  1. It kinda makes me sad, you know... between all the colour variations of evangelions, they could throw us macross fans a bone once in a while. While a SOC valkyrie would be cool I would even be happy with a perfect grade valkyrie model.... mmmmm, perfect grade.
  2. I agree, the ugliness of the macross zero is what makes me love them. 'specially the SV-51... it really does look like a cobbled together hybrid of overtech and modern tech. Mean, completely uncute and supremely functional. Though... that paint scheme is murder on the eyes though.
  3. ferget fifty bucks, I've seen new MPCs at videogame stores for 25 bucks. about 25 bucks too much, imo
  4. Would be sweet, I would be worried about paint chips... the pics of the SOC eva unit 02 in the booklet showed the paint around the elbo all chipped off and since then, I've been kinda anal around it... and with all the folding pieces on a valk design, could forsee much chipping.. unless it was locked into battroid mode. but if it was a nice sculpt I would be happy with that.
  5. styrofoam bad for the environment and make ears hurt... I do wish yamato would streamline their boxes. That's a great find Sephiroth! I say keep the set together, you'll probably preserve the value of it more.
  6. I don't think either guld or isamu would have had difficulty with the Ghost if they hadn't beaten the tar out of their fighters during their previous fight. Even so, I figure Isamu could have taken out Guld easy if he ever really wanted to, so Isamu should be able to take out the Ghost, IMO. Which means, max would have no difficulty at all taking out the Ghost.... he probably could do it in VF-1 as stated previously...
  7. Hmmm, considering joscasle already said he'll get a 1/60 yammie, can't we just let this MPC versus yammie thing die? At this point, both toys have been out so long, if you haven't changed your mind on which toy you like better, most likely you won't.
  8. It's true! I had one and a playing card landed on top (don't ask) and the thing went up in seconds. luckliy nothing else caught on fire but it could have been bad. Kinda sad though, those halogen torches give off great light.

    Which 1/48 first...?

I haven't heard any serious complaints since the DYRL max type... I think you'll be pretty happy getting any of the re-issues or any of the newer valks. So just get the one you want and you should be fine. IMO, I don't quite like the 1/48 VF-1j head, can't put my finger on it but it looks just a little wrong to me... maybe the neck is too long? My favorite is still the 1s head... head seam or not. On my focker reissue it's hardly noticable.
  10. I've ordered from kevin and from twin moons... haven't had a problem with either... didn't ask for the super packaging treatment from kevin but my valks came in nicely and boxes were in good shape. The packaging from twin moon was good as well, no complaints.
  11. I had a 1/48 in fighter mode with fast pack drop off my computer monitor , hit the table and then fall to the floor without injury and then a few months later, fall from my dresser... still in good shape, nothing busted. And I've let a non macross fan figure how to transform my 1/48 vf-1j without breakage.. frankly I think the fragility of these toys is much over hyped.
  12. Boxer, All those things you mention get explored in the series. it's well worth following to the end.
  13. heh. look at his little calves... it's like he has his pants rolled up.

    1/48-1/60

probably best for you to check out the various reviews and compare with the line art. Big G's reviews have plenty of shots at various angles.
  15. nah, you have to take into account the random shot gimble featured in all transformers... how else do you account for the fact that they never hit anything?
  16. The VF-1j has the tv style uniform, and the low viz has a macross zero style uniform. There isn't a stock roy that comes in his TV grey as far as I know.
  17. That's too bad, I would love to see the yf-19 redone in 1/60 scale... actually, I would like to see all the mac + valks done in 1/60. they had a hard enough time getting the landing gear to work (some would say they failed) in 1/72 and I think the extra size would allow for yamato to be able to get the landing gear to work and not be detachable or hang out like on the first yf-19.
  18. isn't that the pic that the higher powers asked us not to post? If the *is* a beta pic of the new YF-19 fp, I'm pretty happy. The original YF-19 is the toy that got me back into collecting toys and I'd love to have a sleeker version to display next to my 1/48 VF-1's.
  19. I'm waiting for my order from Twin Moon as well. They are close enough so that I can pick up my order... yay!
  20. wow... I'm sitting here doing my illustration homework and your stuff is amazing!
  21. Really, BMWs are hardly flawless, they have many QC problems and are known for their electrical problems... owner reviews on even high end BMWs are mixed. And regardless of how you feel about BMW my analogy was that toys, in this case the Yamato Queadluun-Rau, are luxury items, and that manufacturers are entitled to charge whatever the market will bear... just like car companies, like BMW. If you are saying that given the design and quality issues of the average BMW is considered to be "flawless" than I would say that a Yamato 1/60 with it's know issues are equally flawless. Both have minor issues but in neither case do these issues become an issue that Merriam Webster would define as "detracts from the whole or hinders effectiveness." If you wish to define flawless as being without any defect, then nothing is flawless and your point is equally mote. with all due respect, of course.
  22. I think what a lot of people are reacting against is this feeling of entitlement that comes across from many of the yamato detractors. These are luxury items people... Are sony's really worth the 20% mark up on them? Are BMW's? are Lexus? Sure, these companies COULD produce the same unit for much less. But as long as people are going to pay the premuim then they will sell them for however much the market can bear. Of course, some people will say that it is different with yamato, that they are the only ones producing these toys (at high quality level) nd thus they are milking their line charging high prices and being mean to their customers but once again... these are toys. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Macross toys are not essential to your life, Yamato does not owe you anything. So yes, if this is a rare item.. if this is a first of it's kind, Yamato and really ANY smart manufacturer will sell them at a premium. It is no different with computers, cars, phones, clothes... really any item you can think of. Just because you personally feel that the designers, lawyers, manufacturers, sales people, drivers and everyone else associated with yamato should work for less pay than they deserve because you feel that the price is too high doesn't mean it will be so. And really, complaining nonstop about everything that yamato does isn't going to change anything. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Maybe you can write to yamato and tell them your concerns. Maybe you can start your own toy company and compete with Yamato, for all the talk out there, producing high end toys at low prices must be something very easy to do, so get to it. I'll be your number 1 fan!
  23. Great review Graham... I was kinda apprehensive about pre-ordering this thing.. but after the review I'm pretty happy about it... looks nice, good posability all things considered, price point is a little high but I can deal.
