  1. I think the Masei will look better (or closer to the DYRL) if the top visor is just a little longer. It is good that it is a real helmet though. If I ever going to autocross again (I no longer have the RX-8 and don't foresee I will get another sports car anytime soon ), I can use this helmet. BTW, I would love to see a cardboard/duct tape chest armor
  2. Based on the pictures I have seen here so far, I think I have the "honor" of having the helmet that sustained the most damage due to the poor shipping packaging. I was going to post comparison pictures between Yamato and Masei helmet after the issue is fixed. But then I think members here probably want to see how they look in different views and don't care about the cracks and scratches. So here they are. Oh, pardon the watermark. I added that so that people seeing my pictures (being taken) in "Other Places" will come to this thread in MW and see the whole picture. Front View Back View Right Side View. The v2 1/60 Strike VF-1A is there for scale. Left Side View Top View. You can really see how much the top visor on the Yamato is bigger than the Masei. Here is some more pictures of the Yamato helmet in an earlier post: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=29541&page=5#entry819669
  3. I hope I would get the same response. How much is the shipping?
  4. Just got mine today. The packaging is a joke. I can't believe they did not put anything to protect the helmet except the bag! Mine got a piece of top visor broke of, a huge long crack at the back, broken "back vent", scratch and cracks at other places.
  5. YF-25 is available at hlj for 13,300 Yen if anyone wants one. http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN985605/Sci
  6. I heard back from Masei. He said the pictures posted had a red top was because he was in a hurry and used a red helmet shell to make the first product samples with decals. He also said he can use different decals without the M911. I made the remaining payment and requested a white helmet with just the red on black top visor with no M911 or other extra decal. I also sent an email with a picture of my Yamato Macross helmet and said that is the way I want it. Hopefully they can really fulfill that. The ETA is around the end of November.
  7. The matte black looks great! BTW, I have not heard back from Masei yet.
  8. I also don't want the "extra" stuff. I just want one like it is in the DYRL movie. I just emailed them if that can be done. I also asked if the extra stuff got to be on the painted one, can I have an plain white helmet with just the red on black top visor. Hopefully I will hear back from them.
  9. 505thAirborne, are the two screws what is holding the black visor to the helmet? Also, how smooth is the surface of the unpainted helmet? Is okay to leave it as is and just paint the stripe and the visor? While the painted ones looks nice, I don't really like the M911 decal and the red top of the Hikaru version.
  10. Finally got some time to play with the stands tonight. Just took a couple of black poster boards and snapped a few pictures. I apologize for the poor quality of the pictures. First is the VE-1: Very sturdy even for hard banking. RVF-25 with Super and Ghosts: Lego Millennium Falcon: This is the small one. I used the 4x4 adapter. It is very sturdy. However, the 2x4 adapter just cannot hold the Millennium Falcon at all: May have to glue 2x4 adapter to a 2x4 lego block. Any suggestion as to what glue to use?
  11. Received the stands yesterday. Just quickly assembled one but only got a little time to play with it. It is awesome! Thank you ChaoticYeti for the effort and hard work to make this stand available for the MW community. I am using the printed base pivot now which is snug and nice. I do prefer the clear base pivot, so I will be getting the acrylic solvent. I tried the stand with a 25F Tornado and a RVF-25 Super in F Mode. It is nice and sturdy. I also quickly tried the 2x4 Lego adapter and use it with one of my son's Star Wars sets. The adapter is not as snug as I would like. I will probably glue the 2x4 adapter to another Lego block. Do you have any suggestion on what glue to use between the printed adapter and a Lego block? I have not tried the 4x4 adapter though. I will play with that some more and try other Lego sets over the weekend.
  12. Got the tracking #. Thanks!
  13. These are the photos I got in the email this morning. It is a lot better but not perfect. You can still see some "ripples" on some edges.
  14. I use masei_helmet@hotmail.com
  15. I think the black "visor" on top is painted (standard color red, yellow and blue). I guess the stripe (arrow) that matches the top visor color is decal. I asked the seller about the color and received an email today with some new pictures of the top visor in red. It does look better than the initial pictures. I will post the pictures when I get home tonight. Hopefully they will make the stripe smaller. I'm still not sure whether I should get the color one or get the plain one. 505thAirborne, is the white color of the plain helmet painted? Do I need to prime it if I decide to paint it?
  16. 505thAirborne, according to the Masei size chart 60cm (59-60cm) should be a L instead of XL (61-62cm). Did you purposely up the size? Does it fit better for you than one that is truely 60cm? I am a bit concern about the color and graphics too. Looking at the pictures, the lines are not very crisp and the stripe (arrow) is way too big. I am hoping this is prototype, and the final paint job/graphics will be better. I also thought about getting a plain one then plasti-dip it. This way I can change it to whether I want from one color to another.
  17. oshanmacross, 505thAirborne is the one who got the helmet, not me. I wanted a colored one so I will have to wait.
  18. Congrats! So you chose the plain one (no graphics and color). How is the quality of the helmet? Is it easy to remove the visor? Do you have the Yamato helmet? If so, can you post pictures of the two together? Sorry for all the questions. Just got a little exited seeing the post.
  19. CY, sorry to hear about the screw-up of the vendor and thank you for working on the solution. There is so much potential for the stand. Hopefully this won't deter you from offering the stand in the future.
  20. Duymon, is that Tornado YF-25 from the Macross 30 game? This version has much less white and orange than the one in the PSP game (I have only seen a very small picture that from someone's post). I have been trying to find pictures of the Tornado YF-25 scheme. Could you please post more pictures in different angles? And if there is a version with more white and orange, can you please post that too? Thank you in advance.
  21. Nice pictures The Old Man! What kind of lights did you use to take the pictures? The lighting looks great.
  22. Awesome! I will take two 4x4 if they can be shipped with the stands.
  23. Thanks bruinsinla! Finally got one.
