  1. There is actually a legit Hong Kong DVD version of DYRL. I bought it when I first came out on 1999. It was distributed by Panorama Distribution Company. It has Japanese, Mandarin and 2 Cantonese (one AC3 5.1) audio. The picture quality is pretty good. I don't have a FX version (I bought one but it turned out to be a fake ), so I don't know the PQ is any better. The DVD version is pretty much impossible to find. The good news is that the VCD version of this DYRL is still available in yesasia for just $5.99, but it only has Japanese and Cantonese audio: http://us.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.aspx/code...anime/pid-7179/ Hope this help
  2. I've used the laser decal paper (transparent and white) from Beldecal. http://www.beldecal.com/laser_paper.html I also bought their inkjet decal paper (transparent and white) but have not tried it. I used the decal paper on a Xerox Color Phaser printer (it uses wax). The decal paper works really well. The decal is pretty thin but not as soft/flexible as the decal say from Hasegawa. So you will have to add more water and be very careful when you position the decal. You can use decal softener and decal set on it. The problem with using laser printer and inkjet is, like others mentioned, that they don't print white. Unless the places where you apply the decal are in very light or white color, the color of the decal is not going to show up well. If the pattern of the decal is of a regular shape or is big, you can print the decal on white decal paper then trim the decal to the shape of the pattern. You are out of luck for irregular shape (which most of the time they are) though. If you are serious about making your own decal, you should look into getting an ALPS printer and stock up on the supplies while you still can (and also hope your ALPS printer does not break). [Edit] Another option is look for someone to make custom decal. You can try Samuel Decal. http://www.samueldecal.com/ I have NOT used their decals, but have heard a lot of good comments in a couple of other modeling forums. Good luck.
  3. I don't know what kind of overspray problem your kit has. I guess you can't be cheap with masking tape (diaper). Change it often. I have other overspray problem with my 1st kit (boy). The kit tended to fire its weapon as soon as the masking tape is removed. What I've learned is to just loosen up the masking tape slightly, wait a few second before opening the masking tape completely.
  4. Graham, thanks for the great news! The scan says the price is not set, and it is available some time in fall. Any specific info?
  5. Congratulations to you and your wife! This is definitely your best work. Any plan for the next "project"?
  6. Not sure this is old news or not, 1/72 VF-0A/S Battroid Macross Zero is listed as March release at hlj. List price 3400 Yen. http://www.hlj.com/product/HSG20
  7. I know exactly how you feel. My little one is 10 months old, and my elder son is 2 years older. By the time they go to bed it is already 10pm. After going through my mail/email, doing some chores and taking care of a few other things, before you know it, it is about midnight. I am just totally exhausted and don't feel like building model. I have only been building 1 model a year for the past few years.
  8. neptunesurvey, thanks for the picture. Can you do a high res scan? I am also trying to make decal for the Tactical Pod.

  10. Got mine. Also has disk 1 says Movie Edition. For a second I thought maybe they did package the movie along with the OVA. No such luck
  11. Mechleader, this is our 2nd child too. Our other kid is a 2-year old boy. Yeah, it feels like our first some times too, my 2 children's character is very different. How do you find time to do model? I think I will just buy more toys
  12. Mechmaster, really like your painting technique. Would love to see a "how to". I have seen another model with similar effect. The guy who painted it uses many "layer" of color wash to achieve the effect.
  13. Nice work! Can you post some pictures of you X-Wing too?
  14. Mechleader, congratulations! We got our baby girl on Apr 6th. Is this your first one? I won't be able to build any model any time soon. In fact I just packed all my tools and cleaned up my work area last week. Oh, Prime, congrats to you too.
  15. Just finished a MG RX-78Ka in G3 color scheme. It is going to be a while before I would have time to build another model
  16. Just sent email. [Edited] Payment sent this morning.
  17. No worry. Take care of yourself first Mike.
  18. In fact I did see this kit in a toy store in Hong Kong during my visit in Christmas of 2003. This is really a rare kit. I may say one of the early "H" kits (bare b****t underneath the upper armor), just kidding. Hope you will be able to find it
  19. Oh my... (let me pick up my jaw) And that is ONLY the forward part (I guess about 3/5 of the total length) of the arm cannon???!!! This is definitely going to be a master piece.
  20. Sweet! It looks huge! Mike, can you take a picture with a scale or something so that we can see roughly how big it is?
  21. Awsome! Please post more pics as you progress.
  22. I like John's idea of making a slightly larger 1/72 now and later have the option of making a 1/48 fixed-pose kit using hydrospan (a 60% increase in size is actually closer to 1/45). Actually a larger scale kit would need more external details to look right. Take the Yammie 1/12 Scopedog as an example, it is way to plain for its scale.
