  1. I *Hate* Shrek 2, and never saw The Third... I don't think anything can top the original Shrek with its Smashmouth soundtrack and perfect humor... I'm more excited for Toy Story 3! :D:D:D
  2. I'm actually a little confused about the release order of things at the end of JP G1... I don't understand how the return of Convoy/Battlestars stuff or Operation Combination stuff fits in it Roadfire is indeed the last G1 transformer produced. The TF Wiki says Roadfire is the last Zone toy released, but that must mean stuff like Sky Garry came out afterwards. Sky Garry's actually pretty easy to find now thanks to a large warehouse find a couple years ago, and shouldn't run you more than a little over $200 with shipping give or take, if you're willing to deal with a Chinese seller. I'd love to get the Return of Convoy Power Master Trio (reissue Star Convoy, Sky Garry, and Grandus), but Star Convoy is so bland, and Grandus is another grail Tf to hunt for. Getting JP G1 TFs is not too terribly hard if you're willing to make connections, throw around the cash, and be patient. I had a friend who had some friends in Japan and could have them look in local shops for things, which is how I got my Vic Leo loose complete (minus missiles) in phenomenal condition for a great price, along with the one JP exclusive godmaster repaint I have (out of three), and otherwise I did alot of prowling ebay and just was patient and looked for deals. Stuff like Star Saber and Overlord are not THAT rare in the scheme of things, but will cost a decent amount whenever they come up due to the demand. I bought both Roadfire and Sonic Bomber from ebay sellers... I got antsy and did BIN on Sonic Bomber and paid too much in reality for one in his condition missing the MM partner, and then another one went up like a week later and ended at auction for less, but I still love that figure. Dai Atlas I got from a board member on TFW2005, original working figure with KO release parts, for a steal of a price. If you want to get stuff like the JP Headmaster heads, good luck... that's a whole different ballgame and price range. The three repainted godmasters are typically pretty cheap, as they are much less prolific than the heads or the Dino-cassettes, but still neat little rare figures. There's tons of stuff out there I don't have, like Minerva or Metalhawk, or Liokaiser, which are all cool, and I'd love to get, but I'm not actively looking for right now. There's also stuff like Black Zarak or Dinoking that I'll never buy or would necessarily want compared to their US counterparts. EDIT: I DID add Reprolabels to my Roadfire. so I'll have to throw up some pics of that...
  3. Haha, I wish I HAD a Zone collection... I've got the three Powered Masters, and then just a handful of US release Micromasters... someday I'll get around to collecting Countdown and the other MM bases so I can make the REAL Zone! I'd also love to get Rabbicrater, the blue MM who came with the original VHS of the Zone OVA.
  4. I got Iron Gear a couple months ago, and love it. I am not bothered by the way the landship mode sits, and the engineering is otherwise incredible on this guy. The fact that it has any leg articulation at all is amazing, and the toy is really fun to play with in both modes. I haven't gotten around to assembling all the little accessory guys, as I currently do not have the too to display all that I do plan on eventually building all those little guys, and adding some painting and weathering to all of the toys, IG included. Here's a shot I took while playing with some SOCs the other day
  5. VFTF- Those are the only releases I'm looking forward to as well at this point. I'm going to see TF2 in IMAX with my friend and little bro and all, but there's not a toy coming out that I want from it. Oh well...
  6. The whacky KO stuff is fun anc all, but honestly that guy drives me nuts, especially in the way he is allowed to run around TFW2005. Everyone likes to see the movie toys ahead of time and such, but that guy is one of the leading people supporting the market for toys stolen off the Hasbro production lines. Most of his ROTF preview posts read 'got these in today, had to take pictures for EBAY(!!!) and figured I could post the pictures here on TFW as well'. It's unbelievable.
  7. Vifam's also right, you forgot the last 'flair' of the ankle/heel guard. What I'm talking about is right above that, with those tabs from the... NVM Vifam's got it. I checked on Dalong, and it is just that you forgot the last bit of armor on there. The tab looked funny and made me think the part assembled differently than it does. Carry on...
  8. VFTF1- looks good, and a pencil's a reasonable panel lining tool for an unpainted kit. You have the calves assembled wrong tho... those tabs on the round bits should be tucked under the bottom ankle skirts, not over them
  9. Thanks! Yeah, the Gundams are on a tall shelf, so I need a stool or something to take pics, but I can snap one off later. My 1/72 sci-fi models are on the top shelf above, but my 1/35 historical models are on their own satellite display, but need a couple of things repaired before I take pics of them together
  10. I've been messing with my shelves alot lately with the introduction of all my new vinyls toys (both modern and vintage) and thought it'd be fun to show off where I'm at right now. The bottom shelf is my ~1/60 real robot shelf with Yamato valks, Patlabor machines, Gundam stuff, and some 28mm war gaming models all approximately in scale with each other. Next shelf up is the product of my recent discovery of all things vintage robots pre-Transformers. On top of that is some Transformers and some vinyls, and then on top of that some bigger Transformers and models I've built. I also snapped a shot of my Machine Robo shelf, and my 'shelfless' Jumbo-sized toys. I've got another set of modern vinyls and other stuff spread around on my bookshelves, but this is the bulk of what's out right now. It's a shame I'm out of room, because I've an Iron Man collection that fills a shelf on its own, and a huge storage bin full of more G1 Transformers that I tragically have nowhere to put. More pics here: http://prometheusrising.wordpress.com/2009/06/11/shelves/
  11. Castlevania + GOW + MGS engine? I dunno... the moves looked identical to the combat in God of War... I honestly have so much fun and get so many hours out of the newer sidescrolling Castlevanias that I don't even think I'd want to play it in 3D where I have to sit in front of a TV. Castlevania's always been for me some of the best gaming you could do on a handheld. Heck, the only way I finished SotN was when they put it on the PSP.
  12. Understandable. I just figured that even if people do know about TBDX, the chat has only recently been resurrected, and we happened to actually be having some meaningful discussion, so it might be worthwhile to throw a friendly mention up. No advertising or click-whoring intended. In reality, it's not much different from the podcast updates from a couple of members in regards to their work on other sites... just trying to get the pertinent stuff out to all the people who might be interested for the sake of maintaining and expanding these communities of ours.
  13. Fantastic work HWR... are you gonna pick up the new Hase kit of the Falke?
  14. Screw the plastic Labors from CMs or WAVE.... just give me vinyls of EVERY LABOR EVER!!
  15. http://toyboxdx.com/cafe/chat.php We're in right now... come chat about 70's era toys from the likes of Popy, Bullmark, etc, and whatever else comes up.
  16. Way cool... SS is one of my favorite G1 acquisitions, and you've done him justice.
  17. Huh... what a weird problem. I'd hardly say we need to initiate 'Panic Mode' (something MW should really remove from their vernacular altogether) but it is a legitimate problem all the same.
  18. My CDX Review of the VF-11B. Buy one if you haven't!
  19. On the TF wiki page, the caption under the picture of Roadfire reads "You'll never own me", and I took that as a challenge. RF's not necessarily the most expensive G! TF by a longshot, but damned if he's not just about the rarest. Right when I was getting into the good stuff, I lost a loose incomplete broken RF for a whole bunch of money on ebay, and then did not see another one for almost a full year. Cut to about two weeks ago, and after a big binge of older super robot stuff on YHJ, I thought to myself 'I should check ebay again for Roadfire...' and there it was: boxed complete with unapplied stickers and some moderate yellowing. I had to have it... fortunately for me, the same seller was unloading a metric ton of good looking G1 stuff including other Japanese items, and it seemed to distract the competition, because I won RF for significantly less than my max bid with little competition in the critical last 5 minutes. The bugger showed up the other day, and I was in heaven... Reprolabels are in the air, and I'm going to look into the hydrogen peroxide method for the yellowing... here's some love shots of the Zone base all setup (missing Sonic Bomber's micromaster... one more elusive piece of the set) and a shot of the three Powered Masters together, and a box pic.
  20. I'm torn by the Helldiver... I just finally found room to bring out my Patlabor Revoltechs again as part of my finally realizing just how much I LOVE Patlabor after getting the CMs Gokin Ingram, and I remembered how awesome the Helldiver is... I'd love to have a good Helldiver to go with the CMs Gokin Ingram and Sofu labors, but the Wave toys have just looked so bad so far for faaaaar too much money.
  21. I am stoked to hear Dollhouse somehow got renewed... the final was AMAZING. The Whiskey thing was a great catch, and I think Knight is on to something with the personality Topher imprinted in Sierra for the 'diagnostics'.
  22. Glad to see the Qrea get some love... I will probably pick up this kit for its uniqueness. And I swear to god I'm about ready to pistolwhip the next person to whine about line art in a thread... line art for anime is not the same as artwork designed with consideration for modelkit/toy production, and as such should not be expected to match with such Nazi-like enthusiasm, nor should it be.
  23. OK, thanks for the feedback. I took the photos today for my VF-11B review for CDX today tho, and the rough cut between the middle piece of sheet and the sides sticks out in some wider shots, so I'm going to have to fix it up a little.
  24. Yeah, that explanation cleared things right up
