! and it sure beats the glue i was going to use thanks for the helpful tip.
  6. okay, i've had this game forever and i've started playing it again recently(without cheats) and can't see to get these last 3 medals filled.... RDF flying ace southerncross supernova i've gotten each of the medals once but no gold stars and was wondering how i get the other gold stars? i don't wanna use cheats or anything, i wanna win legit, on the hard difficulty, using just the 1A only. i've completed the game several times but i don't know what else to do??? please help! thanks, haterist

    1:60 GBP-1 !?

its funny to see a simple picture became bitchfest 2003. i don't know why people are having a cow about how much, how comes, why nots and what ifs? wait, see and then complain......not whine, whine and whine about something that doesn't really exist yet. too expensive? don't buy it too tall? don't buy it too short? don't buy it too small? don't buy it too big? don't buy it too thin? don't buy it too fat? don't buy it i think its really simple...if you have a problem with it...DON'T BUY IT!!! no one is forcing you to buy it...bundled, not bundled, whatever! bitchin about something you're NOT gonna get, is completely pointless....go complain in a different thread. i for one plan to get this...whether its perfect or not. wanna know why? cause it sure beats the one i DON'T HAVE. sorry guys, but it seems every thread that gets started in the toy section turns into....well, this.

    1:60 GBP-1 !?

well IF it is official then its definitely 100% 1/60 scale. and how do i know? well being a 1/60 fanatic, there one simple clue that has been missed..... THE KNEES you'll noticed the no knee caps in the photo. the 1/48 all have knee caps and i can't see yamato removing them from the design just for a 1/48 GBP. by the shape of the thigh and knee joint, you can easily tell its a 1/60. OHHHH YEAAHHHHH! i'm gettin me some! *added* and check the spot between the thigh and the upper thigh?(with the intake) and you'll noticed it has the same proportions as the 1/60. the 1/48 has a slimer less noticeable joint.
  10. so i got the FPs a while back but since no ones done an "official" review, here goes... so they did a good job in making all the major pieces fit together nicely. the leg armor couldn't be better. they loaded it with details and has a nice snug fit, both the back leg armor/tank and the side leg armor. some of the details inside could stand out a little more but nothing to cry over and its better than a non-removable leg plate with no details, so no whining here. The arm armor fixes the skinney arm problem and almost fits snuggly into both "catches". It isn't 100% perfect but ¡'ll take 99.9%. One thing I feel could¡'ve been done is to make the missles on the arms removeable instead of just sitting there like on a 1/60 FP. But thats just my preference. The back pack/engine First thing is, could it be any tighter? Its quite difficult to remove the entire FP without having one or both of the packs coming off without the die-cast "pin". Almost feels like you¡'re going to break it so its wise to be gentle. Its not a biggie as it only requires you to "jiggle it, just a little bit"sorry dudes. Besides, I'd rather have FP's that are hard to remove than ones that fall off if you tilt it to it side. So I can't complain there. At first I was surprised to see that it was so tight cause the 1/60 FPs tended to get loose after you remove them a couple of tim....plastic, what can you do? I m really glad they went with the die-cast inserts since they'll last longer and adds a little weight to your valk. The details underneath the engine cover....spectacular, and won't get loose no matter how many time you take it on and off....you can't beat that! missle packs/strike cannon, The first thing I noticed was how loose the missle packs were when attaching to the engine section of the backpack. the simple "slot" design they used, I have a feeling won't last too long, and removing these repeatedly can't be good. The removable missle pack covers work well. Its nice and tight and doesn't just fall off....its almost a pain to get them off, which is a good thing IMO. The key is the little "red dot", push it in and it comes right out. the strike cannon is fine but it will not sit flush on the engine. Its not a big deal and could be solved with a little sanding and a little touch of grey paint. the weird looking piece that fits on the back of the neck. nice touch since i don't think those to tiny little tabs that holds the rear plate will hold up after a few transformations. its an odd extra but one thats definitely needed...yamato "just about" thinks of everything. BIG missles...this is where things went sour for me, anyway. i think they are rather large in proportion to the scale of the valk. they fall off too easily, also the peg that goes into the wing is too big or small and doesn't hold "still". if you shake your valk, the missles will fall off or be out of place. definitely the worst part of the FP kit. i have nothing positive to mention other than the paint job is nice them. <_< mini missles...kind of a pain...you'll see. I took all the mini missles off the sprues but personally I dislike how they had them on sprues to begin with. Its not a model so i can't see why they could've just taken them and put them in a plastic baggies. It isn't a big deal but i know some people didn't bother to take them off cause they have plans of re-selling them. which is fine, but in doing so it takes away from the play value. Afterall its a toy, and toys are meant to be played with even if its just missles. okay back to the review. The double missles fit super tight in it slot, great! But the single missles just tend to fall out on its own. making it quite difficult to slide the cover without having a missle getting loose, and making that rattling noise which bothers the heck out of me. It takes surgeons hands or "fun-tack" to get them to stay while sliding the cover back. I'm sure its not the case with every FP kit out but it is with the one I have so I figured i'd mention it. okay the color....eeewwwww! I hate the cheapy blue color they used on the FP's. It stands out too much and doesn't fit into the color scheme of the valks as smoothly. It odd but it reminds me of those jerry¡¯s kids candy displays with the crappy fake ass grape candy....don't know why, but it does. Once again, just my preference but I feel it could've been a darker blue as with the 1/60 1S FP. I'd give the FP a 8 out of 10. Loose missles definitely not a plus(both mini and big) and the color leaves much to be desired. I know the color shouldn't affect my judging but its hurts my eyes and I can't get passed it. If you don't pick up atleast one set, you're missing out on the macross goodness.
  11. Have there been any pictures of the new FPs yet? All I've seen is the VF-1J by itself. i haven't seen anything official but i'm pretty sure they'll make them grey? instead of the horrid blue color they got going on right now. IMHO, the blue color they chose looks cheap AND crappy. if they gone with a darker blue it would've looked much "classier" and wouldn't look like a reject from the yamato factory they couldn't give away. sorry for you FP lovers but now you know why my name is haterist.
  12. hey man, i suggested in the toy review section to use the super poseable alpha/veritech hands. you just have to trim the peg down a bit and they fit real nice and grip the gunpod tight. the low-viz is no problem with the sp alpha hands cause the paint matches. the only problem is matching the paint for the off-white valks. i tried painting them, but vinyl and enamel paints don't work too well together and i have no idea what kind of paint will hold up on vinyl. anyone? i'm waiting on kam63 to send me some sp veritech hands....thanks kam! i don't know what color they are but i'm sure they look more official then the alpha hands.....hopefully white.
  13. you can always hit it with a thin layer of matt clear coat spray...it could help. i know smoking doesn't help, and direct sunlight definitely doesn't help....and thats a fact, jack! i bought a ionic breeze from sharper image(can't say enough good stuff about it) and that keeps 98% of the crappy air and dust off my stuff and absorbs a majority of all the different "smokes" in my house...if you know what i mean. also i have everything in a shaded section of my home office where i KNOW sunlight doesn't reach. otherwise no one has solved this problem...other than the car companies.
  14. thats why when the vf-1j w/fps comes out, i'll be asking people to trade up for the reg. fps with the strike cannon. its not a bad deal since i'm offering a free strike cannon with the trade. hopefully, they'll be some members who won't like the TV fps.
  15. i feel you man, i'm a low-viz guy myself...but i only have one. ...for now. and yes you ARE nuts but so am i.
  16. okay, so i got the low-viz a while back but i figured no one did a review so i'll do one. first, the low-viz is my favorite of all the valks just because it doesn't have the unrealistic colors like the other valks. now, normally you'd get tired of an old toy and throw it to the side after you get a new one, but this is not the case with the low-viz. i recently aquired the 1S, put the FP's on it and don't play with it nearly as much as i play with my 2 month old "naked" LV. does that say something???? i'd say so. so that being said....everything is 95% PERFECT with this valk. i haven't had any real problems with it and i play with my valks. none of the past QC issues at all with these badboys...but there is 1. as i stated, i play with my valks. i've had the LV for 2 months now and the paint is rubbing off at the knees/thighs and on the side of the legs. oddly enough, most of us hold our valks by the legs and you kind of have to hold the knee/thigh? down when transforming from fighter mode to release the clip from the back of the leg. it seems the oils from the hands contribute to the paint wearing/rubbing off which i wasn't too thrilled about. <_< so, i decided to remove all of the paint from the knee/thigh, cause it just looked bad but left the paint on the side of the legs alone. while i don't like changing the overall paint/design, it was unavoidable with the LV. either i left it alone and it looked like crap or remove the paint and make it look normal. other than that, i have NOT encounter a single problem. and even with the paint issue i still plan to get 2 more of these and suggest everyone pick up atleast 1....you won't be sorry. i'd give it a 8.5 out of 10. i'd love to give it a perfect 10, but paint rubbing off....i don't think so. none of the other valks have this problem and they should've done something(clear coat)to prevent this IMHO. oh, and if you don't like the flimsy hands, do what i did and get some sp alpha hands. just trim down the peg and slap those badboys on. they look 100 times better than those "chicken" hands and they're are about the same size. it doesn't fold into the arms but it holds the gunpod nice and tight plus, you don't even have to paint them, cause it matches perfect with the LV paint scheme. oh yeah!
  17. let me start off by saying, this is my first review so bare with me and don't flame me. i just picked up the VE and VT, and they ain't all that. i was upset that they didn't included some things such as a gunpod(which they left the slot on the arm for), missles packs(which they put in the "pegs" on the wings for) and no extra hands(which doesn't cost jack). all of which, could've fit in that giant ass box. <_< i know, its not movie/TV accurate but i could give 2 s**ts about accuracy. if they really wanted to be accurate, they should've have never given the option to put missles on, hold a gunpod on the arm, or give them hands at all, right? sadly, the only reason i picked them up was too to finish my 1/60 collection, but other than that, there was no need for me to pay MSRP for these. also, if you're thinking about switching the FP off the super O to the 1D...forget about it. the leg armor fits as it should, but the backpack doesn't hold the "clip" too well and it sits at a odd angle. now, not to be a total hater but the QC on these aren't that bad. first thing i noticed...the legs were nice and tight. this IMO, is one of the more important features they fixed. no flopping around or falling forward or backward due to weight. now, i can't say for sure so either, yamato made an improvement or i just got a really good set of them? they went back to the non-moving shoulders again. they made the improvement for the 1D which allowed more movement without popping the "shoulder slot" out, but unfortunately they did not incorporate the new "shoulder peg joint" design or....i got a bad set. the chest plate... its rather simple problem to solve and you have 1 of 2 choices.... 1) pull the front landing gear down a little, then push the chest plate down, no disassembly 2) you have to take the nose/chestplate apart and straighten the metal glide plate. for those of you that have no desire to "fix" a $80- toy....don't buy them. okay so that all being said.... i'd give these a 7 out of 10. if you're a completist, obviously get them. if you just want them, then hold off until retailers have to clear out their inventory for a better price. if you plan to get them just to leave them in fighter mode....get a model. it'll look more accurate and be a whole lot cheaper.
  18. now all you need is a squad of regults and you'll be all set. the only problem i see in army building is, its hard for someone to get stuff all in the same scale. yeah there coming out with the monster and q-rau, but what about regults? what about destroids? what about me? ahhhhhhh!!!!!!! *added* oh, i'm officially a wanna-be now.
  19. now thats what i call an ARMY!!! my army *cough* my squad *cough*, would get their butts kicked if they ran into "admiral" kanata's army. damn, i wish i had the time and patience to build models again. those are models right? *added* nevermind, they look like those exo squad releases...yes?
  20. i hear ya man, i don't like coming out the pockets for valks, then having to fix them when they're brand new. <_< but atleast i didn't break the damn thing. i sat there for a good hour or so pushing, pressing and forcing that chest plate down with no progress at all. i had to call in for reinforcements(advice) to figure it out....thanks Will! B)
  21. okay folks, i figured out why so many of us are having problems with transforming the VE and VT into battroid mode. you have to pull out the front landing gear and the chest plate should slide nicely. if that doesn't work, then you have to disassemble the front section of the plane and bend the sliding plate "straighter" and that should solve your problems. sorry if someone has already posted this, but i figured it couldn't hurt.
  22. yeah man, if anything you should be bashing toynami.... yamato is the "rolls royce" of macross/robotech toys as far as i'm concerned. B)
  23. keep them all. why would you sell something you went through the trouble of collecting? i know the 1/48's are the bomb but still dude, you'll be kicking yourself later on cause you old them off. i'm sure you paid quite a bit of dough for the all the 1/60's, so how much do you think you'll honestly get for all of them? at best i'd say you'd get a little more than half your money back. and you never know, in a few years, everybody and there mother could be looking for 1/60's and you'll be raking in the dough. anyhow, i'm just about to finish off my 1/60 collection. all i need now is a TRU CF and my collection will be complete. then, i'll devote more time/money to the 1/48's and my other hobbies.
  24. yes man! i am VERY interested in getting your recast. super fresh my brotha! i'm also interested in a 1/48 "S" and "J"(when it comes out) heads. i guess i'd be better off sending a PM.
  25. I thought the bump was supposed to be white. it is i thought it was suppose to be yellow? on all the other valks, the 1/48's and 1/60's, the "hump" on the backpack matches the color scheme of the valk. the 1S is the only one i've noticed(so far) that doesn't have any paint on the backpack. i don't know if its "fact" that they should match, TV/movies-wise, but it should stay consistant with the other valks shouldn't it? its not like i really care either way. i'm not painting any of my 1/48's...PERIOD! present and future. if i wanna paint, i'd just buy a model and paint that, but a toy....i don't think so.
